《This Troublesome Adventure》Chapter 2: The Slime's Killer (1)

Slightly before the events.
I finally made it past the mountains, when all I can see is a sea of trees spread out as far as the eyes can see. Such greenery never existed in the white desert mountain where I grew up. Such beauty.
However i really hope there is an abundance of food there as rumours would perceive. For the past 4 days, I traversed up and past the mountain peaks, and now that I'm on the downclimb, I have ran out of my provisions and there are barely any food on this barren side of the mountain. Just jagged terrain and moss spread amongst boulders like covering them with a blanket.
Was it a mistake going down this way? No. My mentor spoke the truth, although I heard rumours of lands with abundance of resources before, he confirmed those rumours and guided me in this direction, but I would never have imagined it was over these very mountains.
I think it will take 3 more days before I can arrive down to the foot of the mountains and into the forest below. Perhaps I’ll try and conserve my energy and move slowly from now on. I will also ditch some of my clothes to lighten the load, since I was told the weather in the forest should be much warmer.
I folded my heavy woolen clothing and placed them in a crevice amongst rocks and made my journey down the mountain towards the ‘green sea’.
~*~
On my way down the mountains, as I got closer to the edge of the forest, I noticed a clearing, I decided to head there after I enter the forest.
“Amazing…”
I unconsciously leaked out a word of amazement, for the first time in my life, I have never seen such a wonderful scene, golden rays of light piercing through clouds of green, every part of the beautiful forest lit up as if glowing. Luxurious greenery spread all over, covering browned trunks with spots of white, dense aged leaves and branches covered the ground, tree roots sprawled, climbing over each other as if one entire entity.

Taking a moment to breathe in the beautiful scene in front of me, I notice little disks of red and orange covering a root near the base of a tree. Perhaps this is the rumoured mushroom! I heard my mentor dislikes them, for they would give him some dizziness after he tried them once, but he had seen other beings harvest them, perhaps for eating as well.
I decided to pick one and try it, it doesn’t seem harmful.
I swallowed my saliva in anticipation, it is afterall, the first meal I’ll have after 3 and a half days of traversing down the mountains.
I cleared my throat and threw the whole thing in my mouth.
“Puuuuh! Yuck what is this taste? It's like eating soft tree bark, do other beings really eat this?”
I continued to spit out the contents in my mouth, I can’t imagine this being edible, no wonder why my mentor did not take a liking to them.
Now. Let’s find some animals instead, meat is always tasty, especially after roasting over a fire. Hopefully I can catch one and remove the lingering bitterness from my mouth.
I continued to make my way towards the clearing.
~*~
About 1 hour has past since I begin looking for potentially edible animals while going in the direction of the clearing when painful dizziness hit me.
My head is spinning, uncontrollably I collapsed on the spot, my body feels hot and sweat begin covering my entire body.
I couldn’t muster any energy, the dizziness continues to assault and my body starts to shake. What is happening to my body?
It’s similar to the time I came down with an illness after being exposed to the extreme cold. However It is not cold at all right now and I didn’t shake uncontrollably like this.
I checked my personal information page in my head.
Ah, I have being poisoned.
Soon after, I passed out.

After finding a strange stone that takes up residence in a tattered top hat and introduces itself as Reginald, Vee and Alforde decide to open a dungeon in Oar's Crest to revitalize the city and, more importantly, make some fleurs. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

One day, after encountering an unforeseen incident, the boy learns of his true lineage in a secret kingdom which is more technologically advanced than the rest of the world. Important Note: This is going to be an evolving story as I write. I am sure many of you will have plenty of criticisms for the earliest/earlier chapters and some of them are justified but I intend to continuously improve as I progress through the story. I hope you stick with me until then. Features: Technology Gap, Mechs in a Fantasy World, Conspiracies and Mysteries, Epic Adventures! Note: Mechs will be featured but it is NOT the main thing about this story. There will be extended periods of time of a more grounded story rather than mech warfare. New Paris [a Modern-day LitRPG]
New Paris [OR] I reincarnated into the world of my favorite wuxia novel as an S ranker with unbalanced skills. [Volume 1] - Completed I was one of those people who only stood out in a crowd when their name was called. Then, I died. But instead of heaven, hell, or anything else, I found myself in the body of a young woman whom I did not recognise at first. You see, I had this novel I was obsessed with. The novel was a fairly popular wuxia that got a few sequels, and a handful of spinoffs. One of these spinoffs took place in Paris, where the main cast fought against a multi-millionaire villain. When I woke up after dying, I eventually realised that I was now the third daughter of this multi-millionaire end-game boss in a spin-off of a sequel of my favourite novel. Does this make any sense to you? Because it doesn't to me. But I guess I might as well make the most of it now. Just gotta stay away from some of the more unstable main characters and cut all ties with my 'family' to avoid certain death. [Volume 2] - Currently Airing It had not been a good idea to interfere with the characters of the original novel. Had I known it was going to cause a butterfly effect, I would have stayed in my lane and minded my business. Although, between the suspicious attacks I seem to constantly find myself in the center of, and my 'family' who is the living definition of the expression 'rich pricks', I’m not entirely sure my current predicament would have been avoidable. But maybe it isn't to be avoided; maybe I should embrace this opportunity that has been given to me and become the hero of this story? At least it's certain that I can't do worse than the original protagonist in terms of moral ambiguity; with immortality already in my pocket, and no other useful skills to account for. However, if I were to follow this path, I would have a lot to lose, including an upcoming promotion and my growing relationship with my crush. With power, glory and whatever else on one side, and my wellbeing and happiness on the other, even in this magical wuxia world, the choice is easy to make.
