Charles' POV
The scolding of a lifetime came from a place of love, for me at least. I don't know about Timothy, though. The thought of someone scolding might have been scary for anyone. But for me, it reminded me of the fact that I worried someone out there. Though we were forced to promise, we promised to follow strict guidelines in our experiments. The days passed by peacefully, peaceful as they can get with magic. But as a week flew by, Timothy excitedly brought me back outside in the backyard with a surprise.
A surprise in the form of military boots. "HAHAHA, Behold, my great masterpiece, the flyboot." He laughs proudly, dramatically gesturing explosions, trying to excite a boot. "What kind of name is that?" He looks at me, offended. "What's wrong with flyboot?" "The same thing wrong with magicbag." I sigh, waving my hand dismissively and exasperatedly spoke. "Never mind the name, what's different with this one?"
His smile brightens. "I'm glad you ask." He points at the soles, "The soles are now thicker, the size of the sole are about two inches." He turns over the boot excitedly, pointing at the bottom soles. "See here. These two holes will give you the flexibility to move." And he moves the shoes to the side, showing the side soles. "How about this? I modified the side soles, increasing the holes and changing the shape to rectangles."
I look at him weirdly. "But, why?" He raised his finger and spoke like a teacher. "HA! good thing you asked, you see with the holes like this, you can have increase inflow and outflow." He points at the side of the soles, "If you redirect the inflow and the outflow, It will give you more maneuverability, giving you the chance to perform air maneuvers " He lectures as he gestures his hand around the soles. And proceeded to use magic, as the airflow within the soles changed through his command.

"Then my last addition is the heat-resistant footbed" I look at him questioningly and spoke, "Footbed?" He pointed at the bottom of shoe. "The part where you step on." He probably got blasted about that last time. After all, a third-degree burn is a pain, even if Faye can heal it as quickly as she did. I spoke enthusiastically, "Oh, that seems to be the most useful part you've talked about." He looks at me, offended. And said indignantly, "What? After everything, I showed you." He started ranting about kids these days.
I look at him with an eyebrow raised. "Have you even tested anything?" He stopped his rant and looked at me awkwardly. And as the realization sets in, he sat with me on the bench, depressed. The depressed expression makes me feel a little bad, a little. Even so, I want to test it anyways. I then nudged him and spoke comfortingly, "Well, we could test it now If you want." He looks at me excited, taking out the magicbag.
I have to change that name. I shook my head and took it from Timothy. As I wore it, though, Timothy whispered at me, afraid. "Don't fly too high, or you're mother will kill me." I nod at him, sympathetic to his plight. Then started to increase heat and pull in air. The immediate lift is welcomed, as I hover at about afoot. I try to balance myself on-air and move in a different direction at the set interval, determining each movement's air pattern.
The smooth movement puts a smile on Timothy's face as he celebrated with raucous cheering. The fact that I was also laughing helped in gathering attention. I notice my mother and Faye looking out the window, prompting me to wave at them happily. They wave back as I pass them and go back to their work. I continued to test it, hoping to see how long it could go without overheating.

"It seems he's having fun." After speaking, Ann smiles softly as she closes the window. Faye looks at her as she sets down Ann's lunch, "Yes, he has definitely expressed great interest in magical theory." Ann grins at her, "I know right, he's been excited every time Timothy comes with his gadgets." Faye stop. She stood at her side and stood in guard. Ann started eating. As a few moments pass, a comfortable silence settles between them.
The silence continued only broken by the ringing of utensils, And Faye spoke, questioning, "Milady, what occurred in your endeavor yesterday?" Ann stops eating and looks at her in disappointment, and said, "Yeah, about that, the guy killed himself before I could do anything." Faye looks at her, shocked. "How?" "He killed himself the moment we appeared." Ann shakes her head. Faye replies, worried, "Wouldn't that mean this was connected to professionals?"
Ann sighs in contemplation, Faye replies, confused. "Perhaps, Then why would they hire someone incompetent?" Ann looked at Faye, scared of the implications, "Then perhaps he isn't incompetent." Ann was ready to stand. Faye held her down and shook her head. "We've already verified the man we captured to be a small-time adventurer, the family is real, and the story checks out." Ann sighs in relief.
Faye then spoke, contemplating. "Then that leaves us with an insider insurrectionist and the men that hired them. Then what could be the reason for such dissonance?" Ann showed her two fingers and spoke, "Perhaps they were done by separate entities." Faye replies, confused, "Then another family might be working against us." Ann scoffs, "That, or my idiot brother hired men to spy on me but never bothered to check where the money went.
Faye sighs, massaging her forehead. "Perhaps it is Milady, but we can never move against him without solid evidence, considering the fact his location remains unknown." Ann slouches depressed, as Faye pushed her lunch towards her. "Then it would be best for you to eat for now Milady, we could only wait for his next steps." Ann nods and proceeded to eat as a peaceful silence settles between them.
