《The Intelligent Ogre (Dropped for remake)》Chapter 8 - Meat Crisis and The 'Plant'

While Jake was waiting for Void Scar to cook the raptor’s meat, it never happened, rather Void Scar grabbed the raptor between the stomach and its right leg, then used force to rip its leg away. Then Void Scar placed the leg in front of Jake.
(Authors note: Void Scar, Jakes Ogre ‘father’ will be from now on will be called void or Scar for short.)
Jake just stared at the leg, which was still letting out blood, and thought to himself if he should eat it or not before Scar got angry. Thankfully ‘his mother’ said, “Void Scar, raw meat too tough for child.”
(Authors note: Muddy Slide, Jakes Ogre ‘mother’ will be from now on will be called Muddy or Slide for short.)
Jake never loved ‘his mother’ more in his life than right now. Jake would rather not eat raw meat if he can help it, it just didn’t feel right to do so.
The Muddy continued, “For now make slush meat, easier to bite.” Then she grabbed the leg of the raptor and pulverized it, before using magic to make a plate to hold all the blood and meat. The bones were removed. Somehow Muddy managed to crush the meat away from the bone easily.
Jake watched in horror; he would rather eat the raw leg than this ‘slush meat.’
Muddy came to Jake before grabbing him and putting him in her hand. Muddy then made a ‘spoon’ with magic, which looked more like a stick connect to a pot, before putting some of the ‘slush meat’ in it.
Looking at the ‘spoon’ filled with ‘food’ for him, he did the one thing children loved to do when they didn’t want to eat something, which was to leave his mouth shut before any food. Though Jake would only dare do this to ‘his mother’ which in the past week he figured she ‘cared’ a lot about him.
Muddy tried feeding him for a while before getting tired because Jake wouldn’t open his mouth. She asked Scar, “Why is Thin Stick not eating?”
Which Scar responded with a smile, “Thin Stick is a man, men eat whole meat!” Then to prove his point he ripped the left leg of the raptor and bringing it to Jake.
Jake looked at the meat before having a small internal struggle before quickly taking a bite. Jake would rather have this raw piece of meat than that ‘slush.’
When Jake took a bite, the meat seemed to melt in his mouth. He couldn’t believe this was raw meat, it tasted better than any meat he had ever eaten. Then Jake took another bite before he started to feel ‘energy’ in his body, which he remembered was vitality energy, enter and spread in his body. Jake had to stop eating after taking those two bites do due how much energy was starting to flow into his body.

Though the energy filled up his body before it started to overflow, which didn’t look too good. Jake quickly asked the system if he would just hurt or damaged if this continues. The system responded that an overflow of vitality would usually end up with a monster being very energetic, passing out, and in rare cases exploding from eating something way above his level.
Thankfully Jake only ate two pieces, but it seemed the creature he ate was of a high level which according to the system he had a small chance of death, which didn’t sound very reassuring.
Jake slowly started to lose consciousness, though he tried to do something, if this continued, he didn’t know if he would die or not. Jake would rather not be the first reincarnate to die by eating two bites of meat.
The mental stability skill he had seemed to activate removing his panic, which was really helpful for what he wanted to do.
First Jake tried connecting to the vital energy which seemed easy due to the overflow. Then Jake tried pulling the vital energy out of his body. It seemed to work but it was too slow he had to do something else, is what he thought, but a huge finger touched his body, then the blood let out some water, and the water grabbed the meat and threw it out from his mouth.
Jake started coughing and felt his body dehydrated. Then Jake heard some voices arguing but couldn’t really understand, he felt powerless but thankful at the same time for whichever parent saved him before he passed out.

Jake slowly woke up, the first thing he did was check the system. Jake saw that he lost a total of 0.48 of the attributes average.
Though seeing as he was still alive Jake decided to not care much about the loss. Then he looked around before becoming a little surprised, he wasn’t in his parent’s cave.
Jake saw some weird plants, weird cups, and other strange items that were placed on a table (which was taller than Jake was by a quite a bit). Jake looked back to his past life trying to remember something about what the items were. Though looking at the plants and complex items, Jake was most likely in an herbalist/alchemist/doctor or something ‘cave.’ Or at least something close to that.
It wasn’t hard to guess since Jake came here after the ‘meat incident’ which though sounded funny, almost killed him. With how Muddy ‘cared’ for Jake, it seems likely for her to send him to a healer of some sort after such an incident.
Jake saw no one around him, he slowly got up before walking towards the strange plants on the tall table. Jake asked the system what plants these were, and it told him they were energy/magical/spiritual/demonic, plants/herbs.

Jake was confused, wanting to ask the system more, which the system told him to take the herb/plant basic knowledge. Though it did tell Jake that weak herbs can be consumed raw and increase attributes, while plants usually needed to be processed or mixed with other plants/herbs before it can turn into something useful or something even more harmful (poison).
While Jake was looking at the weird plants/herbs on the tall table and thinking if he could use them to increase his attributes, something patted his shoulder.
Jake turned around and saw only a plant touching his shoulder, which made him pause, then he jumped back, which unfortunately made him crash on the table.
The good thing about the table was that it was made from stone, which didn’t shake when he collided on the table ‘leg.’
Jake turned his head and looked back at the plant that touched him and saw that it didn’t chase him.
The plant had many stems and leaves, and also was around five meters tall, five meters in length, purple in color, and its blade looked sharper than a steel blade.
It ‘faced’ Jake then released some strand energy, that connected with his vital energy.
Jake then started ‘feeling’ some ‘voice’ he didn’t know what it was saying, but he could ‘understand’ the plant somehow. It was ‘telling’ him that his vitality hasn’t recovered, and he should rest for a few more hours or so.
Jake was way less surprised than he should have been in this situation, like a ‘plant’ talking to him would have made him pee his pants a while back, but firstly he had no pants nor pee, and secondly ‘his parents’ and the great shaman were much scarier than a large, sharp looking, and talking ‘plant.’
Jake thought about talking back to the plant, but he had no idea how, nor know how it would react. Then as he was walking back to where he was, he felt the strand of energy the plant used to talk to him leave his body.
Jake went back to the ‘bed’, which was actually made from dried ‘plants’ or something, then sat down in a comfortable position. Then Jake asked how much longer until he could enter the HCTS but realized that he could enter already. It seemed he had been here for a long time, but thankfully it hadn’t been over a day yet.
Jake then entered the HCTS and was dragged into the white space.
Jake realized that his control of his body couldn’t compare to the creatures in the attribute trials, so even though the creatures he faced were around his ‘average attributes’ he could never win. So, Jake decided to get his body control skill up to level four first before fighting in the attribute trials again.
Right when he thought of that he was teleported to the grey space as usual with the buffs.
As Jake was reading the theory, he learned of ‘limiters’ placed on most creatures’ bodies, this wasn’t to weaken the creature on purpose but to help.
Limiters are placed on creatures, so they do not overuse muscle and causing the muscles to be damaged. The limiters are also there to save energy because if a creature is always using 100% of its strength most of the energy used would usually be wasted.
Humans also have limiters placed on them. Most humans that exercise regularly will usually only be able to use 65% of their muscle strength. Top athletes might be able to increase that to around 80% muscle strength.
Though ogres are different. Most ogres can use 80% of their strength after they grow to adulthood due to their regeneration ability, which allows ogres to damage their muscles to a certain amount and being able heal after a little rest.
Body control passive, of the first four levels allow 100% control of the muscle strength (Author’s note: Complete control of muscle strength, not body! That for levels 5-? body control passive.). First level 25%, second 50%, third 75%, and fourth 100%.
After reading the theory it helped Jake realize, even if he does learn the body control to the fourth level completely, he would need a corresponding regeneration or he would hurt himself each time he fights over his muscle ‘limit’ on accident.
Deciding it wasn’t worth learning the body control level 4 yet, Jake leaves the grey space by willing it, and returned to the white space.
The Jake thinks for a while before asking if there are any regeneration passive skills, which of course there is. Though many of the regeneration skills had a sign that said, ‘prerequisites required.’ Jake scrolled through a lot before realizing everything below was locked except for two on top.
The two regeneration skills were basic creature regeneration and ogre regeneration.
Jake asked the system which was better to choose and was told they superimpose on each other, so learning both was what it recommended.
After hearing what the system said he decided to learn both.

Everyone has their own reasons, be it past events, personality or simply company. But most at some point divulge themselves into videogaming, be it for entertainment or more compettitive reasons. In this year and age there are many genres of gaming, one specific genre though still holds on tight to the ledge it was pushed to trying to pull itself back up. MMORPGs were once the top of everybody's list, adventure, combat, storytelling and endless grind in one single game. It was a different life for most, as if a parallel world to our own. You could be a knight indulging yourself in combat, a mage expertly crafting spells of mass destruction or creation. A ranger exploring the land and hunting down prey, an assassin completing contracts and hording the spoils. A troll scamming children out of their hard earned 10 gold and making more hardcore players rage quit for the day. Or something else. Kyle was a simple player, he always picked the strangest classes or jobs and his characters almost looked the same. He played for the combat, he played for the grind and he played for his guild but above all he played for the story. Kyle is a roleplayer, one who enjoys the simple parts of this virtual life. Whether his guild was starting a war or ending one he'd always have his drammatic entrence or exit, his decleration of annihalition or demand of surrender. After all that? He divulged himself in the game's story, the interaction with NPCS (Non Player Characters) and their advanced AI. He went through many questlines, many tales of heroics and many more adventurers of legend but one thing always remained true with his character. Kyle absolutely loved to the play the villain. But when game turns reality, what will he and his guild of twisted personalities do?
