《The Intelligent Ogre (Dropped for remake)》Chapter 5 - The Battles, and Oops

When Jake felt his consciousness return, he immediately looked at his arms, and thankfully they were fine. When Jake looked back at what had happened, he couldn’t help but curse. There was no warmup, and he barely got a warning (the wolf being formed), before he had to fight.
Jake still felt a little fear in his heart, which in the next moment was gone, which prompted Jake to curse even more. Can’t he even feel fear now he was wondering if that mental stability skill was a good thing or bad.
Jake looked at the time he left and saw that 15 minutes had passed since he started the fight it seemed lethal wounds took more time to heal or something.
Jake decided he needed to ask the system more questions before choosing to do anything he didn’t know about. This was because he most likely chose a difficulty way higher than he could handle.
During the fight, he died before he had a chance to fight back nor know what was happening, and he felt a little traumatized (would have been more but the mental stability helped with it).
While Jake was waiting, he decided to ask how the difficulty was done. Then he got an answer that gave him a headache. There were calculations beyond any he could understand, then thankfully the system ‘simplified’ the equations to which he could understand.
The difficulty of 0.001 attribute trial, summons a creature with the same number of attributes (and value of attributes, since 1 point in strength for him might be 10 for others etc.) that Jake had, which didn’t count hidden attributes and only main basic thankfully. Otherwise, because all his attributes increase at the same rate, he would have much more attributes than other creatures.
Also, the amount ‘skills’ (not level of the skills) the 0.001 and above trials opponent he faces will be around the same amount. So, it seems the number of skills he has in the attribute trials won’t matter as much as the level.
(Author’s note: Note that knowledge won’t matter, he could face a fighter with no experience at all or a fighter with insane amounts.)
After the 0.001 trials, the strength of the opponents increases in a weird exponential way. The exponential value begins low, just barely over his attributes, then increases heavily making his opponents nearly unbeatable in his opinion.
Jake who was thinking of never going back into the trials due to having no chance started thinking otherwise. When Jake chose the 0.888 attributes trial as his opponent, the opponent had around 15 times more attributes than he had (and most likely better skills).
This made Jake waver, he had a small fear, but decided he needed to get stronger. Well at least until he was sure he was safe, and could live comfortably enough, then he would just eat and gain attributes, which also felt much more efficient so far. Then Jake would learn some skills and knowledge safely and become the strongest mage/fighter in the world/universe, hopefully.
Jake slowly got over his fear and thought of the attribute trials, he had to get over this fear at some point, so he decided to get rid of it right now.
This was because Jake had experience with trauma in his past life. You can either let it stop you, or you can try to face it head on again and try getting over it. Thankfully the mental stability helps a lot in suppressing trauma otherwise Jake would have most likely never tried going back into the attribute trials.

Jake decided to choose a weaker target this time 0.001 attribute trial. Yes, you heard that correctly, the weakest target, which would hopefully remove his fear of the attribute trials after succeeding once. And as soon as he thought of that he was sucked into the greyish-black room, though he was prepared this time.
Jake brought his fists up, then realized that he had no idea how to fight. Jake thought of how bad this would go, hopefully not that bad.
Though time waited for no one, the greyish black fog stirred once again a humanoid creature arrived in front of him. After he saw the creature, he couldn’t help but laugh and think of his good luck for once. It was a goblin! Though Jake didn’t keep that smile for long for he saw the goblin as big as he was and was wielding a sword. A sword wasn’t that cheating!
The goblin then charged at him with strange footwork he couldn’t follow, before it took a strange stance, and stabbed at him right towards his heart. Jake tried to dodge and brought his hands to block, and suddenly the sword changed direction and stabbed his throat. The last thing he saw was the goblin smirking.

Jake woke up and held his throat and felt that it was fine. He wasn’t going get used to dying or getting hurt anytime soon. Another 15 minutes were wasted, and he didn’t feel like fighting again anytime soon. This wasn’t because of his fear (though fear was part of the reason), but because he didn’t even know how to fight.
As Jake calmed down, he thought about the goblin it seemed to have intelligence and a lot of combat experience. Were the things manifested in the greyish-black space real creatures.? Jake asked the system which replied they were just copies, near perfect copies, of real creatures.
Also, Jake had another question, why was the goblin so large? Were all goblins that size? He asked the system, and the system answered that goblins were not large, and goblins were around that size across the omniverse.
Jake then remembered he never asked what his size was, so he decided to ask. The answer he got made everything make sense, he was a meter tall (around 3.3 feet). Jake now knew that the goblin and wolf he fought weren’t much larger than their counterparts that he ‘knew’ about from games and novels.
Jake thought about the battles and realized he had no chance of winning even the lowest attribute gain, how was he supposed to gain attributes quickly even if at all? It seemed he had to train some combat skill/knowledge, but before that he had to ask why the hell that goblin had a sword and if he could have one during the next fight.
Then the system answered him, “Anything can be brought from reality to the HCTS and be used in the attribute trials.”
Jake asked a few more questions about what would happen if he brought weapons/armor with him because he doubted there would be no penalty.
It turns out that Jake could enter without a weapon/armor the opponent could have a weapon but not necessarily, but if Jake brings a weapon/armor it will guarantee that the opponent will gain one as well, and if the creature can’t, like Jake bringing a weapon like a sword while his opponent is a creature without hands, the creature will just get extra attributes in exchange. The reverse is true as well, if an opponent brings a weapon and Jake doesn’t, the creature will lose attributes. Like the goblin, the goblin was actually weaker than Jake physically (or mentally) because he brought a sword to the fight.

Well, that was somewhat helpful, though only somewhat because how would he get a sword. Would ‘his mother’ even let him leave the cave?
He then asked the system which what skill/knowledge he should learn, and the system said he should get his ‘body control, passive’ up to level 3 before learning any combat skills. At level 3 he could get 30% control of his body (this does not mean 30% muscle control, and with 30% body control he could control about 75% of his muscle strength). It seemed that every level the body control went up he would gain an extra 10% control over his body a total of 10 levels in body control means total control over the body.
As Jake decided to level his body control, he was sucked into the grey room, he tried identifying the energy and it seemed different from ‘chaos’, but since it looked somewhat like ‘chaos’ and helped his mind and body it seemed to be a sub-energy or even refined energy of ‘chaos’ that was helpful and controlled.
Though Jake quickly gained focus and started to concentrate on the theory on how to control his body better. As he was reading for a while, he suddenly felt that he was being sucked away from the room before arriving at the white room. Jake was going to ask what was happening, but he suddenly was sucked again, and felt that he returned to ‘reality’, or in other words back in the cave.
Jake heard the system explained that he had run out of time (he could only stay in the space for 7 days, every real day). It seems if he was in the process of learning something than ran out of time he would be forcefully removed.
Jake looked around and saw ‘his mother’ still looking at him before looking at the entrance which was still dark.
Jake suddenly remembered something and tried to feel energy in and around him. Thankfully after about a few hours (took extra-long due to having no machine helping, and low affinity with the elements), he could still feel energy constantly inside and outside, though he had to focus a lot more than others since his affinity for the elements was trash for now.
As Jake was feeling happy, that he could feel energy in the real world, Jake suddenly sensed energy that was much larger than what he should have felt appear. Though before he could understand what the huge energy was, he suddenly felt something hold him. Jake opened his eyes and saw ‘his mother’ look at him in surprise and say “Energy, felt energy!”
Though his surprise didn’t end there he saw ‘his mother’ start crying and then roared out loudly, “Void Scar!” and looked at the entrance and waited for something. Jake felt like he did a mistake was he going to be killed, have his soul be extracted or something. A minute or so later a huge shadow appeared before he suddenly saw it more clearly it was ‘his father’.
Void Scar looked at me for a second before he asked her, “What Muddy Slide! I was summoning!”
Muddy Slide or Jake’s ‘mother’ pointed at Jake with a smile and responded, “Energy, he touched my energy!”
Void Scar looked stunned and at a loss for words. He looked at me and I could swear I saw a ‘evil’ smile on his face before he started laughing like crazy. The walls shook, my ear drums were almost destroyed, and felt most of my body shake. Though that didn’t last long before Muddy Slide summoned some water, through some magic, and threw the water right at Void Scar face while yelling, “Be quiet! Thin Stick almost lost ears!”
While I felt grateful, I didn’t apricate the name ‘Think Stick’ nor did I want to be known that for the rest of my life. Jake wanted to speak and change his name but remembered that he was less than a day old, Jake would most likely probably be called a monster, by a monster (ogre) and get killed or something.
After Void Scar calmed down a little, he went forth and grabbed Jake. Jake felt some energy enter his body and touch his energy looking around, and the smile on Void Scar’s face became wider, though it looked creepy as hell being looked at by a giant ogre.
While Jake was being creeped out by Void Scar, he heard Void Scar say, “Tomorrow, bring great shaman, and test elemental affinity!”
While Jake was wondering what would happen next, he heard his stomach growl, then both ‘his parents’ looked at him before ‘his mother’ took him back in her hand and went to the mother tiger again to get milk.
After Jake drank the milk again, he felt the energy in his body again, he felt the energy both vigorous and ‘pure’ and was being digested in his body at a quick pace.
(Author’s note: Pure energy is usually energy that is in an optimal state with almost no impurities of other energies mixed. This energy is usually digested easier, though not always good for the creature.)
Then he was placed back on his spot before suddenly remembering something, why didn’t he feel like going to the bathroom at all? After all, Jake had a kid before and he knew how trouble they give he still remembered that he used a lot of diapers for his kid.
Jake asked the system and heard that ogres have a very powerful digestive system and can digest nearly anything to energy for the body, and if they can’t digest something they would usually throw it up. They also sweat a lot because of gravity acting on ogres is also higher (because ogres are quite large in size), so they don’t need to pee usually either, while the bacteria in their body will kill almost any other bacteria inside the ogre’s body. So, ogres sometimes only go to the bathroom once a year to pee or something.
Though Jake thought that magic or something else played a role as well because usually when a person gains magic/energy in their body, they wouldn’t need much to eat or, according to the system. This is because when people eat its usually for the energy (calories) inside the food, which wouldn’t have much of an impact if the creature could wield energy inside its body (though its different for creatures that are growing up even if they can control energy because they need the nutrients to grow correctly). Also, water is usually taken to regulate the body, which magic/energy also helps in doing as well.
While Jake was thinking how amazing an ogre body was, he suddenly felt some energy enter his body and felt sleepy. He felt that it was magic or something and asked the system why his mental stability is not canceling it out because he was sure most things that affected his mentality were usually removed by the mental stability skill. It turned out that the spell was affecting his body not his mind, so the mental stability has minimal affect otherwise Jake would have never needed to sleep in the first place.
Jake wanted to ask a bit more but couldn’t stay awake for much longer he looked around to see who it was casting the ‘spell’, but only saw the ‘kind’ face of his smiling ‘mother’, and the creepy smile of his ‘fathers’ before dozing off.

Among other things, I separated it into a new book as it has elements of progressive LitRPG and a fantasy-world setting.Since I'll keep on writing The Wardens of Destiny, this will be one of my side-projects.
