《The Intelligent Ogre (Dropped for remake)》Chapter 11 - The Village, and Caught?

The village was somewhat different than he would expect from ‘monsters’, but also kind of what he would expect from a ‘magical’ world.

Some ‘buildings’ were just ‘caves and trees’, but most buildings were from ‘steel and obsidian’ and shaped like a rectangle.

There was also an extremely high wall made from steel and obsidian surrounding the ‘village’ that could be seen clearly even at a distance covering a lot of the view. Well, if you could even call it a village, since the walls he saw were likely more than 20 kilometers (over 12 miles) away because of his eyesight was limited, you could imagine how large the walls were.

Jake was still thinking why or even how the village was using obsidian before he heard the plant ‘speak’, “The great wall protects us from the dragons and ‘demons’ little one, though I doubt you know what those beings are.

Those ‘intelligent’ creatures (dragons and ‘demons. and few others ‘intelligent’ creatures) consider ‘us’ monsters to be disasters to the world, though it is hypocrisy of those demons, wanting to get rid of us at a heavy price. Though they failed and paid heavily, but in the process, they killed a lot of us monsters in the world.

They failed because we monsters gathered together to resist them, which was thanks to our ‘leaders’, otherwise we would have been wiped out or captured, like the rest of our fellow monsters.”

Jake felt the ‘emotions’ from the ‘plant’, and Jake felt that this world got more complicated. Were monsters of this world stuck in this ‘wall’? Were monsters the weaker ‘race’ in this world?

Though before he could continue his thoughts, the plant continued to ‘speak’,

“Due to both sides paying a heavy price in the war, the leaders of both sides decided it wasn’t worth it to continue.

Though the hatred of both sides didn’t allow this to happen, rather conflict increased, and their trust with their leaders decreased. The leaders couldn’t stop the war with just their words, so they decided to take a step back and create the ‘Primal Wars’.

In the Primal Wars both sides can fight until one side is killed, surrenders, or time runs out. Though those who surrender or flee before time runs out are turned into slaves, and even their own ‘kind’ will give them away if they catch them for being a disgrace.

The Primal Wars are done once every 10 years, and they last for a week, which even though harm both sides, isn’t as bad as a side being annihilated which is why the leaders created the Primal Wars.”

Jake heard this and felt frightened. Are these people (creatures/monsters) crazy! What was the point of killing each other and receiving nothing in return? While Jake continued cursing their stupidly, the ‘plant’ continued,

“The winners of the war gain pride and glory, while the losers will feel shame and embarrassment.

Though that is just for the foolish, the ‘smart leaders’ created this to divide resource points around the Primal World. We are in a resource point right now, the steel and ‘black stone’ mine (which Jake would just translate as obsidian).

The ‘Great Shaman’ rules over this resource point, and with his intelligence and wisdom, created this ‘great wall’ of steel and obsidian to defend against the various magic, dragons’ breath, and ‘demons’ weapons, which made this resource point the hardest to take over and is currently the ‘safest’ to be in.”

While the plant said ‘safest’ Jake didn’t believe it in the slightest, can’t a dragon or a magician (or energy user) just fly over it? Also, wouldn’t he have to fight when he becomes of age (with how his father acts), then this ‘wall’ wouldn’t follow him to war would it.

While Jake was walking with the plant, he saw many different creatures/monsters, some acted ‘normally’ while others were ‘crazy’.

Jake saw an ogre hitting his fists on obsidian, while yelling break! While his ‘parents’ or what Jake thought they were, were yelling harder! Harder! Wall Break soon!

Jake saw ‘goblins’ (smaller than the one he faced during the attribute trial) exchanging ‘goods’ with other goblins and monster/creatures. Though the goblins looked weird because they laughed every time, they made an exchange.

The surprising thing is that none of creatures of different races when trading spoke, Jake guessed they were using the same technique as the ‘plant’ by connecting vitality or something

Jake saw other ‘plants’ with some looking like the one he was walking with and sometimes even stranger, but other plants had beautiful patterns and more beautiful than any flowers he had seen before.

Jake saw all kinds of creatures/monsters and all kinds of behaviors. Jake felt that he wouldn’t be bored for a long time with these creatures/monsters around him.

Though that changed quite quickly when an ogre around three meters (9.84 feet) approached Jake. The ogre didn’t say anything before charging at them.

Jake couldn’t do anything as he watched the ogre open his mouth trying to ‘eat’ him (the attribute difference was too big, and the ogre was too fast). Thankfully, a large hand grabbed the ogre yelling, “RAGAAR! NO EAT!” Then the giant ogre picked the smaller ogre slapped it twice on both cheeks.

The ogre looked at the plant bowed then left, which felt weird maybe healers are respected or something?

Calming himself Jake turned to face the plant. The ‘plant’ ‘looking’ back at Jake ‘said’, “We monsters usually gain our ability to think very late, but have strong bodies or souls in return, well not always, sometimes breeding is a type of strength as well.”

Jake knew that as well when he asks the system in his free time but isn’t this plant missing the point? The ogre almost killed them (maybe just him)!

Seeing Jake still staring, the plant continues, “Though because of our late intelligence, we need to be helped by parents (or equivalent) until we monsters can think and analyze ‘normally’. Usually there are no casualties, well maybe just a few each year. If it happens the parents (or equivalent) and child must leave, which is a death sentence when the Primal Wars start.

This problem doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for you Thin Stick, which still baffles me, according to my calculations of your vital energy and body, you should just be over a week or so old?”

Jake felt his heart pounding couldn’t feel like the plant suspected ‘something’ about his identity.

(Author’s note: Divination – Used to see ‘things’ about the past, present, future, or possible futures about a person, place, or thing. Usually done by calculating the possibilities or using a medium that can calculate large amounts (medium example; a computer). Divination is more commonly called ‘fate’)

Then the ‘plant continued, “Feeling this to be strange I did what I usually did. First, I did some divination in front of you, but couldn’t find anything about you, neither about your existence nor where you were, which was even stranger, even the strongest anti-divination creatures that I know of, could be divined when they are young, unless hidden by a powerful existence.

Feeling suspicious about your identity I decided to do something I should not have; I ‘tasted’ your blood. Almost instantly most of my vital energy and body, near the blood I consumed, was destroyed along with the blood I consumed.”

Jake was feelings a headache just listening to this ‘plant’, a lot of his secrets were being ‘revealed’ like his ‘hidden divine, passive’ and his bloodline (being a primordial perfect ogre), and maybe him being reincarnated.

Then the ‘plant’ finally said something that relived him, “The only things that I can think of that fit all these situations you have with you is having a ‘sliver’ of a primordial bloodline. Creatures that have even a small part of a primordial bloodline usually can’t be divined, are unusually smart, well most of them, and finally have powerful ‘blood energy’.

There are a few creatures in the past centuries or so that ‘regained’ a part of a primordial bloodline, due to some mutation. Though all those that get identified as having one either got killed during the wars or have already ‘ascended’.

Remember this Thin Stick do not tell anyone about your bloodline nor show any possibilities of having one, or you will be on a hit list! Especially your ‘father’ knowing that man, he will try and show off to anyone that fool. I’m telling you this because first you are smart, and second to tell you what you should do to hide your bloodline.”

Then the ‘plant’ began to tell Jake what those with a ‘sliver’ of a primordial bloodline did to get recognized as having one. Some were just outright dumb like just announcing that they had it (for honor or something), or smart like using their blood as ‘poison’ until an enemy found an unused drop of blood and discovered that it had a primordial bloodline while trying to curse using some ‘magic’ on him but was unable to locate the enemy.

From this Jake learned of another perk of the ‘hidden divine, passive’ is that most curses are useless especially long-distance curses which require a target that can be locked on.

Though there were unlucky ones that got caught because they were trying to get healed by a healer that used vital energy on the blood energy in some way, but the vital energy was destroyed, and the healer got a backlash from loosing a lot of vital energy. This was how most with primordial bloodlines got revealed.

Though that gave Jake another question how did the ‘plant’ heal him? Well, when Jake was guessed it had something to do with medicines, potions, alchemy, or something similar.

Jake felt the urge to learn to speak with vital energy to ask his questions. Jake doubted the plant had any understanding of ogres’ language since it was speaking with its vital energy as well.
