《The Intelligent Ogre (Dropped for remake)》Chapter 4 - Feeling 'Energy', 'Affinity', Attribute Gain Trial
Advertisement
Jake looked at his attributes, but he only saw the overall 0.103, so he decided to ask the system about what was going on.
The system told him that all the attributes will increase at the same rate so there was no need to repeat the same information, just like the ‘hidden attributes.’
As Jake was listening to the system, he heard hidden attributes he was slightly surprised, and asked it what hidden attributes were.
Though, before that ‘his mother’ picked him up and took him to the mother tiger then fed him then put him back.
The system answered him that hidden attributes are usually not the focus of a creature or is a part of a creature that cannot increase by normal means. Say an ogre, would the ogre really need a dexterity status increase after all it wasn’t going to use it much in its life.
(Authors note: Dexterity is an attribute where it helps control small movements in finesse in the body, usually the hands, for doing professions like knitting, smithing, leatherworking, alchemy, etc.)
As Jake thought of that he remembered that in the HCTS his comprehension and talent would increase by 10 times, so he asked the system if they were hidden attributes, and the answer he got was yes. Then finally he asked the system if hidden attributes were increasing as well.
(Authors note:
Comprehension (combination of mind attributes) – The ability to understand the profound, usually a mix of mind attributes. It helps very much in learning, especially learning new things. This attribute is usually inherent and hard to train.
Talent (Good genes) – Is usually an attribute that is hard to describe in words but think of it as comprehension of the body and genes. An example of this is athletes. Two athletes with the same mass, height, and muscle train in the gym for a month, one gains a pound of muscle while the other gains three or more. Why? Well, its ‘talent’ or people like some people like to to say genes.
Authors note end.)
The answer Jake got made him happy. It seems ALL attributes increase at the same rate no matter if they were talent or comprehension which are inherent usually. Though it seemed other creatures had a much higher talent/comprehension, say a primordial dragon its comprehension/talent might be higher than he would ever have in this minor omniverse.
As Jake was thinking happily, he suddenly had a thought. Why was he trying to get stronger than everything, it made no sense? Wouldn’t it be better to live a more peaceful life?
As he was thinking of this the system seemed to hear him, and answered, “This life you wanted from the depths of your soul and mind, Jake Flash. A life of a reincarnate with cheats.”
Jake heard the system and thought for a moment, and he agreed after a while. This was because he loved the characters in novels and games that usually had a blast with their reincarnation. He usually dreamed of this happening to him a couple times, though he seemed to forget, most of those games and novels he read about didn’t mention family in depth or about leaving a wife and a child behind.
While Jake was feeling depressed about leaving his family, he felt ‘something’ remove the depression and put him in a ‘stable state’. Feeling what happened Jake thought ‘at least I won’t go insane or feel too depressed.’

Though why did he become an ogre, rather than a dragon or some other cool creature like a giant? The system didn’t answer back, Jake tried a few more times but failed to get an answer. It seemed that the semi-guide couldn’t answer everything, which was understandable since it has a ‘semi’ in its name.
There was no other topics Jake wanted to know as of now, since he wanted to feel energy, it seemed when he drank the milk from the mother tiger he could ‘feel/sense’ energy in his body, but that feeling quickly disappeared.
He had asked the system about that and if that could help him control energy, but it seemed that he had to constantly feel energy until he gains the skill ‘energy control, passive’ (1), and that the milk won’t help much after the effects disappear. Looks like he had to wait until the HCTS resets, before he can learn energy control
Jake started to feel drowsy and decided to sleep and call it a day.

Break scene
-
When Jake woke up, he heard his stomach growl and looked around and saw something that would stick in his mind for a long time. ‘His mother’ was holding a staff, and around her was water and earth moving in a cycle. He stared at her for a long time before she took a break and looked at him.
When ‘His mother’ saw him awake she quickly put her staff on the wall behind her and picked him up as his stomach started to growl. She heard her say, “Small Stick, must eat, stomach was making sound.”
After drinking the milk, he tried to keep feel the energy in his body but failed after the rejuvenating feeling disappeared.
After he learned that ' his mother' was a mage or something he wanted to quickly learn how to wield magic as well.
Jake looked outside and saw it was dark and asked his system if he could re-enter the HCTS said the system said yes. The HCTS seemed it refreshed every nighttime, not the time when he first entered.
Jake also asked the system how long the day and night cycle was in his world was. It seemed that it was close to planet Earth his old world around 24 hours a day (around 12 hours of daytime/nighttime). Though the difference was the seasons. It seemed that this world only has Summer and Winter, which both had around 180 days each. Which was strange after all why did it suddenly become cold and hot.
Jake then decided that was enough asking and entered the HCTS. As he entered the space the first thing he did was see if there was any skill training about energy control and the results didn’t disappoint.
The white screen went on the passive section and thousands of lines were left behind. The lines were control energy, affinity, fire, etc. Jake looked through few dozen lines and saw a pattern. it seemed after control energy and affinity the others were about types of energy.
Jake then picked the most basic control energy and was quickly sucked into a grey space. As usual his perks were added, and he quickly started learning the theory on how to sense energy, after all the first thing needed to control energy was to sense energy. So, learning ‘energy control, passive’ level 1 would just be to sense energy, which sounded about right. After all, would an ogre learn how to control energy when its less than 3 months old?

After learning the last part of the theory was memorized and understood it quickly disappeared, and some high technological machines were placed all around him.
Jake had read about how these machines work during the theory of Energy control (1), and he started the machines.
Jake tried asking the system about what his attribute was because the machine worked better knowing what it was, but was told to take the sensing affinity course, which felt weird for the system not to answer.
Though for now he pressed on the non-attributed energy since he had no idea what his attribute was and sat in the center.
Jake started to feel ‘something’ around him and knew it was energy. After about a day or so, Jake felt ‘energy’ both in himself and outside. After being to sense energy proficiently, Jake thought to suck the energy that was outside his body into his body, which wasn’t written about much in the theory section. The theory Jake read only said energy could be controlled by willpower and moved into one’s body to gather energy, which was a requirement to be an energy user. Being an energy user is what Jake wanted the most, which made him try and gather energy into his body in advance.
Jake used his willpower to force the ‘outside attribute less energy’, which anyone could absorb according to the system, into his body.
Jake failed quite a few times and even thought of giving up, but after the 56th time he finally did succeeded. Though it quickly went wrong and his body began to bloat, some parts of his body, mostly veins, started to explode all over his body.
Jake quickly left the grey space unknowingly and almost passed out from pain. Thankfully the pain was suppressed by the white space and started to heal after he entered the white space. Jake felt a lingering fear due to what happened, while removing some sweat. Feeling the imaginary lingering pain, Jake swore he would never do something that dumb again.
After a while he check his system, it took three days, and felt knowledgeable about sensing energy, and a passive ability for controlling energy. People usually needed both knowledge and ability to sense energy.
After Jake felt his mind cool down for a while from what had happened, he knew wasting time was a bad idea since it might take more than four days to learn what attribute he had. Which would make him feel uncomfortable having to wait until the HCTS refreshes.
When he felt ready for the next step, he thought of sensing affinity, and was quickly sucked into the grey space. Jake then read the theory, which was much longer than normal because there were a lot of energies he had to learn about, before it disappeared and the same machine that he used to sense energy last time appeared.
Jake went to change some settings on the machine and put it on the lowest risk then went to sit in the center of the machine.
After a while, Jake started to feel energy being sucked out of him very slowly since he set it that way in case, he hurt himself again (Jake got some trauma, though not much). The process of having his energy taken lasted for about half an hour before stopping.
Jake got up and looked at a screen that had English words, which was probably the HCTS work, and saw his attributes.
Jake Flash’s elemental affinity: ALL elements affinity, rating 0.112
When Jake saw that, he immediately knew what happened. It seemed that his elemental affinities also increased as his attributes did because they had the same number. While it sounded nice it wasn’t for the beginning. This was because Jake had read that any affinity below 300 was considered trash and very hard control.
Well at this point Jake thought he should increase his attributes. He quickly left the grey space and entered the white space.
After he took a small break and seeing he took another 3 days in his training, having 1 left. Jake looked at the white screen and the screen changed as he thought about acquiring attributes. A few options appeared, but only one was available which was a line that said 1VS1. Which gave him a feeling of having to fight.
Jake pressed on it and a list of attribute increase was listed between 0.001 – 0.888. He asked why there wasn’t any higher and was told that 1.000 was the limit for any ‘normal,’ level 0 creature. So, Jake had to reach iron rank or higher to gain more attributes.
Jake decided to pick the 0.888 option and was teleported to a grayish-black space and a term quickly to his mind as he saw the grayish black energy, ‘chaos.’
It was in the elemental affinity theory he had read about; it was said ALL things came from primordial chaos (which most likely God created, since no energy can created nor destroyed, unless God wills/allows it), but it was an element that almost no one could control (there’s always exceptions), and even if they could, it would drain all their mental and physical strength before they could do anything with it.
As Jake was thinking about the ‘chaos,’ something stirred from the chaos and a creature appeared. It looked somewhat like a wolf but was much bigger. Before Jake could understand what was happening the ‘wolf’ charged at him. By the time Jake understood what was happening the ‘wolf’ jumped on the ‘ground’ and attacked him.
Jake raised his arms in a cross due to reflex, but the next second he felt his shoulders lighten, as he also couldn’t feel his arms, and was pushed back flying at the same time. He quickly tried to get up, but when he used his hands to try and get up, he saw that he couldn’t, so he looked at where his arms should be and saw they were gone.
It took Jake a second to register that, and before the pain, he should have felt on his arms arrive, Jake saw a shadow arrive in front of him before everything went blank.

Game? Second autumn
DROPED. This is a story about a guy who died and went isekai. While the characters may sometimes may seem too crazy, they are simply that, crazy. There is an actual way to do everything in this novel, may it be turning into a God, whatever the fuck is above that protect me from ever having a destiny like that, or conjuring a fire ball, and those are all explained during the novel. Some things are basic, like earth magic is stronger underground, or the law of equal exchange, but everything is explained at it's own time. Also on Webnovel.

Any resemblance between anything in this novel and the plane of reality we live in is purely coincidental. Was that a bit over the top and a wee bit unnecessary? Maybe. 2) This story features an antihero with a slight hint of villainy. So, sooner or later, it’s going to get dark. Very dark. Hence all the tags. If you are prone to be squeamish, this might not be for you. Well. You were warned. ;)
