《After being reincarnated as the strongest hero I decided to open a tavern and wait until I have to save the world!》Chapter 7: That Time I Left For An Adventure

I sit on the roof looking at the setting sun. It feels weird. Six months free to do whatever the hell I want. So am I lucky? I'd say yes and no. I am free from debt, school and other responsibilities, but I was taken away from family.
Yet as each day passed I missed them less and less. Am I a bad person for that? Am I an emotionless monster because I don't miss my folks? I do fear a little that I might forget things. Forgot who I was, where I came from.
It's true that I can't remember my real name, not because I forgot, but because I suppressed it to such a degree that I can't remember it. I didn't want to be that man, I wanted to be someone new, someone better.
Did I achieve that in six months? I opened a tavern, been kind to those around me. Those feelings are conflicting. Maybe its guilt. I don't fucking know really.
And to top it all off I am here to save this world. Great.
I lay down on the tiles, put my hands behind my head and stare at the stars. Billions like back in the old world.
"Dantes!" a voice shouts for me
I glance down and see Kua waving at me. I sit up and look at her.
"We ready to head off?" I ask
I see her nod and head away. Alright, let's test out the spell. Fuck I hope it works. I stand up and stare at the moon. A small wind brushes past. I hesitate to move, no wonder.
I still can't work up the courage to leave, but I'm doing it right now.
Whether I like it or not.
I walk forward to the edge of the roof and hop off, doing a nice superhero landing. Little hard on the knees I must say.
I make my way around the Outlander and head inside, the tavern is empty, best case scenario we have a portable house which is nice. Worst case scenario....no...house? Probably something else as well, just can't think of it.
I make my way to the back rooms and head down the stairway, passing the baths, heading deeper until I reach another door. Unlike the other one this is made of stone and has a more ancient-ish feel to it.

I step inside, a very light layer of dust is what catches my glance. I haven't exactly spent much time here, neither have I dusted it off. I cringe at myself being a slob here, time to change that, not now of course.
The room itself is nearly the width of the Outlander and has about three or four thousand different books which is a rough estimate of tomes and scrolls. Can't say I've read them all. Lucky we have a few casters. This should help them, I hope.
I make my way to the shelf numbered 37 and look around at its lowest point. Soon enough I do find the scroll. I rearrange the books to not leave a mess and head out then back topside.
Outside in front is two carts, one being the one I took and the other one that was lent to us. I already said my goodbyes to the people in the city, same with Kua and Allia. I think Tyra and Nyllie were here being lazy.
I smirk at the thought of a bored fairy and lamia playing checkers or cards. Glancing up I do see the girls waiting a little eagerly.
Allia wearing human-esce travel gear, same with Kua. Tyra's wearing some of Kua's clothes while Nyllie is wearing some of mine. Glad we were able to get her some common clothes, but she fancies mine a little more for some reason.
"Is everything you guys want to carry packed and on the wagons?" I ask
"Double checked." Allia says smugly
I nod.
"Alright, let's hope this thing works."
I stand in front of the girls and unroll the scroll.
On the paper itself was just a bunch of weird magical mumbo jumbo symbols that soon began to glow. After a moment I could read the scroll and spoke out what I wanted without any thought. The scroll burned up in my hands and the Outlander glowed for a minute before disappearing.
Once the light faded I looked at where my used to be, then I looked down and saw a small present box. I stepped forward and picked it up.
Nice. Seems like it worked, now getting it unpacked might seem like a problem, but that comes later. The stables didn't seem to disappear which is a shame, could've used them for the horses. Guess we'll have to improvise.

"Allia you're in charge of the box. Protect it, that's our home in there." I hand it to her
She places it away and looks at everyone
"Are we ready to depart then?"
"Yeah!" Kua sounds excited
"Suppose so.." Nyllie the lovely Tsundere says
Tyra nods, as expected, haha.
"Alright. I'll drive one of them, Kua care to drive the other?"
She salutes me, rather excited I must say. She hurries to the second wagon and hops on. I look to the others.
"So, Allia and Tyra, you two will need to be in one cart. Nyllie needs to be in one by herself, don't want her tail dragging on the ground, so, its up to you three to decide."
Wait why does it feel a little hot right now, nono, not heat, that's cold. I glance at the three and see a cold glare from Allia to Nyllie and from Nyllie to Allia. Tyra just glances at them both in confusion. They aren't going to fight for their spot. right?
"You and Kua should get to know each other Nyllie."
"Shouldn't you become better friends with her blondie?"
I swear I can see lightning between their foreheads just attacking each other. Best to step in.
"Hey, have you two ever played rock, paper, sci..-" wait I don't think scissors exist here "shears..?" I chuckle nervously
They look at me with curiosity.
"Can you explain the game, Dantes?" Nyllie asks
"Yes, okay so it goes as such. When I make a fist, that's rock, when I straighten my hand out that's paper and when I open my first two fingers like this that's shears. Rock beats shears, Shears beats paper and paper beats rock. The one to win three games gets to decide who sits where. How about that?"
"A challenge?" Allia asks before smirking "I accept."
"Me too." Nyllie replies
Tyra comes around and stands next to me.
"Sorry about this." I tell her
She shakes her head.
"Both are highly impulsive, competition motivates, brilliant hero Dantes."
You know I'd take that as a compliment, but for some reason it feels like an insult. I do acknowledge her words.
I glance back at the two who seem to still be going on, but for some reason they both keep doing paper.
"What's the score?" I ask
"Tied." Allia says
"At what?"
"Zero" Nyllie says
"How many times have you two done it?"
"Twenty, twenty one..." Allia says
Oh, lord help me....
"Okay, first one to win well...wins...and you can use something else besides paper." I say
They look at me for a second, then back to each other and continue. It goes on for about five more minutes before it finally happens.
Nyllie wins.
Their faces are priceless.
Nyllie almost jumps up in joy, but stops herself and resumes dere mode. Allia on the other hand simply nods and looks away, accepting defeat, but I see her clench her fist in anger.
"Alright, let's go!" I yell
I hop on the wagon, Nyllie climbs in as well. Allia and Tyra get in the other wagon and we head off, slowly. Wait why did we leave at night? Fuck that's going to mess up our sleeping schedule. I glance back at Nyllie who was staring at me.
She jumped back once I looked at her, her face red a little, but she manages to compose herself.
"Do you know how far the Elven Kingdom is by chance?"
"Shouldn't you be asking the elf?"
"You're closer."
"And you're surprisingly lazy."
I shrug, I don't deny it.
"About a week or two I guess. Allia how far are the borders to the elven kingdom?" Nyllie asks
Allia thinks for a second.
"We should be out of Locas in about a week and we should reach the borders in another one. That's if we keep up a consistent pace." she says
I nod and lean back. Should be a breeze then. Why do I feel nervous?

Heart of Cultivation
Book one is now available for purchase or download through Kindle Unlimited! Jian was a prodigy, at least until he discovered that his path of cultivation had hit a dead end almost as soon as it began. That was all years ago, though. He has long since resigned himself to his fate and prepared himself for a dull, ordinary, but happy life. Stunted cultivation or no, he's clever enough to carve out his own comfortable niche. Unfortunately, not all of the matters from his past have been settled. When a reckless mistake threatens to cost him everything, Jian will have to prove that he's desperate enough to rise to the occasion. Or that he's capable of avoiding the consequences. This is an affectionate reconstruction of the xianxia genre. I will be deploying the tropes from the genre that I enjoy in a framework that I think makes sense. The story updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes other days.
