《The Novel's Unifier》Chapter 20 - Faculty Politics (1)

"If I am?" Danny asked, dodging the question.
"I respect you," he said, bowing to him again. "And I shall leave you with your choices. No matter how bad they are," he added under his breath. He left the room, looking back with slight fear.
Sarah and Percy both jumped onto Danny, grabbing his clothes, sobbing.
"Thank you so much," Percy cried, tears flowing like a river.
Danny pushed him back, repeating, "It's alright, it's alright."
After Percy had calmed down, he pulled Sarah away from his clothes.
"Anyway," Danny spoke after Sarah calmed down. "What was that all about?"
"He was an Exploration Club member. They've been hounding on us to move out of this building, even before the official announcement," Percy explained. His face turned sour as he spoke about the Exploration Club. "Anyway, welcome to the clubhouse. Sorry it's in such a state."
"It's alright. You got anything to clean with?" Percy answered Danny's question with a nod, moving over to a closet. He opened it, showing cleaning supplies.
Danny picked up a broom, and started sweeping the debris.
It took until the bell tolled for them to stop cleaning. They weren't done, of course, and the three agreed they would leave it to tomorrow.
"Remember to bring back the note," Percy reminded. Danny nodded, walking towards the Faculty Office.
He pulled out the note, reading and signing whatever parts he could. He filled out all of the important bits, the ones that weren't optional, and knocked on the front door of the building.
The man who greeted him was a pudgy, greasy man who was rolling with fat. He was also in the middle of balding, and smiled so widely Danny could see what he last ate.

'A revolting man,' Danny thought to himself.
"What can I do for you?" he asked, his breath stinking up the air around him. Before Danny could even speak, he continued, "Oh, a Club application! Have you heard about the Exploration Club? We get to travel to many different places, seeing-"
Danny tuned his voice out after that, keeping the application out of his hands. They looked like they would soak it. Plus, everything he was saying about the Exploration Club was a complete lie. At least until this man was kicked out of the Academy over an 'incident' with a female cadet.
Since it didn't seem like the man would shut up soon, Danny interrupted him. "Where is Hector Greal?"
"Ah, come to gloat about the disintegration of his Club, right? Haha, come with me," he said. He seemed to have misunderstood Danny's intentions, but Danny had no reason to explain it to him.
He led him to a room with the nameplate 'Hector Greal', engraved in bold.
"Alright, sir," Danny said, gaining the man's attention. "I can do the rest myself."
"Confident, are we?" The question was rhetorical, as he held his belly laughing. "Alright, go on ahead. I'll be waiting."
Danny ignored the man, instead going to knock on the door. He heard a faint, 'Come in,' so he pushed the door open.
What greeted him was an ecstatic man who seemed to be jumping on his heels. He was nearly the opposite of the previous man: Tall, not greasy, a good face.
"There's only two reasons for a student to be in a teacher's office," he stated, jumping from one foot to the other. "One is, they need to give something to the teacher. The other is to insult the teacher, or their Club's. Now, you don't look like the type to insult. So, what is it?"

He spoke quickly, leaving no openings for Danny to intercept. Thankfully, he left a gap at the end.
"I'm here to hand in a Club Application Form," Danny answered, holding out the form. Hector grabbed it quickly, skimming through it in an instant.
He finished reading it, putting it through a photocopier. "Alright, it looks good. Oh, I can't wait for a Noble to be in our Club. You know, we haven't had one for more than a decade."
There was a 'Ding' sound that came from the computer. Hector's head snapped towards it, and a smile lit up his face. "One moment, please." He dashed out the door.
Soon after, a loud, 'Hah, suck it, Noy!' could be heard throughout the entire building.

Casa do Diaño: The Fool
As Thomas Hobbes once said, "Humans are driven by a perpetual and restless desire for power." Given the heavily moral standards society has placed on its inhabitants for centuries, it's no wonder many people deny their internal need to be in control of something. "Oh, we do not want to rule the world at all! We just want to live happy and die happy!" Of course, the irony there is that, by wanting a happy future, you are actually projecting your own desires and opinions into what the world should be like. Hence your inner monarch banging his/her scepter for all their subjects to hear. Though to be fair, this is a pretty small, small example. Why settle for small? Why not go the extra mile and become that vicious monarch pounding his scepter at his feet? This is the story of a young man by the name of Genghis Dillinger Boy. There are quite a few words that can describe Genghis. Anarchist. Libertine. Criminal. Psychopath. He has denied the moral standards society has set for him and constantly lives his life seeking more and more power. Once an unexpected turn occurs in his life, he uses it as an excuse to burn his bridges and move him and his bride to a mysterious island known as Casa do Diaño. Genghis vows to burn the old world to the ground and watch as his brand new world arises from the ashes. But what if he's biting off more than he can chew? After all, monsters like Genghis are not the only kind of monsters lurking in the House of the Devil...

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
