《The Novel's Unifier》Chapter 11 - First Lecture (2)

The room was silent, as everyone looked towards the Instructor. He seemed shocked by Danny's answer.

"Good answer," he finally said. Everyone started speaking to each other. They said things like, 'How'd he know that?', 'That's just up to heritage, I guess', or similar things. "But, there are no places called 'Australia'. For making up an area, your score can be taken down."

Danny was surprised by that answer. Then, he remembered that the old world barely had any form of records. After all, Mana wiped out most information stored in normal books and all across the internet. As if it was seeking information. At least, that was his headcannon. It was never confirmed. "But, sir, what happens if Australia is a real place?" Danny asked.

"If it is, then I'll give you top marks in all written exams. After all, it has been centuries." Ok Hwang grinned, sure of himself being right.

"And if it isn't, then I'll give you something from the Vault," Danny retorted. Ok Hwang flinched.

The Vault was the storage of all Items possessed by the Royal Family, across the entirety of the time since Items first appeared.

"How do you know about Australia?" the 'Extra' asked, coldly. "It shouldn't be known yet." Danny could feel something cold on his skin. Danny looked to Ok Hwang, but he had turned around, as if she wasn't there.

"Kill me," Danny whispered, quietly enough that no one heard him, "And you will regret it." Even though he said that, he had no confidence in her not killing him.

It took only a moment before a 'Tsk' was heard, as the blade moved away. "I'll be back to kill you. When I'm more powerful than even the Emperor. I'm just letting you live, since you're good looking. So don't misunderstand." She sounded serious, as she stood up, and left the room.

Danny slid a finger across his neck, feeling something wet. He knew, before he could even see it, that it was blood. But it was discoloured. Blackish. Maybe the poison was still running through his body. But his head hit the table before he could even understand.

Pia glanced back, towards the boy who took credit from her. She wasn't very talented in fighting, so her only hope of being a Hero, or Guardian as it's official name, was through being the smartest in the room. She felt sick at her own thoughts of being untalented, but the sight of August dropping, head first, struck her like an arrow.

His forehead hit the table as she said, "Something's wrong with August!"

Everyone hesitated to go up to him, even if he was knocked out. But it was Arogel, ranked first in combat, who got to him fastest. Lifting up his head, Pia could see black liquid flowing from his neck. 'That should be blood, shouldn't it?' she thought to herself, though she still didn't move.

She watched Arogel drape his finger across the supposed blood, then licked his finger. "Poison," he stated. "Maybe high-rank paralytic poison. But there's something else there. Something even stronger. But it's old." He spat out the blood. Pia glanced into his eyes, seeing two different colours. Brown and black. One, the colour of Demons, the other Human.

She pulled her eyes away from his eyes, afraid to meet them. The last time she looked him in the eyes, she felt weak for the rest of the day.

"Take him to the Infirmary, then!" Instructor Ok Hwang yelled. Arogel nodded, then lifted August faster than she could see. Even faster, he reached the open door. "Just what I need. A poisoned student, on his first lecture, even. Excuse me, students, but did any of you see what caused that?" He didn't get a reply, as all of them looked away. Except for Pia, who looked at him, though she had no idea what happened.

"Wait, sir," Pia called, realising something.

"Yes, Pia?" he answered, patiently.

"Wasn't the door shut when the lecture started? And it was opened before he reached it." Pia wasn't sure if the Instructor would believe her, but other students agreed.

"Yeah, it was, wasn't it?" a voice said, quietly. After that, it was a cacophony of people agreeing that the door was closed after August entered and was opened before Arogel left.

"Alright, another..." Ok Hwang sighed, stopping himself. "Alright, everyone, be quiet. We'll continue the lecture. As if nothing happened."
