《The Novel's Unifier》Chapter 6 - Gluttony (1)

Danny kept an eye on the orange haired kid. He was read to run away, as his legs were angled backward.
Danny, as if without a care in the world, walked over to the boy.
"Oh, yes," he answered, "I believe we do understand. And we also understand that you are quite powerful. But that's fine by me." He was mostly speaking so that the boy didn't run, but at this point, he wasn't that hopeful. Danny put a hand on the boy's shoulder, then glared into his eyes.
"Fighting over me, already?" she asked. She was laughing, loudly. There was a small piece of rock that hit Danny's hand. "There's no use for that, though. I've already decided on setting you free." Even with all eight eyes, I could tell she was looking only at me.
"What's your name, kid?" he stealthily asked.
The boy responded, quietly, "Ronny. My name's Ronny."
"Now," bowing with all the grace he could muster, "Ronny and I must be leaving."
Before Danny and Ronny even had the chance to turn around, she said, "No, I only said you could leave. I'll keep the other one."
Danny's polite smile faltered for just a second, but was quickly covered. "Well, pardon my words, but I would not like it for you to be left with another man, alone. It just wouldn't be right." Danny felt his head go into overdrive, as his previous plan failed.
One of the Spider's legs moved, accurately moving a hair out of Danny's sight. When the leg came down again, Danny noticed some dust falling from the ceiling.
"When I say go, run around her left." Danny hoped she hadn't heard what he said. Thankfully, she hadn't. "And run like the wind."

Ronny seemed like he wouldn't follow the plan, if it was a normal situation. But it wasn't. His only way out was Danny.
"Oh? Bringing the boy?" she asked, as a drop of drool dripped down her mouth. Once it hit the floor, Danny could see it melt through the ground. "You must have guessed that I was hungry."
With what she said, Danny hesitated. He thought he remembered about something, but couldn't be quite sure. "Why, of course I did," Danny squeaked out.
From where he was standing, he could see under the Spider's abdomen. A symbol that covered the entirety of the abdomen was there, in the shape of a slice of meat. Steak, he was pretty sure, though there was no colour beside the natural purple fur.
He had remembered this character, but didn't want to believe it. Gluttony, one the Seven Deadly Sins. She was one of the strongest Demon's, in the future, but it was never stated when she was born.
Now, Danny wasn't so sure of his plan, simply because Gluttony got stronger the more she ate. But he couldn't think of anything else.
So, with one more step forward, he said, "Get ready to have your meal." He could feel Ronny tense beneath his hand. "Now, go!" Without looking at what Ronny was doing, Danny sprinted just under where the Spider legs were attached, forming a right arc.
"You tricked me!" Gluttony screamed, as she began to shift around. However, it only served to be her doom.
She knocked against one of the already unstable walls, causing a large fissure to be formed. That fissure went all the way up to the ceiling, where the roof would, hopefully, fall.
Danny had finished running, and was waiting for Ronny to appear. He would only give him 10 seconds to appear, otherwise he was going further in.

10. The first rock fell, landing on Gluttony's massive body.
Nine. Even more rocks started to fall, though it wasn't to the point he was happy with.
Eight. Gluttony was a quarter-turned to him, though she couldn't get past the width of the passage.
Seven. The rocks now really started to fall.
Six. Gluttony broke past the ridge with brute force, causing more rocks to fall faster.
Five. Gluttony screeched, so loudly that Danny's ears hurt.
Four. He saw Ronny, doubled over, just barely under Gluttony's abdomen.
Three. He felt his body move before he thought to, running to Ronny.
Two. The rocks seemed to cause Gluttony to drop a little, as she had trouble holding it all up.
One. Danny pulled out Ronny.
Zero. Gluttony fell, collapsing under the weight above her.
"I will get you!" Gluttony screamed, though she was muffled from the wall of rubble.
"You alright?" Danny asked, more to himself than to Ronny.
But still, Ronny answered with a nod.
Danny stood up. "We don't have much time, so come on."
Ronny followed Danny, quietly, as if he was scared for his life.
Danny went deeper into the Dungeon, finding no Monsters that could hurt them, as they were all strung up. Although, the deeper he went in, the worse the corpses became.
Ronny barely spoke, which Danny was fine with.
As if he was holding in his question, Ronny spoke quickly, "How did you come up with that plan?"
Danny hadn't really known. Honestly, he was just hoping for something to work. But, instead of saying the truth, he tapped his head. "I'm not that dumb. I mean, how quickly could it turn?" He knew the answer was very quickly, if she had eaten more. "Thankfully, she must've been young."
That must've also been the reason why there was only a little bit of webs on the floor.

Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
