《The Novel's Unifier》Chapter 4 - A Trip Outside (1)

Danny woke with a start. His stomach growled, loudly echoing through the room. The smell of meat, and something else, brought him up to his feet.
The source of the smell was quickly found, and just as quickly eaten. He had no idea what it was called, but it was delicious. It seemed quite expensive, which made him hesitate to eat it at first.
While eating, he had been sneaking glances around the room. It was large, though it felt much larger than it could have been. The few decorations were lavish, being made out of very shiny metals. Silver and gold, mostly. But there was one thing that seemed a cut above the rest, trying to show off its shine. The sword that he swung earlier shook excitedly as he looked at it.
Danny looked away as a vibration came from the phone.
Looking at the message, it read:
[Good effort! However, there are plenty of talented people. So try harder! After all, your death would be boring at this rate.]
Danny shivered at the ominous message, quickly moving onto his Status. He hesitated to look at it, eventually deciding not to. With just a couple hours of training, it wouldn't have changed much.
Danny grabbed the sword, hanging it from his waist through his belt.
Danny stopped in front of the door. This was a different door. Compared to yesterday's silver door, this one was made from wood, designed to look shabby. Unreasonably so. Some part of him wanted be angry, but that would have been a waste of time. Thankfully, it covered the entire passage, and worked properly.
"Young Master, you're awake?" Ron's voice caused Danny to jump.
"Yes," Danny replied, angling his body to hide the sword more. It seemed like Ron wanted it, though the look in his eyes changed. "I'm leaving for today. No need for escorts." In truth, Danny just didn't want anyone to follow him.

Ron nodded. "Make sure you come back before you have to leave." Ron wrote something on his hand, though Danny couldn't read what it said.
Danny left Ron's presence, though he wandered for a while. He didn't find the doors that lead outside for a long time, though he noticed something. Most of the servants working in this mansion were women that seemed terrified of him. The ones that greeted him were shaking, while others tried to avoid him. Danny found it weird, but didn't say anything about it.
Eventually, Danny did find the exit. The doors were massive, just like the building he came out of. No wonder it took such a long time. The front yard was absolutely disgusting, as the grass was outgrown only by the amount of weeds. Danny kept his hands above his waist, since the grass looked sharp.
There was a rusty gate that was left open by whoever last came through. The guard looking after it, inside a booth, was snoring. Danny slipped through the gate.
The streets of the city were quite close. If he recalled correctly, he was in the city Genos, once a grand city. He recalled something about how the death of August Reginald VI led to the destruction of the city, though he didn't know how.
But the buildings could rival the mansion in sheer size. In beauty, it was the difference of Heaven and Earth, with the mansion being the Earth. He really needed to fix that, but he was leaving for the Academy soon.
There was no one in the streets, with most shops closed. Danny could see many people in houses, peering out at him. It seemed like they were hiding from him.
Danny felt himself shiver when he realised that. 'How bad was the previous owner of this body?' he thought, though he didn't want to know the answer.

It was a cold day, he decided. He should have brought a coat, but he hadn't.
Danny pulled out the phone, remembering something. "Where is the nearest Dungeon?"
[Cannot answer that question. Try again.]
Danny hadn't been expecting that answer. "Why can't it be answered?" he asked, hoping for a good answer.
[Closest to who? Where? What level? Include those.]
"Where is-" he tried asking again, but some kids were speaking to him.
"Hey, it's the bastard," one of them called, with orange hair.
Danny tilted his head, trying to figure out their relationship. In the end, he asked, "Do I know you?"
Another one, with black hair, called out, "Where are our mothers?" Another one, one with brown hair, spat at him. It landed right on his face.
Danny wiped it off with his sleeves, eerily silent during the process. "What did you do with them!?" another, high-spirited kid yelled.
"Who are your mothers, again?" The orange-haired one flinched at his question.
"Martha Hearth," he called out, through gritted teeth. Danny nodded.
"I see. And you?" The one with black hair took a step back, noticing Danny's eerily calm eyes.
"Willow Pirth," he answered, though he couldn't meet his eyes.
Danny sighed. "You kids must've had such great mothers to worry about them this much. I promise, I'll help you find them later. But, right now, I've got places to be. And here." Danny took some coins out from a pouch by his side. He gave each of them an equal amount of coins, and finished speaking with: "You kids are looking a little skinny."
All of them were stunned. Too stunned to go after his back, only watching it getting farther and farther. "Was he ever like that?" the orange haired boy asked.
The black haired one shook his head. "He was too calm."

Midara: Requiem
"When the alternative is extinction, all acts, no matter how heinous, are permitted." The story of a little necromancer who only wants to play with abominations against all that is holy dollies and her horsey, Mister Clackybones. Welcome to the novelization of one script I designed for a video game setting I call Midara (I selected the name of a genus of moths for symbolism purposes, not to be confused with anything else). Once upon a time, I dreamed of the setting being the next Final Fantasy. Long story short: Nope. Requiem itself is meant to be an Open-World RPG which adapts to the choices of the player. This is just one of many, many paths that one might follow in Requiem's gameplay, if it ever becomes a game.

Game Dungeon
A recently deceased man finds himself imprisoned in a prismatic gem, confused and missing pieces of his memory he wishes to play video games, but to his horror, he is stuck in a world of sword and magic. Hello! I am the writer of Game Dungeon thanks for your feedback! Although my intentions were not to insult the reader I can see how someone would think that way. I have no plans to change it as of now and it's better to put it out there as a warning that I use a lot of words with similar meanings but are used very irregularly. Honestly speaking my English teacher was weird and a lot of words I use are more complicated than they need to be, but again something I was drilled into was not reusing words apart from "I".
