V3 Chapter 91
Having gotten the knight’s assist, Jonathan was full of vigor.
The sword in his hand was waved just like a reaper’s scythe, and without making use of any ability, his formidable physical power erupted.
With each slash of his sword, the head or limbs of a Fishman was cut off. Then, he would turn toward the next. He would quickly close the wide distance between him and his target in an instant.
With his magic Sword in hand, he cut the throat of the front-most Fishman. Then immediately turn around, targeting the slightly bigger and burlier Fishman holding a harpoon.
Seeing the sword come at him at incomparably fast speeds, the leader of the Fishmen underwent a drastic change as he realized that he wasn’t able to react in time to block with his weapon. Hastily, he twisted the entire top half of his body to dodge this fatal sword strike and without hesitation, he retreated backward to gain some distance from his enemy.
Oh? He’s good!
Jonathan’s eyes narrowed in surprise.
To think a Fishman would be able to dodge his attack.
This Fishman is different from the others.
Jonathan stared at the Fishman Warrior with a curious gaze, knowing this particular Fishman warrior is a league above other Fishmen he had fought, but they are still weaker than them. But indeed, among the group of monsters, there are a few who were capable. It seems like Rain claiming that these monsters are strong is real. He mused.
“Mmmrrgllm, mrgmemele!”
The Fishman cried out in anger and once again waved his hand, commanding another group of new Fishmen to come out from the river, and rush toward them.
… …
Ear-splitting shouts, screams, collisions, and metallic sounds rang continuously around them.
Rain jumped back and furrowed his brows.
When he thought the fight ended, another group of Fishmen came out from the river and started attacking them almost endlessly.
This was the fourth group they have met, and each was stronger than the last and more in number. Even with their confidence to win, still, they are starting to feel the pressure.
Not only the Fishmen but more, powerful monsters appeared, blocking their way.
As they proceeded forward, the stronger the monsters appeared.
Roel, who tanked almost a dozen by himself was also being pushed back. Still, he didn’t have any complaints and carried on defending in the front without even taking a step back.
A smooth golden mist was produced, undulating around him. Seven strange golden symbols were rapidly spread around, enveloping an approximately 20-meter diameter.
Immediately, the golden mist surrounded Jonathan and the others; it looked a bit like when a knight was using the ability Guardian’s Heart, which increased the Knight’s overall capabilities by double.
This was one of the famous abilities of the Knight Class, Guardian’s Protection.
It consumed his magical energy to increase the power and recovery rate of his comrades by 30%.
At this moment, Roel, the Shield Knight, not only tanked most monsters reducing his comrade's burden but was also displaying his formidable support capabilities.
Guardian’s Protection plus Holy Oath, in addition to Guardian’s Favor, were unleashed.
These three aura-type abilities instantly strengthened the whole team.
At the same time, he pointed the battle mace forward like a wand, tracing ten lines of white light, and the nearby monsters and Fishmen were instantly shaken, and they fell.
Holy Light.
The Sacred Light that punishes evil.
Roel incapacitated almost all nearby monsters around him, before letting out a loud war cry that stunned the nearby monsters.

Jin in the rear was shooting fire spells continuously such as Fireballs and Fire Lances. When the monsters targeted him, he would immediately retreat, and use WildFire, to avoid encirclement, igniting his surrounding in a sea of flames.
The terror of fire was much more effective against the raging Fishmen than imagined, that they immediately wailed and screamed, like a fish in a boiling pan. They couldn’t even come close and can only shoot at him with arrows or spears. Though, Jin easily blocked them with a red-colored barrier that surrounded him.
“There’s no end to them,”
Zia narrowed her eyes, though, she remained focused, and lightning sparks crackled around her.
She brandished her sword, twirling it a few times, and then leaped forward, disappearing from where she stood earlier. She gave a Fishman Warrior blocking her front a side glance, then slashed her sword like usual.
Baaang!!
The Fishman was immediately killed by the sword without any resistance, showing her power. Not only that, but the one-handed sword with a beautiful purpled colored, lightning-shaped hilt appeared incomparably sharp weapon as well, greatly boosting her destructive potential.
Although the monsters had a strong defense, that was only in comparison to normal Lv3 Human warriors. Aside from her strength, her weapon was one of the rare, High-tier weapons.
The [Lightning Blade], a weapon that enables her to channel mana through the blade easily, and convert them into electricity, increasing the damage done by her.
In front of her weapon, the defensive capabilities of the monsters and Fishmen were no different than a piece of paper!
“Flickering Lightning Blade!”
“Thunder Rage!!”
“Lightning Sparrow!”
“Baang!” “Booom!” “Baang!” “Booom!” “Baang!” “Swiiiish!”
“…This makes me sweaty,”
As Zia killed her way, monsters and Fishmen were reaped like wheat.
“Indeed, they sure are endless,”
Jonathan shot forward, a disdainful smile appeared on his lips as his footsteps became faster.
The Fishmen and monsters immediately rushed toward him.
“…though, that’s what I expect from the Desolate Cave. This kind of battle, how long has it been?” his eyes became focused as he used his vision to find the perfect spot. The spot where all the monsters could attack, the heart of the semi-circle formation!
His body jerked and he jumped into the air, landing right on the point as he calculated. Then, with a blurry image of his figure, Jonathan swung his sword around him, causing blood to splatter in every direction, and knocking everything back.
Several of the Fishman was able to block his attack and immediately attack with vengeance- moving with incredible speed- swung a razored sword that seemed filled with shark teeth, at him.
But Jonathan didn’t even bat an eyelid. He let out a smirk, and his sword gleamed with an azure light.
"The enemy seemed to be prepared to die. Don’t show weakness!"
Rain frowned his brows.
“But this is weird,” he said softly, his voice laded with thick suspicion.
From what he knows, Fishmen might be super territorial madmen, but they are not idiots, and actually more cowardly, only attacking when they had overwhelming force, and that they’d bailed immediately if you put up sufficient resistance, only to be back with even more terrifying force.
But the Fishmen that were attacking them seemed to be different from what he knows.
The actions of these mad fishes seemed downright suicidal to him.
If nothing strange is at play here, then, they must have walked through the most fanatical Fishmen in the world.

What is going on here?
Rain wondered.
Jonathan frowned upon seeing the new group of Fishmen that seemed to be quite stronger than the previous.
As he was about to charge, at this moment, *sou* a sound was heard.
A cold light cut across from the shadows of the corner.
Sensing a movement, Jonathan turned towards the source and immediately saw it.
It’s an arrow.
The arrow had cut through the gap of the branch at an extremely tricky angle and headed for the Fishman leader he had just fought.
It seems like the Fishman warrior was also caught off guard, and when it tried to dodge, it was slightly late, and the arrow lodged perfectly on his right shoulder.
The Fishman warrior wailed and fell from the high ground and into the river, landing heavily on the water and causing a slight wave. That Fishman warrior struggled on the water but was unable to get back up.
At this moment, Zia, accompanied by a lightning bolt suddenly appeared beside the Fishman Warrior who laid limply on the water, and with her sword, chop downwards.
*Plop*
The blood of that Fishman splattered, its head cut off, and it died.
Before the Fishmen reacted, Zia conjured a lightning bolt and struck the water. Immediately, it electrocuted the surrounding Fishman.
With that, Zia, like a storm, executed everything around her.
“Ms. Zia, don’t rush further forward! Back up! Lure them onto dry land!”
At this moment, Rain’s voice echoed in the forest, on his hand was an azure bow.
Zia who was about to chase further, immediately stop, and run back.
At this moment, another group of Fishmen warriors appeared from the river, furious, and immediately chased after her.
“... divine flame, protect those who worship you, and punish those who insult you! Fire Storm!!”
Jin, ending his incantation, summoned a tornado of flames, increasing the temperature in the surrounding. Then, the small tornado of flames, rushed forward, running towards the Fishmen that was chasing after Zia.
Seeing the incredible tornado of flames, the Fishmen shriek in fear, and hurriedly run towards the river. Those who were in the rear were lucky, and they hurriedly dived back into the water. But those who are further in the land were immediately engulfed in the firestorm.
Screams and wails echoed in the forest, and a burnt smell wafted in the area.
The firestorm lasted for a few minutes, and when it disappeared, scorched and burnt black corpses of the Fishmen started falling from the air one after another.
“An incredible spell, but not environmentally friendly,”
Rain smiled wryly as he looks around the plants and trees that were also scorched black.
The fire is still spreading, and there was even a chance it might spread and become a wildfire.
Fortunately, at this moment, a water wave rushed forth, killing the embers of flames in the surrounding area. He turned at the source and saw Jonathan raising his hand.
Despite being a swordsman his magic damage, and even range is also good.
Perhaps, he’s stronger than a normal elite magician?
Rain was amazed.
Jonathan is already as strong as Lafetti and the other elite Lamians in close combat. But it seems like his magic ability was not behind as well. Among the superhumans he had met up until now, Jonathan is indeed above the rest.
Looking at the area covered with burnt corpses, Rain couldn’t help but let out a sigh. Magic is amazing. Though, not worth mentioning, the group of Fishmen they had encountered was still above forty in numbers. And yet, in an instant, all of them were reduced to burned corpses. Very strong.
Jonathan fell into deep thought for a moment before turning toward Jin.
“Jin, conserve your mana. If the enemy didn’t exceed the safety margins, don’t fight,”
Jin nodded his head. Indeed, they didn’t know how many enemies they might encounter along the way. Even if he has a good grasp of his magic power, if the enemies continued to relentlessly come, he would be depleted before arriving at their destination.
Unlike Rain who can rapidly regenerate mana, human beings need a very long time. Even if they do possess enhanced mana regeneration skills, it’s not as perverted as Rain and would take a very long time to completely recover depleted mana. That is why the very basic ability of Mages is to know how to conserve their mana in battle. And with their skills consuming too much mana, they need to think hard and decide carefully what spell to use.
“They’re coming again,”
Rain who was watching his phone furrowed his brows.
Dozens of red dots were rushing towards their location. Just as he said that bubbles appeared on the river, and then, suddenly the water rose. A large wave appeared rushing towards them.
Jonathan and the others immediately made a stance, preparing to counter, but suddenly, Noir appeared in front of the group. With its massive figure, it let out a loud hiss and its tail slammed against the water wave.
Booom!!
The wave was immediately destroyed, and the countless cry of fear and pain rang out from behind, as dozens of Fishmen could be seen flying around, blasted by the impact of the Winged Evil Serpent.
Noir let out a menacing hiss, as a fierce expression appeared on her wide-gleaming eyes.
Noir raised her head, and with a wide-open mouth, caught a flying Fishman and swallowed it whole. She then swam on the river and started attacking the other Fishmen.
Jonathan and the others tilted their head, wry smiles appearing on their faces.
With the Winged Evil Serpent, no matter how many Fishmen there are, they would be slaughtered. The Winged Evil Serpent overwhelmed the entire Fishman warriors in the river. No matter how many came, the Winged Evil Serpent can still kill them.
“...MMmrgmmlll!! (devouring serpent)!”
Rain listened to the cries of the Fishmen who was being slaughtered by the Winged Evil Serpent.
It seems like the Fishmen could recognize Noir, as they keep on crying out that name.
Suddenly, at this moment, the situation changed.
Noir appeared on the surface of the water, and let out a loud hiss.
Rain’s expression changed immediately- he can feel pain, and anger in her voice.
Then, suddenly, from the river, massive tentacles came out, coiling around Noir. Just from this, Rain immediately realizes what was going on. Surely, there’s something in the water. A monster capable of hurting Noir!
“Noir!”
Rain cried out in anxiety.
“Mmmrrgllm, mrgle nk!”
Baaaaaang!!!
“Cryaaaahhhh!!”
“Guh-?!”
A loud voice echoed, and then immediately after, a tremendous blast came out from the river.
Noir was blasted out of the water, crashing to the ground.
Rain who had come to the shore was immediately hit by the impact from the blast and was knocked back as well.

8 60Binary of Life and Death
Monsters, gold, chaos, glory, adventure, what more could attract two of the greatest players of all time to Sugarea, the most popular MMORPG of its time. But everyone makes errors, and unfortunate for these two brilliant players, they have made the grave mistake of not actually sleeping like normal humans and missed out on the very moment the new Dark Legion update would take effect. Or did they? They wake in what seems familiar yet not, but they soon realize their predicament. They are inside their game avatar's bodies! A half-Demon and a Dragonoid are now struggling with more than just power, these two men have to find their new purpose and calling in a completely different world. Will they concur it like ordinary land or will they enlighten the planet into equality? Do figures pull strings in the dark or is everything open to the public eye? Nothing is certain except the unknown, and nothing is ever as it seems... This is an Isekai story, as such, some parts may sound either cliché or similar to others, but I assure you, I tried to prevent that. To make it known, I took quite a lot of inspiration from the light novel/anime Overlord, but that doesn't mean it's a direct rip-off of it. You'll find there to be quite the amount of differences. Just a little heads up as well, you should expect irregular uploads, as it takes me a long time to write each chapter. I am currently trying for once every other week on Sundays around 10:00 A.M. Chapters are usually 7k words and up, with the longest (chapter 3) being 10.3k words. So, if you like to sit down and read a long chapter every two weeks at 10:00 A.M. EST on Sundays, then you can waste your time here! Small disclaimer: Profanity is far and few between, and mostly used by side characters, rarely the main character. When something with gore happens, I describe to the best of my ability, which will only get better the longer I write this... :) Small cuts between perspectives happen, and can hide what some characters do, which will be revealed in future chapters, I'm not that lazy... all the time... There are some parts that are long blocks of text, most, if not all, of them, are characters talking, but I try not to info dump. I know one of the tags says "Psychological", and for the most part, it is, but it's not as prominent as other stories, instead, it's more hidden and scattered, but I did try to make the pieces I did reveal all fit together. Cover art is bound to be changed when I have a good picture to use, so the Yin-Yang is a placeholder for now unless yall wanna gimme something to use *wink wink nudge nudge*. So yeah, please give it a try, as I have nothing better to do with my life, and I am banking solely off of a career in literature and am hoping that I can create a story that can actually be called something more than a child's imagination running wild. The eventual and inevitable end to the story won't be for a long while, at least till chapter 40 or so. I have thought long and hard about the message and themes at play, so I hope you, the reader (who has some amazing hair btw), can enjoy and partake on this adventure with me into my dark empty pit of an imagination.
