《Path of Salvation》Chapter 038.5B: Prometheia II

Prometheia woke up to the sound of something sizzling in the kitchen. The smell made her hungry despite the lack of need for food. She simply eats it for taste and texture. Stepping into the kitchen she was surprised to find Aqua.
"Did you sleep well? I'm sorry for barging in and simply making use of your kitchen," she said. Nonchalantly talking to Prometheia as if she hadn't just tried to kill her…
Prometheia was perplexed as to why Aqua would go from fighting to the death to taking care of her. However, she also didn't want to upset Aqua while everyone else was away and simply nodded as she backed out of the room. Heading towards the living room several thoughts were swirling around within her head. As soon as she lied down in her Z-form, she let out a quiet sigh.
"Is this a hostage situation?!", she wondered. "She's probably gonna interrogate me and kill me after that! Isn't she known for being dutiful and ruthless!"
Aqua was done with preparing a meal. Two plates for the two of them… Eggs, bacon, and mini wieners were squeezed into a sandwich.
"What? Are you not hungry?", asked Aqua. "I'm sorry. I should have waited until you were awake to start making a meal."
"Why are you trying to be… nice?"
Aqua understood that there was some rather intense tension between them prior to their battle but she had put that aside for now as her hate lies within the Z species and not Prometheia.
"I was wrong about you. You're just like us and deserve respect and dignity. I'm sorry…"
She was rather monotone and tried to keep it short whenever she opened her mouth to talk.
"No I should be sorry! Had I made myself clear I could have cleared up this misunderstanding!", Prometheia replied. Though it was strange to just suddenly blurt that out after nearly being killed, she thought it was necessary. "I'm Z. I deserve this hostility."
Aqua said no more. She didn't want to say anything out of line and didn't know how to have casual conversations with people. Prometheia still was rather fearful of Aqua and didn't want to say anything that could set her off. Deciding to turn human and eat whatever Aqua had put together she noticed that it was rather greasy but still quite delicious. Elena would never put together anything that came too close to fast food meaning that nothing ever was crunchy. There barely was any bread involved her meals and things were always cooked to be soft. Franky and Ben also never put together fast food. They were adamant on being healthy meaning that a lot of time was just spent eating rice with all kinds of flavors. Alpha couldn't cook. The one time he did try to cook something, it burned as he set the heat too high with the belief that double the amount would mean half the time spent on cooking.

"I-!", said the two at the same time.
Aqua decided to go first. She asked Prometheia, "How about some time out in the city. I've been wanting to change into something new since that is pretty much the only thing I wear."
The two of them ventured out into the city. Silently walking around, Aqua set her gaze on a coffee shop. Prometheia had grown a little taller in her human form now looking like a ten-year-old. Noticing Aqua's gaze, she traced it back to an item displayed in there. Ice cream shaped like the head of a bear caught Aqua's attention.
"Do you want to go in?", asked Prometheia. It was a hot summer afternoon and therefore not that unusual for people to take refuge in these coffee shops.
"No. I'm here for buying casual wear."
"Come on! I want to go!", added Prometheia in hopes of making Aqua believe that they're entering just for Prometheia and not for her.
"Fine. If you insist."
The inside of the coffee shop was a lot cooler than the outside. With a few fans keeping the customers cool and ice cream being served on the side, it was rather easy to get chilly in there. Prometheia ordered two of the ice cream bears under the guise of being a glutton. After getting seated with their cold desert, Prometheia pretended to be incapable of eating the two servings even with her bottomless stomach.
"It's so sweet and cold!", said Aqua not used to having snacks like these. She's never had something sugary to eat and simply wasn't ever allowed to ever have an opinion on these things. Growing up in a house similar to the one Daisy grew up in, she had a lot less access to these things. Whenever she did have access to them, she was out on a mission restraining herself from having these delicious things.
"What? Never had ice cream?", Prometheia asked jokingly.
"This is my first time…" Like a child in awe of the new discovery she's made, she let he facade slip and allow Prometheia a glance at her true self. Within her plain white dress, she discovered a new wonder of this world.
Moving on to the next location, Aqua finally made herself aquainted with proper fast food. Chicken wings and chicken nuggets all in one for the two of them to share… With a total of twenty of these two chicken based fast foods, the two had plenty to splurge on. Even if she is trying to maintain that dignified and graceful look of apathy and indifference, she can't help but soften up a little.
The day went on just like this. Spending money on food here… Spending money on toys there… and occasionally picking out an outfit or two. After a long time spent together, they decided to part ways as it was starting to get dark outside. The two parted ways with Aqua even revealing what she looks like smiling. A feint smile was to be seen all over her face as Prometheia made her way to Ben.

Ben and Prometheia were dining together. Silently, the two were dining with Nyx and Loriel. The four of them didn't talk at all. Several times, Loriel would attempt to start a conversation. Whenever she did try that, everyone else would shoot her attempts down with simple a “Yeah”, a “Sure”, or a “Aha”. To get her and Nyx away from them, Prometheia decided to trick them with false alerts of Demons. The two of them split up and went after the two supposed threats while Prometheia and Ben followed through with their plans.
"So… do you have the gadget?", Ben asked.
"We don't need it. My domain will suffice, okay!"
A quick flash of white light sent the two of them into Prometheia's domain. Thanks to Aqua it has evolved to have a reflective plane with a sheet of water over it. Rather reflective and occasionally releasing ripples even when they stood still, it was a rather beautiful world. Still, it was quite fragile and would shatter as soon as the two of them exert too much force. However, that would be impossible for normal people.
"Are you really sure?", Prometheia asked.
Ben nodded. He wanted to learn how to use at least miniscule amount of magic to protect Franky and Alpha in case they need that protection. He didn't want to be dependant on them to be saved. As such, he asked Prometheia for several pills containing light or dark magic. Since he's just a normal person, his reserves and his regeneration are rather low. Ben could just become a Dream Catcher like everyone else but he didn't want to grow stronger because of strength given to him. Unlocking that also poses higher risk of turning into a Demon and potentially being under the surveillance of other Zs.
"Ok… Close your eyes and relax."
Guiding him with her words, she watched him crush one pill of light magic. Contaminating his arm he could feel a strong throbbing sensation and lots of pain. It swelled and somewhat grew bigger but he had to use this as an oppurtunity.
"Think of the sensation in your arm. Control where that pain goes to by breathing in and out. You're the master of your body. Allow it to prosper and flourish."
Ben calmed down and regulated his breaths. Just like that, he could feel a lot more at peace. This wasn't his first attempt. A couple days after Franky had met The Collector, he decided to start his training with Prometheia. Though she was against him risking his own health and safety, she decided to help him.
The two of them gave each other the courage to step out of their comfort zones. He had known of King a week before Franky had engaged in battle with The Collector. Franky felt indebted to him and believed that it is only right to tell him these things. Prometheia was a lone Z chased by a few other Zs all trying to drag her into the domain of a Demon so that she can be killed. Deeming her existence a threat to their cause, a cause they knew nothing of, they relentlessly chased after her while also tearing apart the connection she has to the hivemind. Elena was the only Dream Catcher to try to protect her. Nearly two years have passed since then. Nearly two years of time were spent on Prometheia wasting her time in Elena's apartment not once trying to get stronger.
Ben wanted to remain ignorant of Demons by leaving it all to Franky and Alpha. He decided to pretend not knowing a thing and letting Franky do whatever he wanted. Prometheia decided that staying weak and wasting away is far better than growing stronger to protect her loved one by taking risks.
"Let yourself be guided by your thoughts… I believe you can do it this time!"
Prometheia's encouragement didn't help. It only drove him into despair as he himself struggled to use magic in any shape or form. The dark magic pills were still intact but started to react to these thoughts of self-doubt. However, he pushed through with the notion that he should be the one to protect Franky and not some other person he's never met before. Alpha and Franky should be under his protection. They shouldn't be the ones protecting him.
Envisioning a world of his own, his magic finally took shape. Dark magic, light magic, and spiritual power went haywire around him. Thinking of one magical tree, a white sapling grew out of his finger. It was small and weak.
"Woah!", he shouted in excitement. Prometheia tried to touch it but had to realize that it was just an illusion.
"Really? That's it?", Ben said after the illusion faded.
Prometheia however believed that this was a lot of progress. Three elements went into creating this thing. The only thing he would need to make this magical tree he was thinking of a reality was natural power. It was a huge success as Alpha merely blew up when he first used magic while Franky had stabbed himself in the eye by summoning his first sword.

His invincible soul now unchained, surprises await him as he begins his new jouney in an unknown land. I'm just writing this for fun, but i'll never drop it. This won't be something short, as I have the very long term in mind, but I'm a total noob to writing, so I most likely won't release chapters very often, at least until I really get the hang of it. But, the chapters will always be several thousand words long. At the minimum 2k, maximum like 6k... Pretty big variations, sorry. If you like it, great. If you don't, that's understandable. Regardless, if you have a read, I'd appreciate feedback for areas you think I should improve on, whether it's the use of some words or how I should write something or WHATEVER. I'm open to anything, good or bad, because with your help, it'll help make this story better. **DISCLAIMER** So you don't waste your time, I want to let you know what you're getting into, because I like knowing ahead of time before I read something. This might appear like a Xianxia novel, but it's not. It only starts that way. This is a western fantasy world and setting that many of you are familiar with. The beginning chapters might be a bit of an info dump. Some of it might seems superfluous, but a lot of information is relevant to the story. The first few chapters might also seem rushed, but I'll try to keep it exclusive to those. This is a cliche, OP MC story with the typical harem, but other than the quick start, everything else will be gradual. There will be romance, and probably many moments at that, but don't expect anything TOO detailed. If you want something really steamy, look elsewhere. References and throwbacks to stuff most likely. The setting won't be really dark or really light. Middleground, I guess. The MC is far from a young kid, but he won't totally reflect his age. I don't plan on discarding info, abilities or characters that you KNOW should come back and be around. I see it a lot and it sort of bugs me haha... but I could have oversights, I dunno. As I said, I'm a noob. That's it, really. If you're interested, welcome to my world!
