《Path of Salvation》Chapter 034: Two weeks II

Claw, the newfound organisation, the only organisation interested in helping Dream Catchers, already, despite the massive hatred it receives from the public, has grown significantly. Though most don't know it, they largely consist of Dream Catchers and a few civillians. You'd expect the state to investigate and do something that would damage them, but the only thing they can use is the media as Calamity and Festivia, the daughter of a politician, are a part of the organisation. Calamity was a great asset to the world itself as she's responsible for some of the greatest inventions. With her history going back as far as the invention of the wheel, she also serves as a biased historian that can tell people of all kinds of wonders. Festivia was the daughter of a politician and fond of kids so she couldn't bear watching so many of them suffer simply because they fight Demons and have the power to destroy cities.
"Why would you back something like that?", asked a reporter. Calamity also went by the name of Carmilla Gray the 5th so that she can appear within the public eye without facing issues. Though they knew it, they certainly were expecting her to be a Dream Catcher now that she's starting to back Claw.
"Think about the endless possibilities and how much we could change science. I always stick by this one thought: If you can observe it, you can interact with it. If you can interact with it, you can control it," she pompously announced to the media.
"Do you fear destroying the prestige of your predecessors?", asked a news reporter. All of the reporters here were waiting for her to say something that was out of line.
"Of course not. They too went through various risks while leading ACC (Anti-Calamity-Corp). As such, I should honor that spirit and gladly take the next step. The alternative is standing by and doing nothing as these monsters take apart our world. Obviously, none of us would want that, right? As such, ACC has to act and aid any organisation that is trying to handle this threat. Claw, while asking for the liberation of those like them, wants the death of those that cause trouble. Our goals align!" Somehow, she charmed everyone within this room. Ending the press conference right here, she walked out of the room as others stormed to the front trying to ask one more question.
She was massively respected by so many others in the world. Scientists, politicians, and ogligarchs loved her as did the common folk because she racked in massive amounts of money with every invention she put out there. The bracelets were her idea and soon she'd create entire vehicles meant for public transport that can scan without being assissted by human personel.
Festivia was different. Though her family disliked her, she still has the support of her father that just pays for anything she needs. The general populace loved her because of things she has done so far. Building orphanages and schools, funding public schools, building shelters for homeless women, and supporting children with disabilities, she's revered as “The Good Politician”. Never getting into any controversies, she somehow has yet to show anything that could paint her in a bad light.
Another member of Claw was Durandal, the 3rd-ranked Dream Catcher that grew interested in Franky. Her reasons for joining are yet unknown but hold some connection to Calamity. The only one she's interacted with is Festivia for she has to meet the rest of the members of Claw.
The last known member is Tarot, a renowned Dream Catcher who recently grew interested in the occult and promised to help Durandal achieve her goal as soon as possible. Still, they haven't met in person yet and as such look forward to meeting each other.

The rest of the ten most important members of Claw remain a mystery. Two are leading Claw and take responsibility for every wrongdoing they commit. These two still have to make their names known and are expected to be Dream Catchers themself.
Raven has been doing much better since his return. The other members are more likely to talk to him even if it's just small talk and most don't fear his presence any more. Turning over a new leaf, he intends to treat them the way they should have been treated even offering them to pay them even if they left the group. None have left for reasons yet unknown. Within these two weeks, especially him and Fox had grown closer. Raven never knew how mischievous Fox can be at times and has allowed him free reign to see what that new friend of his can get up to.
"We should totally go see a movie!", said Fox. Theo caught wind of their plans and ran up to them.
"A movie? What are those?", he asked as he barely interacted with normal people. He doesn't know people his age. He hasn't read fiction yet remains quite imaginative and is rather childish for a ten year old as he never had time to grow up like he should.
Raven thought about getting a TV as Theo deserves knowing more about the world. The books in the mansion mostly were mission reports. The rest of them were disaster reports meaning that he's never had the liberty of reading fiction. Postponing his plan to see the movies, Raven decides to go shopping. The four of them, Anatoly, Fox, Theo, and him, should buy themself casual wear considering how detached they were from reality. However, Theo noticed something odd.
"What's wrong, Theo?", asked Raven.
"It's a... Demon? I don't know what exactly it is but it's full of dark magic."
The four of them decided to investigate it together and get to that strange energy Theo felt.
The domain was a strange one. With a monochrome theme it seemed to mirror a perfect copy of their wooden mansion. Every room was empty and barren with no decorations. What stood out was everything around the mansion. Floating within a void, the mansion was connected to metallic spikes that connected to nowhere. With the four of them standing on the roof of the fake mansion, they discussed how they should proceed.
"Theo, would you mind cloning yourself and jumping down?", Raven asked. He knew Theo's cloning ability was already being strained but his eyes saw magic signatures meaning that his intel would be best when dealing with such a strange void.
Doing as told, Theo cloned himself once and started inspecting the mansion. For some reason, only the mansion and the spikes connected to it were visible to the human eye. Everything else was invisible. Revealing an intricate spike system that reached down to the depths of this world, his clone finally reached the edge of the void. The edge was made of glass he couldn't see through. Seeing only his reflection as he came closer, he finally impacted with the glass and shattered. With the clone gone, Theo remembered what he had witnessed down there.
"I think there is some glass down there that I just destroyed. I don't know where it leads to but we should be fine as long as we stay up here," he stated. The glass also started shattering. Causing a chain reaction the spikes connected to the foundation of this mansion started crumbling apart. The mansion itself started falling.

"Jump!", Raven said as the mansion collapsed. Spreading his wings he held onto Theo by grabbing him by the stomach. Out of a few feathers, he created ravens that hold onto Fox and Anatoly.
Fox strangled the ravens so that they would let go and let him fall as he spotted something interesting not far from the impact site of Theo's clone. There were holes leading to a blue sky. Prompting the others to follow after him, he grinned as he descended to the breaking glass. Slowly but surely the holes within the glass expanded. Fox was the first to fall through and disappear. The rest followed.
Beneath them was the ruined city of Munich. Though it was a replica of it, it was quite strange and surreal seeing where Elena had spent her time in. The further in you got into the city, the stranger it was. Space distorted and warped heavily not far from the center and the city center itself was a massive hole, a void, within the city that they'll likely fall through.
Flying ahead to catch Fox before he could be submerged in the void, Raven let go of Theo and flew at full speed. Grabbing onto his ankles while releasing several feathers to catch Ana and Theo, he started reprimanding Fox but stopped after realizing that he started sounding like his old self.
"Had I known that you were so reckless I would have taken a leash to keep you in check, geez!", said Raven.
"Come on... Falling was fun right. You never really free fall without worry do you?"
Ignoring that question of his he checked whether or not Ana and Theo were safe. Pretty much unscathed, Raven wondered whether or not he should do as Fox says. Simply diving in and doing whatever does sound like a bad idea but he wanted to do it.
"Ok then! Have it your way!", he yelled as he let himself fall and let the crows turn back into feathers. Theo and Ana screamed as they didn't know what lied within Munich's void. Fox was taken by surprise but smiled as they fell. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they fell through the void into the real world. It spat them back out into real Munich and catapulted them above Munich's veil.
Dawn House, Sylvia's orphanage, was taken its first steps in finding Sylvia. Knowing how to act in public without being suspicious, they contacted Daisy and met with her. Forseti, Bailey, Peter, Rita, and Ikari have arrived at Daisy's residence. The living room was sufficient for discussion and therefore quite cramped with the ten of them in there.
"As you all know, Sylvia has disappeared," Forseti said as loudly as possible trying to get his point across. "We have no idea where she might be and don't even know who might have taken her so we were trying to ask you since you knew where she might be."
Daisy sighed trying to tell them something of use. After thinking for a good minute, she claimed, "Visiting Elena should get you a lot further than visiting us. It's not that I don't want to help you. I just don't know enough about the guy who took her except that he's called The Collector."
"The Collector?", asked Bailey.
"If anyone knows what may have happened to her, it's him. But I advise that you don't look for him. He'd kill every single one of you. We don't even know whether or not Sylvia is alive."
Ikari tried to contain his anger and stepped out questioning why Sylvia doesn't get to live while Daisy does. Knowing that he's just trying to find someone he could blame, he decides to stay away from the rest until he's calmed down. Bailey followed right after him just in case something happens.
"Has anyone else met this guy?", asked Forseti as Peter and Rita silently stared at them trying to tell whether or not Daisy truly is telling the truth.
"The only I'm sure of having met that Demon was King. He's a rookie that has been a Dream Catcher for three months. He's under Elena's wing so maybe you can get to him by going directly to her residence. As for the others... Maybe Raven and Hellfire? I was out for half of the battle so asking them likely has a lot more merrit than asking me."
Peter and Rita were ready to depart but Forseti had just one last question. Documenting it all on a block of sticky notes, he asked, "He was a Demon? Are you sure?"
"He definitely was. There's no way he'd be anything else. I heard he even transformed into a proper Demon."
"That's all I need. Thank you. We're sorry for the intrusion!", Forseti said as he rushed outside. Nearly stumbling over his feet, he blushed as he left Daisy's residence.
Moving on to Elena's apartment, they tried to find Elena but to no avail. Someone else opened the door. It was Alpha.
"Uh... Hi?", said Alpha as he opened the door.
"We're looking for Elena! Does she live here?", yelled Forseti. Making himself loud and clear, he weirded Alpha out.
"She's away right now but I could relay whatever you want to tell her."
"We're looking for King. Please tell him to contact this number!" Forseti handed him a sticky note with a number leading to their burner phone on it. Franky heard his name being called and walked towards the commotion.
"I'm King," he said rather annoyed. "What do you want?"
Intimidated by King, he tried to keep his cool. Mustering up his courage, he yelled, "We heard that you had met The Collector and we wanted to ask you something about it!"
Alpha invited them in as only he and Franky are home right now. Elena still was in a coma and Emma had gone out chasing after a Demon with Prometheia. Loriel and Nyx were at Franky's house and crashed there for a week.
After making themself comfy within the extra seats Franky had bought for Elena expecting more guests to come from now on, Alpha pulled out the ice cream sandwiches.
"Aren't you eating too many of those. You'll go back to being fat," Franky remarked.
"What do you mean going ba-... I mean, you can have some too if you'd like to." Offering them ice cream sandwiches, all of them start consuming this sweet snack. Rather surprised as they're not used to eating such snacks, they relaxed a lot more.
"We've been asking around and heard that you met The Collector," said Forseti as he devoured another ice cream sandwich. "Do you know where he went or what he did to Sylvia?"
"Sylvia?", asked Franky.
"She was the one that raised us. So we need to find her!", yelled Forseti. His shift between loud and quiet was getting on Franky's nerves.
"I could look if I documented anything of note."
"You document things?! Since when?!", asked Alpha in a joking manner.
Ignoring that comment, he said, "I'm gonna look around, okay. I'll be right back."
Leaving to fetch something, he was rather suspicious as he never bothered to note anything down. Obviously, none of them knew. Transforming and jumping onto rooftops in broad daylight, he risked getting caught. However, right now it's risking to be caught by the public or risking to be caught by five people with magical capabilities likely far above him. Landing within an alley, he saw the crack in space plastered onto a wall. It was barely noticeable and therefore not an issue when it comes to discreetness.
Upon entering he landed right within the bowl. This time there were no traintracks. It was only The Collector lying within it like he was taking a relaxing nap. Trying to inspect him further, he stepped closer.
"I'm awake. Ask away."
"What happened to Sylvia?", he asked. Not expecting a proper answer, he believed that she may have been killed in battle after all.
"Why so anxious buddy? You know that I would uphold that promise of mine as you would yours."
Franky still was rather anxious and remained quiet.
"She's alive but I'm not allowed to tell you any more than that. That's all I have to say. Now shoo!"
Throwing him out of the domain, The Collector began his leisurely naptime. King took the bus to get back to Elena's apartment still rather anxious as that lie of his could potentially endanger him and his friends. It was a risk he was willing to take and if necessary, he'll just kill them before they can kill him.
Upon arrival, he was greeted by the five of them standing at the door and anxiously awaiting the news. His news weren't paticularly bad but not the best either.
"The issue with his spacial manipulation," he lied. "is the fact that it's hard to guess where one could end up. The Collector kidnapped Daisy and kept her alive. What exactly speaks against Sylvia being alive, hm?"
They cheered up a little.
"When I do find a lead, I'll contact you. That's the least that I can do after the effort you had gone throught to find us," he said. Franky doesn't expect any more leads to be found but will do his best to get answers out of The Collector.
They make their leave and leave their numbers on the table.
Meanwhile, Lamia was going through massive turmoil. A former Bavarian Council member, Aqua, has come to talk to her. Liam was staying at her house for now and she's been renting the same studio Harpocrates rented to get by and meet Dream Catchers. She recently bought a house with the savings she had made so far so that she can truly be discreet. Aqua was rather displeased by Lamia and ready to be brutally honest when it comes to what she thinks of her.
"So this is where you hold your meetings?", asked Aqua.
"Before I became a part of the Council I would meet Phantom within his domain. He had a nice meeting room and an entire battle arsenal I could take from. My domain is unfit for discussion so I'll have to deal with this for now," she said.
"Phantom... he really was something else when it came to planning and dealing with issues. Back when I was leading the Council, he'd always refuse whenever I gave him the chance to become the leader. Sylvia did too as I considered her a lot more trustworthy than Raven... Having you as a Council member... it certainly doesn't put my mind at ease."
"That's understandable. I'm sure it's been an inconvenience for you. You leave us and everything falls apart. But I promise, I'll make sure to restore it to its former glory." Lamia was nervous but kept her cool. The promise of restoration was just a means to get Aqua's recognition. Her true goal is to completely reform it and end the way it is handled by making it a lot more democratic.
"Spare me all that bullshit. I know that you're planning to demolish its foundations to start anew. You're probably just a power hungry Dream Catcher trying to make a buck, right?"
Lamia denied it all and was rather offended. "Leave!", she yelled at Aqua. "You may think I'm just power hungry but trying to make the Council more democratic isn't a bad thing! If it wasn't just people appointing their favorites as their next leaders, we wouldn't have these issues to begin with."
Aqua smiled. Never before has a successor talked back and spoken their mind. It was worth praising and showed a flaw and a virtue.
"It's a good thing that you can speek your mind. But be mindful of who you're talking to. Following orders is of utmost priority. Everything else comes after. I believe that you can restructure this Council and I expect you to do so before things could escalate further. That's all I wanted to say."
Aqua left. That was all she had to say. Lamia was happy as she wasn't expecting praise from a senior as harsh as she is.

Isekai'D Shoggoth
It begins as a usual isekai story. No, wait. It's worse. It's otome isekai. And I'm the villain.Of course, there must be some kind of cheat to make up for it. It's that kind of story. And my cheat is... being a shoggoth. Which apparently includes being a genius with setting up all sorts of production. Because "engineered to be universal labor" backstory for that race, I surmise.So... Screw it, full steam ahead. Let`s see what I can make out of this world and it's ikebana-based magic. 8 2754I Totally Don't Have Anger Problems!
Discontinued 7/11/2020 Sorry if anyone was hoping for more updates. It seems I'm losing interest in the character as time goes on - not sure if that's due to miscalculated character development direction or just a limited amount to express in the first place. If I do any writing projects in the future, I'll make sure the premise has a lot of room for long-term, interesting, development before posting anything. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback! I’m Talia Shimada, and my life just got a lot more complicated. One moment I was just doing some regular investigation of an interesting boy from my senior year in high school, and then suddenly, everything went wrong and I was stranded in another world in the middle of nowhere. It’s not my fault he left a clear line of sight to his house keys where they could be photographed and replicated on a 3D printer! Now I’m stuck in the middle of a giant forest with all these annoying creatures that keep attacking me until I SMASH THEM INTO PIECES AND STOMP ON THEIR REMAINS, surviving off of raw meat and, well, other kinds of raw meat. What, am I supposed to know which plants are edible in some far-away wilderness on another PLANET!? This is a planet right? It has to be! What did I do to deserve this? At least that class I got is useful. Now, when something doesn’t do what it’s supposed to, I can keep smashing it until it CAN’T BE A PROBLEM ANY MORE BECAUSE IT’S NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL! If anyone else tries to get in the way of my plans, I’ll just PICK UP THEIR PUNY BODIES AND THROW THEM ASIDE and watch them sail away, never to trouble me again, because I am DONE having people mess with my life and not being able to do anything about it! From now on, anyone who tries will get to briefly realize their error as I SMASH THEM INTO PASTE BECAUSE THEY PICKED A FIGHT WITH THE WRONG WOMAN! I totally don’t have anger problems! Updates Sundays and Wednesdays, occassionaly Fridays
