《Path of Salvation》Chapter 030: Showdown

Their battle was leading nowhere. Raven simply stalled for time as he awaited Dream Catcher's flooding in. Within that timeframe spent stalling, Daisy was taken while Sylvia went missing. Hyperion, Emma, and Marine dealt with the Demons, Ko and Hydra. Elena and Phantom still were within Munich fighting whatever was within it. As such, the only one left standing out of the Bavarian Council is its former leader. Raven still is awaiting more aid from Dream Catchers that could be within the area. His plan had come to fruition but he didn't know it yet.

"After this I can retire and blame this failure on Elena and the excessive amounts of dark magic within my body. The only thing I need to do is hit this guy with an effective round and declare this a victory."

However his schemes wouldn't go as planned. The Coordinator has grown tired of this waiting game and is planning to make his next effective move. It was quite simple and rather easy. Sucking in the dark magic within this domain would certainly alleviate the pain Raven was going through but also reveal his location. Still, The Coordinator pitied Raven as he could tell that his plan wasn't out of evil but out of hatred.

For the last time, to clear his conscience, Raven recalled everything bad he had experience in life.

"I hate it," he thought. "I hate all of them."

Convincing himself that he does not care about the well-being of those that would come into harm's way thanks to him. "The world is unjust so I should have the right to be unjust, too!"

He meditated to quell his anger and hatred.

"This world is incredibly cruel. You either take from others or lose whatever you have built up. It's neither fair... nor sensible. As such... I'll have to take what is rightfully mine."

Thinking back to how he even aquired the name of Raven, he believed this path to be the only way out of his misery. Branding himself with the name of the person that tried to take advantage of his innocence, he made sure to never forget the cruelties done onto him. No matter how cruel or hellish it may be to constantly be reminded of the last person he truly trusted, he moves on to keep the flames of hatred burning bright. Having grown cold, he's ready to massacre billions if it means his freedom. Though he does feel sorry for does he's gotten involved, it's nothing compared to the hatred and jealousy he carries.

Awaiting the moment that his opponent spots him, he readied his weapon of choice for this final battle. He then realized that Coordinator is trying to suck in all the dark magic to expose his location. The issue isn't being exposed. The issue lies in losing the dark magic that he had accumulated all these years. Should he wait? Should he attack? He didn't want another rather direct confrontation but also didn't want his plan to go under.

"I have to act now!", he thought as he fired his shot. The bullet filled with light magic failed to deliver a fatal blow as it was neutralized by dark magic. The only thing that remained was the rather weak bullet he could catch with his hands.

Taking flight, he sucked in even more dark magic. Raven reacted rather harshly by firing multiple shots but to no avail. As Coordinator got closer, all he could think about was his plan going up in flames. It pushed him towards his mental limit and filled him with rage.

What he originally believed to be the ability to guide Demons by giving them dark magic turns out to be the ability to distribute and collect dark magic. However, everyone must have a threshold to dark magic, right?

Dodging out of The Coordinator's flightpath, he readied his rifle to fire bullets of dark magic instead to overload his target. However, nothing fazed the thing he was fighting. Not reacting and simply absorbing while flying closer was all he did. As such, Raven opted for using a machine gun to distribute even more. Even that left The Coordinator unfazed and simply let the gap in power grow.

Coining the glorious victory of beating The Coordinator was Raven's plan. However, nothing worked. So he had to depend on the thing that brought out the worst in him. Calling it the “Calamity System”, he was about to make his trump card known. Though he feared losing control, he went ahead and used it anyway.

"Is he voluntarily turning himself into a Demon? But then he'd lose and have nothing to present for, right?", thought The Coordinator.

The dark magic within Raven violently exploded forcing itself out of his body. It then imprinted itself onto his skin.

"No... It's different. Something between turning into a Demon and being human?" Perplexed by Raven's transformation, he quietly observed the change Raven was going through.

His skin teared apart with dark magic leaking out. Oozing out as a black liquid, it climbed up his body and tore off his plague doctor mask. Replacing his mask with another made of dark magic, he seemed blind as it left no holes for his eyes. The liquid formed half a halo around his waist. On his back opened the gates of a birdcage out of which flew crows that would fly around him.

"I'm sick and tired of thinking. Just break it all," he said rather out of character.

Aware that his control isn't exactly 100%, he still went ahead and used something that may go out out of control. Just like that, they dragged him up into the air as he commanded a few of them to ferociously attack The Coordinator. However, they popped as soon as they came in contact with his target. Simply exploding into the dark liquid from before, they spread all over The Coordinator.

"Is that all? They're simply acidic and melt away at my skin. How could they-"

Raven screaming at the top of his longues made the liquid heat up and explode severely harming The Coordinator. As he lost control, his domain dissipated and left them flying over the ghosttown they fought in before. Raven simply took off to the skies and fled the scene in a primal stupor.

Though it took him a while, he finally was reaching the ends of the atmosphere. Attempting to make his way out in a drunken daze, something held onto him.

"Hey hey! What are you doing?", said Hellfire surprisingly cheerful. Despite his demeanor when talking to Elena, he's more like a ray of sunshine when talking to anyone else.

Raven looked at him and tried to figure out who he's talking to.

"Hm... Is that the new Calamity System people have been talking about? I don't have any light magic pills on me so I guess I'll just have to knock you out."

Hellfire, inviting both Raven and The Coordinator into his domain, flew straight down onto a barren world of massive golden crosses connected by black chains and ash. Upon slamming Raven into the ashy field they stood in, he knocked him out by giving him brain damage that would heal in a couple of minutes.

"So you're The Coordinator, huh?", Hellfire asked as he revealed himself. Though he was sixteen, he was incredibly buff for his age. Only wearing black cargo shorts with golden chains attached to them, he was walking out and about rather lacking when it comes to clothing.

"And you are?", The Coordinator wondered.

"Hellfire... Nice to meet you... I guess. If you come with me without causing trouble you likely could get off the hook. We just need you to stop leading Demons to wherever you want since it causes a massive influx in one region and a massive efflux in another."

"I'm sorry but I can't. If you could just-", The Coordinator said as he was struck by a speedy fist burying itself into his face. Hellfire has decided to act on that claim of his.

"Sorry won't cut it. We need you out of commission. You either learn how to stop attracting Demons or die. What will you choose?", Hellfire said with a smile. His overwhelming strength was one to be vary of. Ranking among the top when it comes to those capable of using magic, he's among the 0.1% when it comes to raw physical power. Though there still are hundreds above him, when it comes to raw power, he's among the top. He lacks in strategy but handles himself well enough to not get in trouble.

"I choose life... Since none of you are willing to hear me out, I'll just deal with you my way!" Now that The Coordinator is enraged enough and knows that no one will hear him out, he's willing to kill to defend himself.

As such, he draws his scythe once again giving him an advantage over the Hellfire, the type of guy that uses his fists. However, even he is capable of wielding weapons. Summoning a halberd, he readies himself for the incoming attack. Surprisingly, the scythe retracts its blade into the rod it was attached to and extends back out as soon as it is behind Hellfire. Pulling the scythe, The Coordinator expected Hellfire's head to come off clean. Strangely, it wouldn't budge as the infusion of spiritual power was blocking the attack.

Pulling back, The Coordinator jumped up into the air to reconsider his strategy. A sudden explosion would launch him back to the ground. Stemming from the cheek Hellfire had punched, he knew that he had been marked.

"So I guess I can't get close to him. It's a shame, but I guess I'll have to use the rest of the tools Ascendant has gifted me. What a shame." Though rather nonchalant, he still was slightly upset at not being able to use these again for a while. Perfectly covering himself in a dark shadowy cloak of dark magic, he could take more hits. He also had two halos around his wrists and another on the top of his head.

"Oh! I can do the same thing!", exclaimed Hellfire as he mimicked The Coordinator's transformation. Now that he's cloaked in fire, he gets on all fours. Like a dog, he speeds forward and strikes once again. With his claws he tears through that cloak but not through The Coordinator. As such, he opens his snout and fires a destructive beam of fire. Barely dodging it, The Coordinator watched as the beam melted through several crosses and caused a massive explosion with everything it came in contact with.

"I guess I overdid it a little, huh?", he said to himself.

The Coordinator was quite stunned but realized that something was off. He knew that there was something off about that cheerfulness of his. Trying to extract the dark magic within Hellfire, he sensed that there was a rather massive amount. Gathering it within Hellfire's torso, his target was cut in half.

The flames quickly grabbed his lower half and reattached it to his upper half.

"Such things don't faze me! You have to try harder than that!", he yelled as he ran closer. However, he hadn't realized that The Coordinator also introduced dark magic into his body. The amounts were so excessive that they were starting to corrupt him. Falling over, he wondered what had gotten into him.

"Your strength is formidable but your intelligence isn't. Had you used your brain at least once, you could have killed me long ago, right? You could have killed me before the battle even started."

Disappointed, he let Hellfire quietly suffer. Knowing that it won't kill him, he awaited the moment his opponent is knocked out. Even after that little outburst of anger, he still could contain it enough to not go overboard. However, Hellfire got back up showing no sign of injuries or distress.

"That one really took me by surprise. Your abilities are formidable but not strong enough! I, Hellfire, will vanquish you like your fellow Demons!"

As The Coordinator focused on Hellfire, Raven fired his shot blowing The Coordinator's arm off.

With Raven as backup and Hellfire as the one fighting, The Coordinator barely can keep up. Whenever he's about to use arm motions to cut Hellfire in half, Raven blows his arm off once more. Hellfire constantly punches The Coordinator and sets him ablaze or causes explosions point blank. However, that alone isn't enough to deal with him. He simply regenerates, retaliates with his scythe and resists.

"Blow his head off instead of just his arm!", Hellfire ordered.

"Don't tell me what to do!", Raven yelled as he kept firing at The Coordinator. All efforts seemed rather futile. Hellfire would eventually run out of energy. The Coordinator then could focus on Raven and syphon out his dark magic. By the end of it all, both would end up dead or too exhausted to fight. As such, both have to work together a lot better.

"Hey, boss!", Hellfire said. "Do you have any of those explosive knives."

"I do but I'd come into harms way!"

"It's either that or death, boss!", Hellfire said. He knew that calling Raven boss would make his partner more likely to comply. Raven closed in and signed that Hellfire set his cleavers on fire. Doing as told, Hellfire, with an uppercut, sends The Coordinator flying into the air. Raven jumped after The Coordinator and throws one of the cleavers as he is out of range. A cleaver straight to the heart incapacitated their target. The flames within incinerated whatever was left within that chest of his. Right after, an explosion sends The Coordinator flying back down.

"Only 2 more," he thought as he regenerated everything he had lost. The cloak came off and turned into a cape. Though they don't see it yet, thanks to the flames covering their sight, he's figured out a way to temporarily take out Raven. The cape chased after Raven and grabbed him by the neck. Taking Hellfire and him by surprise, it sucked out the dark magic within Raven. The markings all over his body are starting to come off.

Raven fired at the cloak but instead was slammed into a cross. Before he could be knocked out, he released crows and let them be set on fire by Hellfire. Swarming around The Coordinator all of them blew up making him lose control of the cloak within that mess of explosions. Raven shoved the cloak into his mouth to recover dark magic while Hellfire is starting to struggle with the massive amounts of dark magic in him. Reaching his limit, he screamed out of pain while releasing a massive fireball.

"Do something, Raven!"

Raven created a massive crow that submerged itself within the fireball as Hellfire collapsed. Turning into a crow as big as a bus set ablaze and ready to blow, Raven steared it towards The Coordinator. Swallowing him and taking off, it exploded within these ashy skies.

A gunshot to the chest takes out Raven. He falls over in pain and agony as The Coordinator descends with The Collector. Raven decided to use the Calamity System once again while Hellfire is trying to get back up. This time, even more monstrous than before, Raven utilizes the Calamity System. His hands turned into canes and the birdcage opened up once again. His face grew a beak and had pockets of dark puss all over his face. His lower back grew wings and took off.

"Oh? That guy was talking about something like the Calamity System?", thought Collector. "I guess that's why he grew interested within my collection ability."

The Collector threw a page at Raven and sucked him into his book. Now that everyone is taken care of, he only needs to uphold his promise with King. With the four french Dream Catchers on their trail, The Coordinator intends to flee while The Collector keeps them occupied.

"You can take care of the rest, right?", asked The Coordinator.

The Collector nodded as the domain dissipated.

The four Dream Catchers, Lily, Twinkle, Blue Lotus, and Passion were closing in on where Raven, Daisy, and Sylvia started this collection of battles. On their way they aided Dream Catchers fighting Demons. Sadly, some of them couldn't receive the aid they needed in time. Some were torn to shreds and passed in battle. The four prodigies respectfully brought attention to those that have passed and intend to clean up and bury the leftovers as soon as all this is over.

Spotting a rift in space they hold off on advancing any further.

"Passion. Flare."

Firing a dark red fireball into the sky, it made for a massive loud flare that would guide others to their location.

"Lock this rift up, Lotus."

Blue Lotus creates an ice dome around the rift. All of them dive into the rift in hopes of getting back the people that were kidnapped. Though they did not know whether or not Raven, Hellfire, Daisy, or Sylvia were alive in there, they were willing to take risks in hopes of bringing back the veterans with the loss of rookies killed by Demons.

"Welcome, oh extravagant guests! Enjoy your stay within the domain of collections!"
