《Path of Salvation》Chapter 020: Victims of salvation

Millenia ago, he visited a barren planet devastated by the sudden fusion of two of his comrades. Now he rests on top of Celestia, the once war-torn planet with several sentient and dominating species turned into a utopia where no one has to work, worry about infighting or war, or a lack of resources thanks to the presence of two messengers and one goddess that oversees them. The Transient Empyrea... she was once known as Phantom and had gone by many other alibis. As an independent bringer of salvation she, with the help of the "goddess", the Lightning Empress, that rules over this planet, brought them the life they deserve under the condition that they pray once every full moon at the Celestial Descend. This night is the night of the monthly descent.
Empyrea, within her white long-sleeved dress and her translucent frills, stared out of a window admiring the full moon. Surrounded by a forest with a massive and magical lake within the center, Empyrea was sitting on a stone dipping her feet into the crystalline water. Incredibly proud and happy that she had brought so much happiness to a planet in just 2190 years, something that's rather rare especially with the wide variety of sentient and intelligent species.
"I hope I can return soon. It's quite boring without Gion," she mumbled to herself as someone approached him.
"Hey!", he yelled. "What do you think you're doing lazying around here when you're supposed to "descend" so soon?!" Looking around she spotted a young man with an odd choice of style. His half-samurai-half-casual attire doesn't mix well. With his unsheathed katana and his slightly smaller wakizashi, he's the only inhabitant of Celestia with a weapon. His hakama, skirt-like pants, and his plain gray shirt are unlike the other things people wear on this planet. As the second messenger who is working under the Lightning Empress, he calls himself Lucian.
"We still have two hours left. So why not use it to the fullest?", she asked but saw the disgruntled look that came with her answer. Unsatisfied, he unsheathed one of his blades just by a fraction of their length as a threat.
"You're no fun. That's why I prefer Verne over you..."
Verne, a young woman within rather extravagant victorian wear, a long skirt that is awfully pink, a white top with puffy sleeves, and a red 3-story-hat with an orange rose flower crown mounted onto the hat was rather extraordinary. Loving exploration and seeking out the unknown despite dressing like a well-off woman, she somehow found out Empyrea's true objective. With a sketchbook and a little pouch where several pens are kept in, she cheerfully approaches the two.
"How's it going? I overheard your conversation about your great day! Or is something wrong?" Despite being just like any other human, weak and easy to break, and with no special ability that would aid her in confrontations, she talked as if she could subdue both. With the immunity to all laws granted by the Empyrea, Lucian couldn't let her disappear or kill her.

"Wanna visit my domain once again?", Empyrea asked knowing very well that Verne would love to explore her domain.
"Of course!" This answer was enough to snap them into an endless world all in white. The center, where they had entered the domain, was enveloped by a massive spiral that led into the unknown. The grayish-blue spiral had pieces fragmented off that had vanished within the barrier. Within the spiral, neon green cubes were floating up into infinity but contained memories and gadgets.
"As always, it's such a fascinating sight! Maybe I could conjure something like that someday!", Verne stated.
"Maybe... with enough imagination and a fighting spirit, you could," Empyrea added.
"Who cares! We should leave and head for the ceremony!", a disgruntled Lucian shouted. With his complaints taking the fun out of everything, Empyrea snapped again to dispel the barrier.
"I guess not being able to erect a barrier makes you jealous of my wonderful domain. FIne then. Let's leave."
With another spherical gadget and just one button, a portal opens into an office, the office Empyrea usually resides in. Hovering above the clouds, her spherical home looked down onto the people. Within the first layer are just four rooms, a kitchen, a room filled with hundreds of smartphone-sized screens mounted onto the walls or the ceiling, a bathroom with a large hot tub, a shower, and a toilet, and her final room, a living area with books and lots of art utensils. They were interconnected by two hallways forming a plus.
"Verne, you should use this gadget to teleport to your house. We can't have people know what you're doing within your time off," she said as she tossed over a gadget. With the push of a button, she vanished.
"Now, let's descend!", she yelled out in excitement as she walked onto a spherical metallic spot where the hallways intertwine. Standing on there, the platform descended down a five-meter-long tube that would lead them out to the city below them.
"It's as beautiful as always. Back then I never could have thought that this wartorn world would flourish into a world of absolute peace and beauty."
"You brought order into a world that should be within ruins and chaos! You will be the reason a couple more generations will suffer!", Lucian countered.
Ignoring his claims, she looks down at the city sectioned into five parts. The center was the first section and just a small spatial rift that would lead them into a lesser domain, a partial domain intertwined with reality that was downsized to a point that an entire landscape was located within. The second section is a massive forest that stretched across the land. The third sector contained a massive lake merfolk resided in. The fourth section was that of an advanced city. The last section was a ring that enveloped the other sections closing them off from the forest outside of their little bubble. There crystalized mountains and massive floating crystal structures with pristine water flowing down were located. Finally, they made it into the little bubble, the first section, and hovered down. With hundreds of thousands of platforms located below that are partially see-through and had a blue hue, people were anticipating the ceremony. Merfolk, beastmen, elves, fairies, spirits, demons, and humans all harmoniously gathered to commemorate the ceremony. At the center lied a platform with a ten-meter radius and a missing part of the platform where Lucian and Empyrea perfectly fit in. Greated by loud cheers and warm smiles, they raised their arms while smiling as well even though Lucian was in no mood to uphold his image. The moon shined onto them and illuminated the land. The grass beneath the platforms was green and healthy with flowers scattered out within.

"Rejoice! It's the 2197th birthday of our united world! 73 generations have come to an end since then and we're in the midst of the 78th! Thanks to the blessings of the Lightning Empress, we've come to great lengths and soon will venture out into space and explore the heavens, the domain that she had offered us!", Empyrea stated using a spiritual bond that let them connect and pray together.
"But first and foremost, let's pray to our great Empress!", Lucian added and moved people into placing their hands on their chest.
One outlier, a rebel that often stands out, a writer, and an artist, Verne, had her own complaints. Usually, the only ones that could hear them would be Lucian and Empyrea, but today, she was heard by everyone. Everyone heard Verne utter these words: "This is just a waste of time and people seriously believe that these two are divine. Lucian is an arrogant prick with no ambitions and a fake smile while Empyrea is mysterious and incredibly shady with her strange lake! They should just leave and show people how superficial this "unified world" is."
With shock and afraid of the people around her, she watched spirits starting to shift into humanoid creatures ready to tear her apart, beastmen growling, hissing, and barking, and the rest turning towards Verne. It was then that the cries of people were heard from a faraway platform. Someone had turned into a demon you'd see Alpha's home planet of people that had despaired and turned into monsters.
"Erect a barrier on the platforms and reassure that none are hurt, Luci-"
A loud band interrupted his orders allowing for even more chaos and confusion. Still having the gadget she had been given earlier, Verne fled the scene while more people turned into demons. With people turning into dark and humanoid figures with stretched limbs and far larger mouths and pores pouring out dark puss. Though incited by Lucian's ability, Empyrea used the chaos to achieve her true objective in coming to this planet and cultivating it. Knowing how his ability works, she directs the same intense and dark emotions at people within their vicinity. All of them turned into monsters as Empyrea summoned a gadget.
"Shit! We're cornered!", she falsely yelled out to him. "We have to take these down and find the root of this problem!", she added while she thought, "I can use the same tricks as you do! I'll get the Authority of Corruption even if it means sacrificing an entire planet's worth of people!"
"Did I lose control of my ability?! I never thought this could escalate as much as this did but at least now I can pin it on these two idiots and get them executed with reason!", he thought.
"Okay! Let's-"
A gunshot.
He was wounded by Empyrea, but it took him a few seconds to realize what happened. With this realization, the pain set in and he started holding the wound as he regenerated only to be shot again. Outsmarted at his own game, he stood no chance against Empyrea who's used to betraying people or being betrayed. Tearing his shirt apart as demons stepped closer, she locked onto the necklace he was wearing, a thread attached to a black box. Within was a dead finger with pink glowing veins. Leaving him to bleed out, she summoned a syringe and injected a golden fluid into him. Cruelly and without remorse, she closed the box and took it with her leaving him behind to rot. She threw the same syringes at the demons and had them chase after them. Using a gadget designed for the exact same reason as the one he had used to have Verne be teleported away, he teleported right to her.
"Hey," she said while Verne sat within a corner of an alley making herself small not noticing Empyrea at first.
Throwing an empty soda can in retaliation, she shouted, "What was that all about? Why did you turn these people into monsters?! And why did you allow me to be heard by everyone?!"
With Empyrea's dress soiled in a pink, fuzzy and carbonated drink, she lied through her teeth. "Lucian initiated it and wanted to get rid of the both of us!", she yelled faking her emotions.
"He did?", she asked like a confused toddler. Empyrea nodded in response and held out her hand reaching for Verne.
"The reason I'm here was to retrieve a weapon. I did love spending my time here, but I, to prevent such things from happening ever again, travel worlds helping intelligent species trying to retrieve these weapons and lock them away."
"Is that true?"
Another nod. Hearing something that put Empyrea within an idyllic light, a scentless drug that clouds her judgment, and a tragic event that not only reshaped her future but also didn't allow her to keep on living on her home planet, she followed Empyrea to wherever they would go. Everything started to blur into nothing while words started to become unintelligible and distant.
"You've done so much harm just to pursue false salvation and went from an honorable fighter to a pathetic vermin that could barely erect a barrier. How could you have fallen so low?"

Cosmic Bulldozing Team
"Welcome to the Cosmic Bulldozing Team! CBT for short... references to any other acronyms are purely coincidental." Breve has one exceptional gift: an inborn potential for Resurrection magic. The cost? Every other healing spell she casts is absolutely paltry in comparison to the rest of her race, making her family outcasts within her society. That potential alone, however, classes Breve as a Rank A Healer. By what metric? Well, by the crazy elf lady who’s about to destroy her planet. Wait, what? Here's the low-down: her planet has been targeted by the Cosmic Bulldozing Team, which, as their name suggests, operates in the apparently lucrative business of destroying planets. This comes with the unfortunate side-effect of also murdering everyone who lives there. And Breve would’ve been killed, too, if she hasn’t unintentionally passed their audition for a new healer. Unwillingly saved by the people who just annihilated everything Breve ever knew and loved, she’s dragged into a massive spaceship before, without a moment’s reprieve, being assigned missions to sally forth and commit the same atrocities on other planets. And with Breve's home lying in a pile of celestial bedrock, it seems that cooperating is the only option. And she will cooperate, or so help her, they'll send her back whence she came: into the void of space, where the smashed rubble of her planet now drifts along. "Buckle in, rookie: you've got some planetary destruction ahead of you." (Updates every 2 days.)
8 89Decimation Mortism
17 year old high school kid Barry Allen has a brain that can't shut up. One day his mundane life gets turned around when the world as we know it ends and a new era begins. But in a very cosmic 'merge' or 'die' way. Inter dimensional energies leak causing a rift from which monsters, humans, mutants and the like emerge. Will Barry and his friends adapt to the new meta 'fight tooth and nail to survive'? or Will they succumb to the endless mysteries of the universe? Who is this Trevor guy we keep hearing about? About the Novel Decimation - end of world Mortism - is a concept, where understanding of life is better after experiencing death Fitting title for my story i suppose. I like having quirky titles for my chapters. They may sometimes have spoilers and twists, beware. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About author: I am new to writing stuff in general. I will probably have lots of grammar mistakes since English is not my first language. I am writing as a hobby. I release atleast one chapter a week. I planned volume 1 to be about 60-70 pages in my google doc. Character inspiration from myself. I literally have a brain that does not shut up. I do enjoy a lot of novels here especially : savage divinity and paladian. The cover page is my own design. I am happy with it, but feel free to suggest/show something better. I will try to do an art of my characters, especially Trevor, so you guys can also see what I see. But that will take a while. In the meantime, keep reading!
8 80Celestial Spark
Mages traditionally make poor fodder, but with proper training and motivation, possess near limitless potential. For mage teams, the battle camps of the Upper Realms provide both, with missions ranging from orc hunts to political espionage. This tale follows one such team of four who strive to prove themselves in a world that would rather overlook them. Loyalty, honour, and devotion are contrasted by avarice, treachery, and apathy, though at times it can be difficult to separate vice from virtue. For though all people, whether they hail from the peripheries or the kingdom capital, are subjects whose fates are bound to the stars, their choices must be their own. Any comments or questions are welcomed.
8 67Game, Set, Match
You all know the story. The world changes, people get told by mysterious floating menus that earth is no longer the safe haven many first world countries assume it is. People gain magnificent powers. Mages are awesome. Humanity, Fuck Yeah, and all that. I've read the webnovels, seen the tropes. Nothing prepared me for reality. If this works as it should, then you'll be reading this sometime before everything changed. I hope this gives you a chance once it does. As someone on the other side of time, you cannot stop it, but you can fight it. If the world knows whats coming, and people indeed listen, this is game, set, and match.
8 184Monster and Cloud
This is a story of memories. From childhood to adolescence the story takes place in many intervals of Cloud’s life with his brother Monster who had always been by his side. Cloud who is human and Monster who is a mutant shared a unique relationship with one another that made many hate, fear, or love them depending on how they encountered them in their life.
