《Path of Salvation》Chapter 012: Warped reality

"What is going on around me? It's so quiet..." Complete silence. There was no light to use as a means to observe what is happening around him. No air could reach his ears or his lungs but that seemed to be no issue. He couldn't tell the difference between up and down as he had awoken completely disoriented. His senses were of no use as he could only wonder whether he was alive or dead. "I likely lost because of exhaustion. What a lame way to go." He attempted to turn his head to the right but it made no difference. With his hands, he tried to grasp something he could hold onto. The lack of feel indicates that there may be nothing to hold onto. "Maybe I'm not out yet and I'm just unable to use my body because of overexertion. A soul trapped within a useless body maybe?" The sound of something seemingly drizzling into a cup could be heard within the void. A sweet scent caught his attention as he felt his hands resting on his knees. He's regained feeling within his body and can feel his tongue constantly being engulfed in saliva as he started drooling. Slowly, he started to see bright and relaxing colors as he regained his sight. In front of him sat another female figure. Tall but also slim, she awaited his response as she poured him a cup of tea. "Oh? Have you awoken already?", she asked. Confused, he looked around in a daze to understand what may be going on. A large umbrella remained at the bottom shielding them from rain rising into the air as the sun quickly seemed to pass over them as if it is in a hurry. Handing him a cup of tea she introduced herself. "I'm Calamity. Don't be intimidated by my name. I just love the sound of it." Calamity had freakishly long, straight, and green hair that reached under her seat. Her green eyeshadow and the emerald necklace she wore caught his attention. Dressed in an emerald green wrap dress, she awaited his response but he seems to be stunned by the strange aura coming from her. It wasn't exactly an aura, but he couldn't figure her out. "What do you want?" The silence that enveloped them despite the rainfall felt eerie. "I've realized that you own something I really want. That Authority of yours has caught my interest and I want to know what it bears," she answered. He hadn't heard of Authorities ever before but it's worth keeping his calm and try to find out more. Maybe it will help him "protect" Alpha. "What are those?" With a sigh, she slowly descended to the table. Slowly sipping what is leftover of her tea, she remained silent and kept her eyes closed. "Let's start with a part of the foundation. This universe has lived far longer than any of the residents of this planet could expect, meaning that there was much more time for intelligent life to prosper and flourish. Under the veil, the false sky that deserted us, we're forced to remain uneducated and are limited by something as feeble as the speed of light. The important thing is... what lies behind it, but for now, we'll handle the topic of Ultimatum and their Authority." Franky couldn't make sense of any of the things she had been talking about. A false sky? Veils that limit us? Feeble speed of light? Ultimatum? Authority? How are these things connected? Forming a fist, her arm gave off a green glow. As she opened her hand, several green cubes emerged. The first enlargened and as it dropped off a tray shrunk until it ceased to exist. The rest enlarged as well and dropped off several biscuits on the tray just to vanish like the cube before them. Her ability to store anything she wishes to carry with her seems dangerous as there are no known limitations. "I only have enough time for Ultimatum and Authorities. So let's start with the former. Ultimatum, beings that transcended the laws existence has forced upon us, hold great power. Many brought death to all species and even were responsible for the extinction of some while many tried to salvage what their fellow Ultimatum had touched. However, very few brought good as most are born out of hate for a certain intelligent species. The first made sure that no species left the confines of their universe and sealed away knowledge in an attempt to eternally rule over them. The second immortalized the stars to uphold life for eternity while the third fought against the divine as he couldn't meet their conditions. The fourth, the meaning of perfection, tinkered with all life and toys with humanity to reclaim what she had lost. Many more exist and very few persisted and remain with their powers intact, but only two are plaguing this planet observing potential Ultimata to steer them towards the desired path. Envy, a bringer of war and death, slumbers within one human we couldn't locate yet but we could pinpoint the country her host slumbers in while The Ultimatum of Life is with us, Claw. To make it short and clear: Ultimata are beings that far out level any other being. Their will is unbreakable and their power is incomparable. Born through hate they could wipe out an entire universe. Born through love they'll constantly progress and may reach omnipotence. Having both you are blessed with the ability to carry multiple authorities while anyone with a strong enough will can possess one. Owning one authority means not being able to be affected by the authority of another. I for example own the Authority of Corruption. If I were to tell anyone else this Authority exists, they would turn into Demons that cannot die until the ones that know of the Authority are killed. If you hadn't had the Authority of Dreams, you would try to kill me and live on until I meet my demise. Your Authority of Lightning can snuff out energy like it never existed. Several times, unknowingly, you avoided death by stopping or at least weakening incoming attacks from Nero. With that authority, I could be invincible and it seems to be one of the few that can negate mine." She seems to be done with her lesson and summons a few more cubes that fill her cup with tea as she grabbed a biscuit with her nonoccupied hand. "I guess that makes sense? But you're surely telling me this out of your own kindness," Franky said in a sarcastic tone. "I just want a few things. I want you, a fellow Authority owner, to know what I know. Next up would be the Divine Keys. With every topic I inform you on, I'll demand payment from now on. Of course, I'll try to be reasonable." Unsure and weary of her offer, he thought about the deal. He suspects that the key Alpha owns is a Divine Key that holds great might. He nods nervously hoping more things he was previously unaware of may come up so that his ability to protect Alpha may reach a new peak. "Divine Keys were crafted by few exceptionally intelligent and/or strongwilled craftsmen. They classified them into three classes. Ultima Keys, the rarest there are as only three are in the possession of these keys. They are exceptionally strong and hold a part of Authorities the respectful Ultimata held. God Keys, the second class of Divine Keys are made out of self-proclaimed gods that hold genes within them that allow them to cease their aging. Owning one significantly increases your lifespan but comes with its very own abilities as well. The last class is the Flora Key. Unlike the other classes, it could be permanently destroyed. Instead of holding power, they hold knowledge. They're only usable once and need a lot of spiritual power to be unlocked. As soon as you have absorbed the knowledge contained within, you can store whatever you hold. It's how humanity discovered the existence of the Devine Keys, the vastness of space and the veil that limits their abilities." She took a sip of tea and was ready to ask for his first payment. "I want you to tell me if you know anyone with the power of pure light magic. I've sensed a lot of residual light magic on you." Hypnotized by her words, he was forced to answer her question. Telling him all she needs to know about Alpha, Calamity is satisfied with the answer presented. "What did you do?!", Franky shouted confused as to why he had told her everything he knew about Alpha. "I own one of the Ultima Keys on this planet. We're bound by a contract that-" "I don't care about the fucking contract! If you approach him, I'll kill you!" She was stunned by his threat but it left her smiling. Instead of acknowledging the threat, she continued talking. "The Demons you've met once were human. All of them succumbed to despair and turned into monsters looking for revenge or a way to turn back the clock." Her mischievous grin awaited his outrage as Franky attempted to grab her by the neck. Chains emerged from the chair and tied him to the chair allowing no further aggressions. "We're bound by a contract. As soon as I offer you information, you'll have to repay me for something I want. I cannot twist the power of this key meaning I'm not allowed to lie but also not obliged to answer any of your questions. I left out the fact that Ultima Keys themself can overwrite other Authorities even if you own one yourself. What a shame." Her calm collected behavior reassured him that he should have known this was a trap. While not caring about what exactly Demons are, he cared about Alpha's safety and worries about his demise by turning into a Demon. "One Demon attempted to sexually assault Alpha by removing his clothes and grabbing him by the crotch trying to slide their dirty fingers into him. That Demon once was a girl whose presence can be traced back to the times where women barely had a chance in getting educated. Her teachers praised her for her perfect attendance, her need to help others, her knowledge, and her diligence. Out of jealousy, several classmates called her a whore that sought out the attention of their teacher. To "prove their point" they took her innocence and broke her. Unbeknownst to them, she was a Dream Catcher and killed them a month after, after she had been shamed for her trauma and the pain she'll have to carry. Guilt-ridden and feeling worthless, she turned into a Demon constantly replication by controlling women, assaulting men, and using sexual intercourse to keep a part of her Devil Seed, her core, intact if she is defeated. Millions hold a core and you likely hold one too. If the Demon is killed and you happen to be the nearest person with a core, you'll slowly die to a fever and turn into a more grotesque or twisted version of her former self. Do you want to watch how she was defiled? I'll show you right away." Her goal isn't clear but Franky knows that he must leave before it is too late. As space is starting to distort into an old classroom, she started giggling. "Let's-" The barrier that contained them burst open and her expression of amusement turned into an expression of fear knowing who has disrupted her lesson. Turning into a cube herself she vanished as her barrier shattered into a million pieces. Elena herself had come to his rescue. Above the center of the city within the arena, they were plummeting to the main battle with the 3rd ranked and Leo far from each other. Elena, keeping both of them in the air, decided to watch how well Emilia would fare in battle. "Look. I expect you to become just as strong as her. Observe well and decide how you could improve to not be caught up within Vanitys and Calamitys plans."

Emilia, awaiting the arrival of another strong individual, cleared the area of all scrubs that cannot stand on their own. Throwing her lance once, her victims cracked like glass creating a brighter but also flimsier version of the magic Franky uses. Finally, the one she had been waiting for arrived. Darkness slowly infested the buildings around her as they corroded. Falling apart into gray dust, a man seeming as old as Franky, calling himself Ryuichi, made his entrance with a wide smile and the need to cut down Emilia. "It's been a while, Ryu." Somehow, both Elena and Franky could listen in on their conversation. "I told you to stop calling me Ryu! I'm several centuries older than you!" Easy to offend, he, within a blink of an eye, made his way to Emilia. Blocking his katana with her lance, Emilia grinned as their battle started. Franky couldn't keep up with them as both were far too quick for his eyes. "What?", he wondered as he found himself on a couch within Elena's apartment. In front of him were Alpha, Prometheia sitting on Alphas shoulder, and a girl he hadn't seen before. Behind him was Elena awaiting his reaction. All of them seemed surprised to just watch him pop into existence out of nowhere. Stepping between them she announced, "King and Sugar... You'll be working together for a while... At least while I'm gone." King couldn't grasp what was going on. One second he's with Calamity, the other he's watching Emilia, the next he's within her apartment and Elena is going to leave. "You must be confused... Well, since I am such a great Dream Catcher I am majorly involved in politics. Since bavarian Swabia is my domain, I'll have to make sure nothing happens within it. I hope you can take care of all the Demons while we, me and Hellfire are gone. There should be ten on average each week." Not really answering his questions, she lifts her hand. "See ya!" She vanished.
