《Nephilim: Beyond Good and Evil》Chapter 35: Resolution

Terios was engulfed by the massive explosion, his body surged with the intensive heat coming off from the combine energy of Raphael and Kazuki. It was as if he'd be blown apart from the concussive force. When it was over he descended onto the ground and landed roughly. His clothes were torn and tattered and his body ached everywhere.
I can't let this slow me down. I must help Kazuki deal with that bastard!
Kazuki was busy dealing with his own things as he went toe to toe with the Archangel responsible for his beloved mother's death. Raphael was stronger than Kazuki in everyway. Power, speed, wit, durability. It was impossible for the Nephilim to win against a creature who was there from the beginning of time.
Kazuki and Raphael floated close to one another high in the sky where no one could bother them and to show off Raphael had every Angel watch as they duked it out.
"She deserved her punishment. She was nothing but a whore who enjoyed the pleasures a Fallen Angel could give her."
"Watch your tongue!"
"You aren't in the position to be giving orders. I'm the one who killed her and I know what she would think of you if she saw this."
"I don't care."
"She'd see that her son has become the prime image of what a Nephilim is all about! You're nothing but trouble. Your kind breeds war and malice. Selfishness is all you spew. You're bringing the world into chaos faster than we anticipated."
"Enough."
"The truth hurts doesn't it?"
"Your version of the truth holds no power over me."
"Be ignorant all you want. All of this is nothing but a lesson."
"What lesson are you trying to teach?"
"Why forgiveness goes a long way."
"I'll forgive you when you're dead."
Kazuki held out his hand and pressed it along Raphael's chest. The Archangel showed no defense as the Nephilim started distorting the space around them, forming a black hole inside of him.
"You're serious about this."
The black hole focused on absorbing a specific target; Raphael. It was impossible to resist as it was at point blank range. Technically he was the black hole and soon his body began to be absorbed into itself until nothing else remained. Kazuki simply smiled as he was victorious.
"Now I no longer have to worry about this war. Azazel's plan will no longer work."
The Angels didn't move they remained still as a statue while their hands were intertwined against their lap. They stood with the most upright posture and didn't seem bothered by the death of their leader.
"Are you all that emotionless? You won't even shed a tear for your comrade?"
"…"
"You don't even want revenge against me? Is this what a perfect being looks like? No emotions, no feelings. Simply following orders without question or care. If you ask me you're nothing more than puppets."
"…"
"Mother.. It's over you can rest easy knowing that your murderer has been punished."

"Good Angels aren't punished." Raphael's voice was heard.
"What?"
The black hole reappeared and instead of absorbing began releasing the Archangel until his body returned. This came as a shock to Kazuki who used his ultimate skill to best him.
"Nice trick."
"Why didn't it work?"
"Something like that won't harm me. Was that your special? How anti climatic."
"…"
"You really thought you could ki-"
Right before he could finish Kazuki distorted the air to have the wind slice across his throat, although it healed before the cut could even appear not even a drop of blood was shown.
"Sneak attacks? How cheap."
Raphael thrusted his spear into Kazuki forcing it into his shoulder as his warm blood poured out. It also burned him due to the angelic nature of it. Kazuki winced in pain and was stunned and shocked.
Once the spear was extracted Raphael gripped Kazuki by the throat and raised him into the air. His holy eyes staring into the Nephilim. "My weapon is forged from Heaven itself also wielding the first light. It's strong enough to stop your regeneration."
Kazuki groaned in pain as he felt himself losing a lot of blood. His eyes struggled to stay open even his hatred for this being wasn't enough. He was starting to realize that he wasn't strong enough to beat Raphael and he was going to lose his life. He didn't want to leave his sister behind. She would be lost without him...
"I can't... die here..."
"Wrong again. You can most certainly die from blood loss. "
Kazuki closed his eyes and allowed a vivid image to flood his mind; the image of his mother holding onto him and refusing to let him go. An image of her body being impaled by a spear and tossed aside. The same image that haunted him for all of these years. Witnessing his mother's death before his very eyes.
This was the whole reason he was willing to follow Azazel's wish. So he could avenge his mother's death and he wouldn't be able to do that if he lost to him; lost to the man who took the person he loved deeply.
Kazuki's sclera started to turn black while his pupils shifted and stayed a light gray color while taking on the shape of a cross. Six white energy wings extended from his back and a white halo formed on the top of his head. His body was also shinning white.
Upon seeing this Raphael stared at Kazuki with an intrigued look. "So you really cared for her that much? You'd go this far and enter such a transformation?"
Kazuki's hand strangled Raphael's arm until he lost his grip on his throat. Looking on at the wound on his shoulder it appeared to slowly heal after all. Would the tides change now that he had unlocked this new form? Or would Raphael's might prove to be stronger than he expected?
"So you've entered the Angel Overdrive state. I never knew it was real until now."

Kazuki remained silent and simply forced him away by placing a palm against his chest. Raphael was sent back somewhat until he regained his balance and kept a tight grip on his spear while gazing down the Nephilim.
"What is Angel Overdrive?"
"Can't you feel it? All of the power at your fingertips? Essentially in this form it's easy for one to equal the full power of their angelic parent and maybe even then some."
"This power feels unbelievable. This is my mother's will and this is what'll defeat you, Raphael."
Kazuki moved his hand to grip onto the hilt of his blade. He slowly unsheated it and traveled over to Raph who was one step ahead of him. He moved his spear to the left to guard, but for some reason the blade sliced into him from the right.
"Hmm?"
His blood spilled out slowly before the wound healed. This was unusual for him to even lose a drip of blood but it appears that this form is able to actually hurt him. He'd have to be careful now.
Kazuki brought his blade up into the air and prepared to swing it down onto the Archangel who tried to guard against it, however he felt something cut into him from behind. More of his blood dripped out and this time it took longer than before to heal.
"What's going on?"
"You're senses are being distorted."
"Really now?"
"You won't be able to believe your eyes they lie on you."
Kazuki managed to impale Raph through the chest with the katana, causing the Archangel to chop a few times. Soon his hand moved to touch the tip of the blade to make sure that it was real.
"My eyes may lie on me, but I can feel your blade. You're distorting my eyesight? You're there, but you're really somewhere else aren't you?"
"You'll have to find out on your own." Kazuki said as he ripped the sword out which was covered in his blood.
"Then I won't use my eyes." Raph closed his eyes completely and refused to move.
That was fine with Kazuki who dashed forward at light speed and swung his blade fast enough that it showed afterimages. Although a clanging sound was heard as it clashed against the spear.
"As I expected. I do not need to rely on my eyes. All I need is my divine sense."
"…"
Kazuki kept his intense speed up, swinging his blade to the point that it showed afterimages. However, Raph guarded against every attack and every swing. Even as they got harder where mini shockwaves were released.
With the Angel Overdrive Kazuki's power should be doubled of what they once were, yet he wasn't able to land another mark on the Archangel.
"You're way in over your head. An Archangel is one of the hardest things to kill. Even with this degree of power. It's untrained and sloppy. You're using more energy than you have to and once your time runs out."
Raph caught the katana with his free hand before thrusting his spear into the gut of Kazuki who cringed in pain. To add insult to injury he shattered Kazuki's katana into pieces before he shook the Nephilim loose and watched as he fell below.
Kazuki stopped himself before he fell too far and slowly rose back to the top. His wound healed before any real damage could be done. His eyes glanced down at his broken sword that was now useless. Without having any use to him he dropped the hilt of the blade and held out his hand toward the Arcangel.
"So that's how it's going to be?"
Raph followed the motions of Kazuki and held out his own hand and began to generate his white light which would fire off a deadly beam. Firing off his own, Kazuki's yellow beam crashed into his enemy's.
The impact caused a bright light show along with multiple shockwaves. The amount of energy that was being used was intense and neither being was going to give up.
"…"
Kazuki was completely focused on the power struggle between them. He was releasing a fair amount of energy but compared to Raph he was outmatched and when he realized that he allowed his beam to lose.
This caused the white light to break through his yellow light and come for the Nephilim. The intensity of the beam might be too much for even him to handle and so he held out both of his hands. Distortion allowed him to twist the white light to avoid him and then shift it back toward the caster.
"I don't think so."
Raph moved his hand to swat his own beam of energy away before Kazuki appeared in front of him and latched tightly onto his waist. The strength of it caused the sound of grinding bones to echo throughout the area.
"What's your plan this time?"
"I'm taking you out one way or another even if it means that I have to sacrifice myself to do it."
"Are you really that desperate?"
Kazuki increased the strength of his grip and then started to release a large amount of divine energy. Raph could feel his body being distorted as blood started to run from his nose and mouth. Kazuki was willing to use his ability in the most extreme way in order to secure a win in this battle.
"You're crazy. You do know that this won't be a happy ending for you?"
"So be it. As long as you're dead."
The amount of energy started to expand and it completely engulfed the two. Raph's body started to crack from his forehead and released a few rays of light while he simply smiled. Soon the area was covered in a gigantic explosion which engulfed the other fleet of Angels who simply stood there. The wave caused the ground to break along with forming a large mushroom cloud.
Inside Kazuki had lost all of his clothes and was simply floating in what appeared to be a completely white background. Raph continued to show cracks of light but managed to swing his spear into the Nephilim's chest. That was all that could be viewed until a large flash of light blinded the area.
