《Enchanter》Chapter 10

[This was just in…]
It was by mere chance.
I looked above as I saw the scene.
District K.
“Nino… Nina…”
As I muttered those names, my phone buzzed uncontrollably.
[Your sisters have you…]
I blacked out.
“Nina, grab hold!”
“Y-yeah!!”
Before us a horde of monster appeared, the place we used as a training was actually hiding a newly formed dungeon, or so that’s what I surmised.
My brother filled me with useless knowledge about dungeons and awakened after all.
Anyway, monsters have begun pouring out of it as to occupy the surrounding areas keeping the dungeon itself safe.
“Nino! Watch ou---!!!!”
A large insect-like monster appeared and swatted us to the ground. I was able to somehow dodge however, my hold to Nina loosened.
“NINA!!!”
Hearing no response from Nina, I was perplexed, I immediately flew towards her and caught he just before she hit the ground.
“Nina!”
“…”
‘S-She’s out cold!?’ I thought, as I felt worry and relief at the same time.
The Insect-like creature followed after us as its wings buzzed in a loud manner, diving head first towards the ground, with just that it dug a crater enough to make a person wonder what that horn was made out of.
“We have to get out of here…”
I muttered, I didn’t have to but I at least wanted to let my voice out.
My body was shivering.
The monster as if nothing happened, simply stood up looking at us, the prey it had begun to hunt.
I forced my shaking knees and dragged Nina and I away, the monster, as if playing with us didn’t even move and simply watched.
“G-guh!”
Fear, Confusion and Anger, I wonder what of those feelings crept in my heart.
Before I knew it, I was already crying.

The hands dragging my unconscious sister have already clung to my sister’s body without realizing it.
“Spa…re us…”
I was able to somehow voice out my thoughts.
Safety.
For me and my sister, that was my top priority.
Even if I have to cling to the hope that a monster can understand words, I will.
But then… another shadow showed up.
He had a different appearance, a face I never saw before.
However, even then I felt a sense of familiarity.
It was a broad back yet it can’t be called reliable.
I never knew he could make such a face. A face filled with anger as if wrath itself has manifested within a person.
“Aah…”
In that unreliable and broad back, I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
“You… No, what is your name?”
“I am but a nameless person.”
“Fine, I’ll call you Obscure for now. Obscure, lend me your strength.”
“Hoh, what do you plan on doing? I thought you didn’t want to fight?”
“Will you lend me your strength or not?”
This kid…
“Fine. I’ll lend you my strength.”
“Thank you…”
He began to take something out of that small pouch that previously had the magic stones, in it revealed two bracelets.
“With a body like this, you won’t be able to move easily.”
As soon as he equipped both bracelets, his appearance and figure changed.
“Will this do?”
His physique changed to one that emphasized mobility and stamina.
A perfect body for me.
“I’ll leave the rest to you.”
With those words acting as permission, he released the sword hiding in its sheathe.
[A person has appeared in the scene, it seems to be an awakened who had killed several of the roaming monsters in the area.]
The camera focusing on the reporter changed its focus as an unknown figure appeared before the scene.
Broadcasted all over the world.
A seemingly normal day for those that watched and followed awakened beings all over the world.
However, for some they felt that it was more than that.
That at that moment, time begun to move.
The cogs of fate finally begun to turn.

Blightbane
Miscellaneous Notes: - I want to see about making a crude map of Shroud to help readers. - I also want to get back to writing Coalescence updates. Schedule Notes: - None for now, updates when I can. [ Thank you for your patience and support as I improve my writing and storytelling abilities. I'm also using this story to better develop lore that extends far beyond it. ] Thanks to another exceptionally talented artist, Hiroeth, Blightbane now has an official cover! Vera was alone again. “You’re completely unprepared. Never before has sending one of you off made me feel quite so guilty.” Whenever she found herself in doubt, she would weigh her actions against the guiding principles of the one whom she revered. “When you don’t know the rules of the game, start making them up. When you are constrained by unfavorable conditions, inject a little chaos.” It was the supplementary message that concerned Vera the most. It was difficult to follow because it was intentionally vague and mired in subjectivity. “How can I enjoy myself when you look so tormented? Are we in danger?” Vera fell silent. An experiment is taking place on a planetary scale. Across the surface of the planet, a phenomenon referred to as "Blight" is spreading. Festering regions defended by fierce creatures called “blightbeasts” taint the surface, warping the land and proliferating unceasingly. Among the sentient creatures of the planet, it is the Blightbane Guild’s responsibility to stem the tide. They endeavor to cleanse the land in a struggle of attrition, but they are losing ground. A young man named Caim has been uprooted from his former life and transported to The Shrouded Theocracy, an isolationist nation with fanatical policies. He must struggle to survive with only an unfamiliar strain of magic to aid him. There is a secret to this magic. One he knows very little about. He intends to explore just what makes this magic special. On the far border of the theocracy, a mage scientist named Inis discovers a revolutionary new way to infuse strength from defeated blightbeasts. Using herself as a test subject, this process allows her to grasp magical concepts previously thought beyond her reach. Though she tries to document any side effects that arise, something escapes her awareness. She is playing with a dangerous force that will claim her most treasured asset if she isn't careful. Everyone and everything on the planet is a part of the experiment. The experiment is a lie.
