《Dream World Online》Chapter 6 - Nightmare

After I logged out from Dream World Online, i checked the forum again. I could see the view of new post, people who had already logged in sharing their picture and experience from the game.
“damn you people, you get to enjoy your time as newbie in peaceful village and hunting zone. As for me there’s a fucking giant dragon at my starting point”
I was cursing my own damn luck, as I’m scrolling the screen down. It was then when I saw the deserted chat room I joined last time. How could I know? Well the title of that chat room was easy to remember “asdfghjkl;’” it as if the person who created that chat room just dragged his finger when he made it. Only two people online, I think that grandfather person only there to find a guardian for his granddaughter before. So he won’t be there this time. I decided to joined that chat room again.

“Yo Arlon, have you tried to logging in?” Ruka was the first to greet me.
“Well, I tried to log in but I died right after that. What about you?”
“No :’(, Iris was preventing me from logging in to DWO until 12:00 AM, she had just left. Does something happen there?”
That related to development person?
“Yeah, I don’t really know what’s happening. But there is a monster running havoc in the village”
“what a wonderful bad luck you have there” Rei joined our conversation
“IKR. How was your starting point Rei, Any luck there?” I tried to ask him
“Mine was pretty normal, the newbie was hunting rabbit and dog everywhere. Some was walking around the village and taking quest, talking to NPC, looking around and all” how nice to picked a peaceful starting point. “But then the device was being turned off by my cousin, asking me to run an errand” must be a pretty annoying cousin you have there. “ So what monster did kill you?”

“A giant-sized black dragon, the system say that it was a boss-type monster. Any information about it?”
“Nope, but usually a dragon was a high-leveled monster and--- ops! I have to go now, good luck with your dragon-hunter village” he just add the hunter with dragon, but somehow it sounded fitting.

“You guys are ignoring me” Ruka come out of nowhere.
“Sorry, so what do Iris say other than that?”
“She say to search for a cave later, if we can meet some soldier around the village we could ask them to take us there”
That Iris person seem to know a lot about what happening there. Is she really just a person who related to the game development? If she was, aren’t it will be bad for her to giving us these information?
“How could you trust her? Do you guys know each other?” my doubt was getting bigger and bigger
“No, we only know each other online. She seem to be a nice person and she explained a few thing about the game to us”
Such a strange reason she had there.
“well I still had my death penalty, I’ll logging in again around that time” there’s only the two us remaining I don’t think that I’ll get any information from Ruka. “I had thing that I must do too now, see you in the game later” I send my goodbye word to the chat room.

“Twenty-three minute remaining until my death penalty ended, I wonder what must I do” I decide to just lie down on my bed. I could still remember the feeling when my body was crunched by that black dragon, it was horrible. But remembering that won’t do any good. As time passed by, I could hear the tick-tock sound from the clock.

“Where am i?”
It was night. I could see a village being destroyed by a monster. The house and building was getting burned, people causing ruckus trying to escape from there. Even though the sun had already gone, the monster’s blazing fire made it as bright as day. When I tried to focus my view on that monster, I could see a black giant creature. Wait, it was the very same monster that killed me back then. The Black Dragon!
“oh shit! He saw me”
I tried running away from that monster, but it was too late. A giant shadow had already covering the area around me before I know it. I could hear the dragon roaring right above me,
“it bad, go away from me!” I was very terrified, the creature has pitch black scale covering it body, it claw length almost reached four meter, Even it height a almost fucking reached twenty-two meters. It’s has a pair of shining black eyes on its face. And the most terrifying thing was the fact that his mouth was as big as an airplane. What’s more His mouth was coming toward me.
“No!!”

You have been killed by a boss-type monster
I opened my eyes, my body was sweating. I could feel my clothes are drenched with sweat. I decide to take another bath. “It was a dream” I muttered to myself, to think that monster will chasing me into my dream. After finished bathing I checked the clock, “around one minute before my death penalty ended, I should enter the device now”

Everyone is a Superhero! Apart from me
Welcome to Loktharma, where everybody is a superhero from birth. That makes Eugene De Lavet the most special of them all. At eighteen years old, he still has no clue what his superpower is. Loktharma has never been a fair world. There are Worldbreakers who were born to brandish the power of the universe, warp time-space, destroy lands and continents. There are Craftmasters who control the elements and terrorize countries with their might and wits. There are Commoners who are only gifted with power for the finer arts, architecture, military arts, or small-scale elemental manipulation. Even in an unjust world like Loktharma, there is always one constant: everyone is assigned a Flair since birth; the power to do something extraordinary. And then there's Eugene. He's been running around in a secluded forest since birth, training and sparring his ass off. While he can wield a blade better than most at his age, he certainly can't throw a giant boulder using the power of his mind, or turn his skin into diamonds. He has no Flair, no purpose for leveling up his stats, and no idea why General Rizeni Baggardo keeps him confined inside a forest for eighteen years. At least until Lord Pyro—the Craftmaster of Tailiah—unleashes his fury on the forest, searching for a treasure Eugene doesn't even know exists. On a frantic escape for his life, Eugene starts to realize he was a part of something he's been completely oblivious to until now. Along with his companions, Melodi and Azra, he travels the land and unveils the secrets of the world. [The story will be told primarily through the lenses of three main characters, with occasional side character POV chapters. It also draws inspiration from Japanese shounen. So only proceed if you're cool with these aspects.]

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
