《sHe: THE RISE OF THE NEW BREED (BOOK 1)》Chapter 10

THE HUGE CRUCIFIX was above the altar's wall in the St, Mary's Cathedral. Doran was kneeling on the pew in prayers and staring at it with incoherent thoughts of the death of Christ — which was now affecting his devotional prayers.

He used to fear to look at the bloodied Christ statue on the wooden cross when he first came to the Catholic orphanage — but he was taught by the nuns that the Lord Savior had suffered and died for the sins of all men, women — and the Intersexuals alike.

A provoking voice of a woman started to laugh then — it was the same annoying voice that was laughing earlier at the Convent yard. It now echoed in the empty Cathedral, where he was alone, in that wee hour after midnight.

His mother was here somewhere — where was she?

He had questions for her...

"Why? Why her? This is not fair!" The vexed monk-boy hollered back in wrath.

"Come out, and show yourself to me, Mother — tell me, why this had happened to Sister Lisa Marie?"

"Why should it not happen, you abomination!!?"

Doran turned to the direction of the voice — he looked at the statue of the Madonna with her child. The countenance of the Madonna had turned to his mother's face — the glazed ceramic face cursed him further...

"You are eternal damnation from hell — and unto hell shall you be cursed, to lead those whom you love into its fires!"

"No, that is not true, Mother!" he declaimed...

"You killed me and my family — you ugly she-demon of Lucifer — now, you are paying for it!"

"I did not kill anyone!"

Doran stood up objecting to the voice, stepping away backwards from the statue that further accursed him. But he did once cursed his mother — before he saw her tragically turned into a ball of flame and was burnt to her death — those were heartbreakingly memories of what happened when he was a child prisoner, in the basement dungeon, not very long ago.

"You and your kind will burn for eternity! That nun-bitch will burn in hell too — for her love to an unholy beast like you!"

Doran noticed the ceramic faced baby statue in her arms, was snickering evil back at him.

The distraught Doran stormed away in a hurry to the closed front door of the cathedral. He kicked it open, in the rage of betrayal of his faith. Outside the old building, the incapacitated Doran shut his eyes and placed both of his hands on his head. Squatting then on the ground in the darkness, his body reduced to trembles...

He was gazing at the stars of the nocturnal heavens outside. Doran started to sob bitterly for any hope from beyond...

"Please no God, please don't let Sister Lisa die!"
