After finally leaving mountain range, and all of it's excessively aggressive inhabitants, Jack the wyvern thought it was finally time for a long and boring flight, and he was mostly right, as far as flight went that is. However the night rest, as the wyvern was unable to fly for extensive periods of time, being up in the air for over twenty hours turned out to be a rather difficult to manage, his wing-arms were sore.
At the very least, he would no longer be attacked by murderous ponies, giant poultry, giant flying centipedes, griffins, or hyppogrifs. Mountain range was outright scary for any individual dumb or brave enough to traverse it. At least it provided him with some materials and corpses, though they weren't all that useful in terms of credits. The most he gained was from griffin and horny winged pony, both had value of about 3 points and 300 credits, but he only encountered three of them total, with one winged horny bastard becoming a pancake, and another one being reduced to a shriveled husk. He ought to make some pancakes later, with some grilled meat filling, now that he thought about it.
Griffin was heavily charred, as it broke Jack's arm-wing, forcing him to release all his stored fire magic on the perpetrator, reducing the mighty half eagle hybrid to charred carcass, with little feathers or hide remaining. But it's magic core was still intact, and Jack really wondered if it could be used to make himself a pet. The greatest humiliation would be stealing it's egg and raise it to become his mount, but at the same time, he would very much prefer making an omelet from it, rather than wasting time and resources on something that might not see any use.
As to the other news Jack had, they were rather nice overall. The moment clock passed 27 hour mark, Jack had gained a single point in life affinity, bringing it to 16. If he had known he could acquire pills from the shop for half the price of belly-mouth's corpse, he would already finished be on his way to gaining next death related spell, though, unfortunately, tier 3 affinity pills would cost him 750 credits, and each next tier would cost five times as much as the previous one, which would quickly turn into hundreds of thousands and even millions. At least he gained one free spell every twenty affinity levels. Or points, he didn't know what was the correct name for the affinity values.
He could purchase spells from the shop however, but at the moment, it would prove to be rather ineffective. The [Combustion] spell he had was just a quick burst of flame mana at a target position, which he could easily replicate. It wouldn't be as fast as the [Combustion] spell, but at the same time, he didn't think that System approved spells were worth it at the moment. For example, the [Tendril] group spells all cost five thousand credits, and each was slightly different than the other. Or [Destroy Water], the water spell that evaporated water, or turned conjured water into water mana, which Jack decided to get when his water affinity got to 40. Though if he were honest, he doubted that he would use more than a handful of spells in each affinity, even if he were to use each affinity in the first place.
Still, being versatile paid off more often than not, even if he didn't think he would use air or light spells, and considering the progress he made in increasing his more 'unique' affinities, Jack doubted that he would use void affinity, even if he really wanted to get time and space affinities leveled to at least 20, as he might get a few nifty tricks with time manipulation, most likely the most common and sometimes overlooked [Haste] spell, while space would most likely give him access to short range teleportation, or [Blink] spell. Even then, his current priority was improving his summoning affinity with points, and all of the primary affinities with pills, at least until level 40, then he would see if there was any merit in improving them further via pills.

Though there was also an issue with the language barrier, which he would have to mitigate somehow. The people, most likely cultists of some sort, have been speaking in language he never heard before, and as he previously thought on the topic, getting , an extension to his barely useful would cost him dearly, but an option to 'snack' on people's minds was nothing to sneeze at. And the potential capability of surface thought reading intrigued him as well. Though he doubted it would work like that. But even if it did, he still had to use 300'000 credits to acquire it, and he only had 330'000 credits in total. It would set him back on acquiring affinities for quite a while, but at the same time... it might be worth investing at the moment, he wasn't sure he could acquire that amount of credits on a short notice.
Beholder Eyes
300'000 SC
Improves on the capabilities of Evil Eyes, adding mind reading, charm and mind puppet abilities. Requires direct eye contact with the target, it's brain or mana core. Doesn't work on constructs or undead creatures.
Caution should be advised, as the prolonged exposure to Beholder Eyes may cause side effects to the target or the user, ranging from minor discomfort to death.
Extension of Evil Eyes.
Requirements:
Evil Eyes
Jack nodded, as he purchased it and checked his status. He had already distributed the points gained from conversion of the dungeon core, but he was still hesitant on using tokens for now, even if he could, probably, purchase some translation ability with the token.

Having looked over his character sheet, Jack decided to first level up the life and light affinities to 20 points each, before trying out to increase darkness affinity to 40. It would only cost him 600 and 750 credits to level up the life and light affinities to 20 respectfully, and 18'750 to level up the darkness to 40, totaling 20'100 credits, which would leave him with 11'025 credits for the foreseeable future. Deciding on it, Jack purchased the pills immediately, before dropping the life affinity pill into his mouth.
Remembering the time, which was 27:44:43, he started moving further north, in hopes of finding more opponents to fight. Jack didn't fly this time, however, instead intending to travel through the snowy area, which was rather odd as he looked through, considering that the temperature wasn't that low, just negative three celcius. Though it was night, and temperature during the day should be slightly higher than that, but with the still green trees, that looked a lot like oak, made the snow look somewhat out of place, in his opinion.
Jack was cut out of his musings, as he heard branches breaking further down the path he took, with a massive white and black bear showing up, sniffing the air as it looked lazily over Jack.
“A... panda?” Jack asked as the massive, well over five meter tall 'panda' bear roared, standing on it's hind legs. “They went extinct, but for fuck's sake, they weren't that big you assholes.” Jack said as he produced revolver from his inventory, and quickly shot the big burly bear in the head, twice, but missed the eyes, instead the bullets entered hit it's skull. “You've gotta be shitting me.” Jack said as the bear didn't drop dead from the two bullets. “This thing is brainless.” The bear emitted a roar as it felt being assaulted by a puny creature with a boomstick. “Fuck.” Jack quickly shot the bear in the torso, aiming for where he thought lungs or heart might be, and stashed the revolver away, as he took out the RX knife, switching it to a human sized two handed sword. “Come at me-” Jack said as the bear rushed him, and Jack felt like it was better not to meet the oversized panda head on.

Jumping as far to the right as was humanely possible, or inhumanely, Jack saw the bear rolling by the place he was standing not a second ago, with a neat snow road in the wake of bear's charge. Jack felt that the situation was a bit too unrealistic. No way a bear would roll like an armadillo at him, but here he was, looking at the bear, who knocked away a few trees in it's wake, and sitting cutely as his charge ended, emitting a roar of annoyance.
Seeing an opening as the bear was careless, Jack lunged at the bear with his two handed sword, and let it sink inside it's flesh. With all of the sword gone inside, he heard the bestial roar of rage coming from the bear as it rolled on it's back, trying to get his attacked splattered underneath it's weight. Only the said attacker was already out of it's range, but in his retreat, the sword was left stuck inside the bear, who only embedded it further in it's own flesh, sinking it further down, and potentially damaging it's internal organs.
“Fuck.” Jack only could say that as he saw the bear rolling at an incredible speed at him. “Bastard, give me back my knife!” Jack shouted at the rolling bear, who seemed to be escaping the mercenary. “You piece of shit!” shouting once again, he rushed after the escaping bear, who wasn't even bleeding with the sword embedding into it's fur up to the handle.
There were some splashes of blood here and there however, but nothing major. This meant Jack would have to track the bear for qutie a while, before one of them got exhausted from all the running. Unfortunately, this also meant that wyvern form was out of the question, as he wasn't keen on losing the tracks left behind by a bear.
“Stupid animal! Why are you running?!” Jack shouted as he continued following the bear tracks, as the red dot on his map vanished. Fortunately, the bear didn't seem to have much maneuverability considering it left a more or less straight trail behind itself, but it was surprisingly fast for it's size, making it one hell of an exercise for Jack, who never even liked jogging in the first place, much less full fledged run. He would have loved to catch up to the bear using a bike, but it wasn't feasible in this particular situation, nor did Jack want to spend any credits on a bike, especially on the earlier models, which ran on fossil fuels.
While Jack was tracking down the bear, he had time to think about the situation. He was never popular with animals, most of them avoided him like a plague, and sometimes even lashed out at him, regardless of his intentions, though most of the time these intentions weren't kind. The bear seemed to be acting in self defense, now that he remembered the pose of said bear. Not that it mattered, bear meat was actually quite nice, if properly prepared, and Jack never cooked bear meat before, and meat in beer was not the same.
After about ten minutes of running through the forest, Jack noticed that the snow trench ended, and the bear seemed to have moved on his legs from then on, and, judging from the increased amount of blood on the snow, the bear managed to somehow twist the blade inside itself, but Jack wasn't proficient tracker, instead he often relied on the information provided by Central or some other Beholder assigned to him, which now seemed rather funny, since he recently acquired an ability with 'Beholder' in it.
Quickly stopping his musings, Jack started moving through the snow, following the trail of blood left by an unlucky bear. He wasn't going to let it get away under any circumstances, the creature still had his knife. If the knife wasn't in the bear, but instead was lost somewhere along the travel path, Jack wouldn't be as hell bent on pursuing the bear, rivalloy items weren't cheap by any standards, even if he could buy dozens of them on a whim, if not hundreds. There were perks to being rich.
“Stupid fucking bear. I swear, if you don't keel over when I get to you, I will sap all of your life away.” Jack mumbled as he tracked the blood left on the snow. “I would've choke you on your own dong, but I bet you do that while rolling away.”
After approximately ten minutes of walking, Jack cursed, as the snow started to fall down, not in large amounts, but after an hour it would become problematic to track the bear, not to mention the need of a shelter in case the snowfall intensified during the chase. He didn't like it one bit, which caused Jack to increase his pace.
Then, after about half an hour of more tracking, Jack finally picked up a red dot on his map, causing him to grin, taking out the RM-369 sniper rifle. If worst came to worst, he still had the HEDP and phosphorous grenades left in inventory. Though when he climbed the trees, Jack noticed that the red dot didn't belong to a bear, but to a deer. Deciding not to waste the opportunity, Jack took aim at the deer, and shot it in it's eye, causing the deer to trample over, bleeding in the snow.
“What the hell?” Jack looked somewhat amused and horrified at the result of his attack. The deer in question seemed to be snacking on a rather large creature, with a metal rod sticking out of it. “This deer ate my bear?! How?! Since when are deer carnivores? Wait, it's not a deer, but a moose? Why is it small though? You know what, nevermind. I don't care why, or how anything works. I just want my knife back. Though, I wouldn't say no to some extra loot.” Jack said as he stored the knife and rest of the bear inside his inventory, and came over the carnivore deer-moose hybrid. “You know, I haven't eaten venison in a while. And considering I am in a forest, with a really clean kill, I might as well get myself some fresh venison roasted over campfire.” Jack smiled as he stored the deer inside his inventory, along with his rifle. “Maybe I should make myself a shelter though. I don't like the direction weather is going.”

Dark Lands: The Exile and the Prince
A short time has passed since the siege on Ruined Home has been lifted and as the survivors of the battered encampment slowly begin to rebuild their new home, Aurelius has returned from a failed troll hunt. Yet despite the battered prince’s failures, he has set into motion a series of events that will forever change his life. Meanwhile, Iskra has found herself at the helm of a far more favorable position and begins to forge a path that will lead her towards the first steps of a long road of revenge. Author’s Note: This is the direct sequel to the first Dark Lands story and as time goes on I will update the synopsis to help bring further detail about the story. For now however, I hope you all enjoy what is about to be written. Eight Years Arc: Eight Years have passed since Aurelius and Iskra have first met one another, and a lot has changed since then. The vast majority of Aurelius’ family has been slaughtered by the hands of none other than his oldest brother, a man that the golden haired prince had spent the past several years to hunt down and kill all in the name of vengeance. Upon his return, the kin-slaying prince has found that some things have changed during his absence. Iskra, his first wife and love of his life, has proclaimed that she no longer cares about the events that have been unfolding in her former homeland for the last several years and states that she is solely focused on raising her children. Yet it is through learning that the High Elves have taken a keen interest in the once magically-absent lands of Ranislava that Aurelius decides that action must be taken and thus he journeys south to learn more about what his distant kin are up to in such a backwater region of the world. Who he will meet and what he will do will turn the tides of fate, but in whose favor is something that only the Gods will know. (The Eight Years arc is something that was designed to be written in a way where people don't have to feel the need to go back to the very beginning of the Dark Lands story in order to know what is going on or who the characters are.)
