Chapter 2: The bright green egg hatches.
Three months later passed quickly, Eagle was woken up by a sound. It came from no other place than his bright green egg which was under his pillow. He got up and took the egg from under his pillow and immediately ran down the stairs, rushed to the backyard, taking care not to drop it, and placing it on the ground gently ignoring all the other eagle riders who were looking on. The egg hatched and out came an eaglet with bright green down and a yellow beak. The bright green eaglet immediately ate up the shells before looking Eagle in the eyes clearly viewing him as its carer.
"Well done", Mads spoke up. "Let me show you where to place your eaglet". Taking Eagle by the right wrist, she drag him (just a minute after he picked up the his eaglet with his left hand and took him to a box which touching the back wall of the school. "Keep your eaglet here until it is ready to fly. Your eagle will be at your backing call after this and no matter how far it flies, all you need to do is call out to it and it will come to you".
"Thanks for your help". Eagle thanked Mads as he wrote his name on the bird box. He took a good look at it and it was ten times larger than most bird boxes he had seen including the one back at Jake's house when they both were in middle school. "What do I call my eaglet?"
"Any name you want. Just remember to name it before it can fly. Your eagle is female by the way". Mads chuckled.
"How did you know?"
"I have been an eagle rider longer than you, silly", Mads poked him in the chest before calling out to her eagle. "

Melocotones !" Almost immediately, a huge bright pink eagle arrived and Mads climb up on her back. "The Headmaster will give you your sword soon. I got to take a ride with Peaches . That is part of our training. See you later, Eagle".
"See you later, Mads", Eagle called out as the bright pink eagle took off with Mads on her back. "Wait what does Melocotones mean?"
" Melocotones means Peaches in spanish!" Mads shouted back before both her and the royal blue eagle disappeared into the sky.
"Your named will be called Birdy as you remind me of my daughter". Eagle turned to his bright green eaglet in the bird box.
"Ki-ki-ki-ki-ki-ki-ker", Birdie responded happily as if she had accepted that name.
Norman arrived shortly and handed everybody a box with raw meat. "Everyday that is what these of your with eaglets will receive. Remember to feed your eaglets twice a day. This will ensure that they grow quickly and do not be negligent as you have come this far. Many have given up and stop coming to the school after the first two months. Well done once again to these of you who endured".
"I need to look for work in the meantime, don't I?" Eagle asked.
"Yes you do and I have a place for you to work in. That is my former job in the warehouse close by. You will have to wake up early five days a week. Are you willing to do so?"
"I surely am", Eagle spoke confidently.
"Your sword should be inside your room by now and remember, it takes ten years to be able to become a full time eagle rider and a teacher. Mads and your daughter, Birdie already have five years ahead of you".
"Is my daughter an Eagle rider too?"

"No she is not but she will have the choice to decide when she is thirteen. Do not neglect her as you would not neglect your eaglet".
"Where is she now?"
"Mads usually leaves her with my two sons while she flies off with her eagle or is at work. I will take you to see her".
Norman took Eagle to the children's room which Mona was in charge off. It was painted white and was at least as big as his class.
Eagle saw about a hundred children from age three to twelve sitting side by side laughing as Mona was teaching them about eagle riders, she certainly knew how to bring things to life.
"Daddy!" Birdie called out as she saw Eagle who had followed Norman into the children's room.
"Hello Birdie", Eagle picked up his daughter who ran over to him before turning to Norman to ask. "Where are the teenagers?"
"The class is too big for me to handle alone. Therefore, my husband and I have decided to hand over the teenagers to Mads today". Mona answered.
"That is wow just wow. Does that mean she is a full time eagle rider now?"
"No not yet, Eagle but she has the privileged to train them in looking after their eagles after her work. They will come around later on". Norman spoke to Eagle while looking at Mona.
"We will switch between teenagers and children on alternate days", Mona turned to Eagle, "Therefore you do not need to worry about Mads as she is under my wing. I will be training her personally".
"It's not that, she is only my friend", Eagle blushed, embarrassed at himself for asking.
"I know, I know, you just care about her as a friend. Mads is not interest in marrying anyone at the moment either", Mona laughed.
Norman’s sons came up to Eagle and shook his hand. “Hi sir, my name is Nathan and this is my twin brother, Johnson”. The more outspoken of the two spoke.
“Please to meet you boys. Just call me Eagle. Your father has one happy family”.
"Do you want to get married someday, Eagle?" Norman asked.
"I don't deserve to marry anyone not after what I have done to Mads, Birdie, and other women in my life. I once acted like Connor from the Ghost of Girlfriends Past film two years after high school when I was nothing but a loser. You will only understand if you have seen that movie".
"Do you know what your issue is? You can't forgive yourself. As long as you don't forgive yourself no one will marry you", Norman spoke. "This might sound harsh but it is the truth that would set you free".
"You really need to forgive yourself", Mona interjected.
"They are right daddy", Birdie spoke up.
"Your daughter has hit the hammer on the nail", Norman and Mona spoke in unison.
Eagle deep down inside felt his feelings for Mads rekindle but in a different way.
"We will talk about it some other time", Eagle turned to Birdie and said, "Daddy will take you out for dinner later. See you later".
"Bye daddy", Birdie spoke as Eagle planted a kiss on his daughter's forehead and handed her back to Mona and walked out the class.

Unwitting Champion
"In stories this is always easy. There's magic and powers, and quick steps to claiming that power for one's self. This doesn't feel true for me. I'm supposed to be a Champion, whatever that means, and yet I don't feel important. I don't have all the bells and whistles, which honestly feels familiar even in a new world. But what was I expecting? I haven't had the worst life - there are people with worse problems than mine - I've known what it is to struggle, to be pulled down instead of being helped up.This is nothing new."When in great peril, the Kingdom of Althor has no choice but to send a call into the void, beseeching the Fates to bring them a man who would save them from the coming darkness. Unfortunately the path the Fates chart is often unknowable to men and the Champion who appears is not what the kingdom expected.Unwitting Champion is a story of a guy displaced, dealing first and foremost with trying to survive in a world where he is no longer a person but a tool, and - at least from the reaction of those around him - a shoddy one at that. His major goal is to survive long enough that either he can run or find a way home, because as exciting as the possibility of learning magic might be, he would rather have a boring life than a short life.

Unfortunately for Selva, everything in her life has to be an ordeal. Updates every weekday, but not on the weekend. In true NaNoWriMo fashion, I will not be using my typical editing process here, and will instead simply vomit words onto your screen as quickly as possible, trying valiantly to avoid asking myself "oh my god who CARES" because tangents are important to wordcount.
