《Kingdom of Earthos》Chapter 13: The brutal reality of rejection.

Eagle almost never went to a social gathering or party after that knowing that he will not be accepted there especially with the presence of Jake and his lackeys. However, he still made the best effort he could to train his animals as well as prepare for the ballroom dance knowing that this could be his last chance to impress Tomi.
Bob said, "Don't you get it, Tomi has never liked you and she never will".
These very words brought Eagle back to a period of time when Mads officially invited Eagle for her birthday party which was one month before his. Thinking this was a way to boost his popularity, he accepted not realising that Mads only motive was to fill up an empthy seat and everyone ignored him at the party. "What a way to threat you guest". Eagle couldn't help mumbling to himself.
"Show some respect, you are lucky to be even invited", Bart spoke up, slapping Eagle on the back. The rest of the night ended up with Eagle sitting alone.
"Things can always change. I am just an Eagle which has not learn to fly", Eagle spoke back to Bob.
"What confidence but if you really are an eagle, you are probably a late bloomer for one. Most eagles are capable of flying within 10 - 12 weeks. You are sixteen and still have not learned to fly".
Eagle ignored that comment as he considered it a Bob's comparison to be poor. While it is true his flatmate's got the obvious correct, he did not realise that he was refering to himself as the human eagle. Heading into his room and shutting the door behind him, he fell asleep. He will be turning sixteen in just a few days after the dance. Maybe just maybe if he could shine at the ballroom dance will he obtain enough popularity to organised a birthday party of the own.
One month ago, Mads invited him to her sixteen birthday party at a concert with some of the seniors which both her and Tomi did not turn up in much to his confusion. Once again, he felt isolated and was picked on by Jake and his lackeys. "How sad", Eagle thought as he attempted to perfect his dance.

The dance finally came and Eagle went spontaneously hoping to snag a lone girl to dance with. Failing to invite a dance partner the conventional way, it is time to be spontaneous. Besides, he knew he would not be the only one heading to the dance as a single. There are many like Bob and Ann who would not attend, however, there are plenty who would attend single handedly hoping to spontaneously find a dance partner which was at least what Eagle was thinking in that brain of his.
Dressed in his bright green formal outfit, Eagle headed to the school hall which has been turned into a ballroom. These were ball room lights in the ceiling which were shining with five colours (orange, yellow, green, cyan, violet). "Where are the red and purple lights?" Eagle wondered.
His train of thought was interrupted when Mads greeted him with a hug. She was wearing a pink dress above her kness which exposed her shoulders as well as glittering high heels. "Welcome, Eagle! You are the only one who is dress in a bright colour other than me. Never thought I would see you here. I will be the speaker for the night. Stay tunned". She ran back to Bart who was hanging around Jake and his lackey. Tomi was nowhere to be seen.
Eagle took an empthy seat among a group of students from the yellow class. He noticed that the only students from the Green Class present are Mads and himself apart from some of Jake's lackeys and some of the girls from Tomi's clique.
A lot of delicacies were served that very night which Eagle obviously enjoyed ignoring the others who were looking at him in a wierd way. Ten minutes, later, Mads went up the stage and called out Tomi who appeared out of nowhere on the stage. She was wearing a cyan and purple glittering dresss and she invited Jake to come up the stage to dance with her.
Other students began dancing along with the pairs. Bart came up and took Mads with him in his arms.

"Let's dance", Eagle stood up and held out his hand towards a girl with shoulder length red hair and green eyes who was sitting beside him.
"No way! Go @@@@@ yourself!"
"Whatever", Eagle sat back down coolly hoping while watching the dance. "This is my seat so I am going nowehere".
The dance when on and the students switched partners. Tomi with Bart and Mads with Jake.
"Perhaps, I can dance with Tomi after all", Eagle spoke to himself and he got up of his table and headed to where the students were dancing. He attempted to dance with Tomi just as she parted from Bart only to be rejected.
Jake tapped Eagle on the shoulder. "I thought I told you to leave Tomi alone".
"I don't see you stopping her from dancing with the others, you jealouse @@@@@".
"Yeah but she clearly does not want to dance with you and Mads has told you several times to stop being a SIMP".
"You do your own thing and I will do mind. Tonight is a dance party and not a time to fight". Just as Eagle was about to turn away, Jake who was holding a glass cup with wine poured his drink on Eagle's head. Angered by that act, he retaliated by giving his bully and former best friend and upper cut in his chin knocking him to the ground. "You can dish out but you can't take it can you?" Eagle smirked.
"Wrong move loser!" Jake got up slowly and took a tissue paper in his pocket wiping the blood off his mouth. "Now you are really going to get it this time".
Jake punched Eagle who was being held still against his will by Bart and Edward which caused him to vomit out all he has eaten that night.
"Do you have enough loser?" Jake asked Eagle who now had his hands on his stomach and was squarting down after the other two popular boys released him. Not getting a response, he walked up to the boy wearing bright green and asked him the same question but didn't see what was coming.
Eagle retaliated by punching Jake between the legs before stepping on his stomach. "Now I have had enough", Eagle turned to walk away. Mads look at Eagle wide eyed and impressed while Tomi helped Jake up asking, "Are you alright honey?"
"Seize him!" Jake called out as Bart and the popular boys caught hold of him.
"That is enough! Let him go. Jake don't forget you started it. You actually got what you deserved tonight!" Mads intervened trying to get Bart and the other boys to release Eagle but to no avail.
"Step aside!" Bart pushed Mads down. Jake moved slowly to Eagle who was unable to run away before ordering his friends to remove Eagle's bright green suit. He spitted on the suit before stepping on it and pouring wine and tomato source on it. He proceeded to rip Eagle's white formal shirt apart before pouring a glass of wine which was handed to him by the red haired girl who was sitting beside Eagle moments ago.
After incurring multiple punches from Jake in the stomach, chest, and face, Jake's lackeys released him. Eagle ran back into his room in tears leaving his bright green suit and thorn t shirt in the ballroom. Thankfully, Bob was still in his room and Ann had gone out probably with her boyfriend elsewhere which she does every weekend. "I won't be coming out tonight to play video games, I have found a new online friend and will be playing Starcraft the whole night", his slightly overweight flatmate called out from his room.
Eagle took a shower and changed back into his normal clothes before falling asleep in his room.

Blood Demon's Retirement
Civil War had raged on the Al-Shan Archipelago for the past four decades, only recently coming to an end with the enthronement of the new Emperor. This is not his story. The Blood Demon, renowned general of said civil war, was tired of all the fighting and politicking that had described the last four decades of her existence. All she really wanted to do now is to go out into the world and see the many lands from her father's stories. Thus she retired, and went and did exactly what she wanted. This is the story of what happens when you toss a (retired) war machine with somewhat lacking common sense into an unsuspecting world at peace. Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. First time posting a story on Royal Road here, hoping you folks will enjoy. Expect: -slow going slice of life with occassional faster paced action -world building -detailed anecdotes on the world, its races, the magic system, and whatnot every now and then Do not expect: -romance, other than maybe some passing mentions -politics, again, barring passing mentions Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. ---------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road and Scribblehub websites.
