“Remember, you are me. I’m you.”

He opened his eyes. Those words were something that he couldn’t forget for a long time. He didn't get the meaning who is ‘me’. He didn't get that meaning but he always thinking of it.

“Ah, aunt Katrina. Is Evan here?”

A cheerful and loud voice can be heard. His room made of thin wall, so he could have heard voice from the outside.

“He is inside the room. Come in.” his mother said.

Evan know who is going to come in. His childhood friend, Nimura. Evan stood from his bed and open the door. At the same time, Nimura is in front of the door and got shocked.

“You shocked me!” she said. “I was going to surprise you but it ends up a failure.” she sighed.

“How can you surprise me? You are too loud and so I'm noticed that you are here.” Evan said with a smile.

Nimura slightly blushed and then she grabbed Evan’s arm and pulls it. “Let’s go!” she said.

“To where?”

“Hunting fishes!” Nimura said happily. Evan didn’t object that, at least, he will get something to do.

“Where are you two- oh my...” Katrina put her hand to her mouth and looks surprised. She winked at Nimura few times.

Evan didn’t understand what those winks for. Katrina took two boiled potatoes and gave it to Evan and Nimura.

“Thank you, aunt!”

“Thanks, mom, we’ll be right back!”

They went outside and walks together with Nimura still clinging on Evan’s right arm. The villagers who passing by looking at them with giggle or curiosity. This is makes Evan felt embarrassed, he eat the potato while looking at the sky to reduce the embarassment.

“Say Nimura, hunting fish.... But we don't bring the tool.”

“Don’t worry about it. We will make one!” she tightened herself to Evan’s arm. He could feel something soft but it’s not yet developed. But making the tool to hunt the fish. Evan is not good with that; he might have injured himself in the process.

The place they are going is a river not far from the village and near the forest. When arrive, Nimura took a stick nearby and sharpening it. Luckily Nimura bringing a knife and make the process of making spear shorter.

“Done!” Nimura said while raising the spear and give to Evan.

“They never see you hunt the fish before, right? But you actually good at it.”

“Really?” Evan didn’t remember much. All he remembers, when he met animals, they are ran away and even fish dared to oppose the stream of water just to not get near Evan.

“Now go! Hunt many fishes!”

“Easier to be said than be done.” Evan sighed and folded his trouser and took off his shoes then stepping to the river.

“Hmm...” Evan observing the river and raise his spear. The river is clean, so fishes can be seen right away. But there is no fish nearby Evan.

‘I guess I have to throw it.’

The fishes which trying to run from Evan got pierced by the spear after he threw the spear.

“Amazing!” Nimura clapped.

“You’re good!”

“Ah, yeah...”

Evan didn’t feel any disturbance in his head when he threw the spear. It’s feels weird for him. He walks to the spear and took the fish. He keeps repeating throwing the spear to catch the fishes.

The fishes that have been caught are brought with a cloth that Nimura brought.

“fifteen fishes! Yup! You’re really good at it.” Nimura complimented him.

“Not that amazing, if the fishes just near me. It will be around twenty....” Evan scratched his head. Sadly, there isn’t any animal that would dare come to him.

“Now now, it’s earlier than expected. So, let’s go back to the village and have the fishes grilled.”

“Sounds good.”

They return when the sun is moved to the west and the sky is got bit darker. Evan looking at the sky and feels comfortable, he feels comfortable at something dark, especially when it’s night.

“Nimura!” arriving at the village, someone called her name. A man with huge body and three people following behind him came to them.

“Kalba?” Nimura tilted her head and furrowed. Evan know who is Kalba. His childhood friend but somehow he is hostile to Evan without stating any reason. He, Evan and Nimura were once always together but sadly they never became like that anymore.

“Why are you with Evan?” Kalba asked and glared at Evan.

“It’s not your business with who I'm going with.” she pouted and looks away from Kalba. Kalba become more displeased and his gazing falling to Nimura who holds Evan’s arm. He walks to them and suddenly pulls Nimura away from Evan.

“You shouldn’t go with him. He is good for nothing.”

“You don’t know anything about him, he isn’t good for nothing!” Nimura breaks free from Kalba’s hand and once she turns to Evan. Three people already surrounded Evan.

“Kalba! Stop it!”

“Beat him!” Kalba ordered.

The three-people chuckled while stepping closer towards Evan. He put down the fishes he brought to the ground and looking at the three people. The first one suddenly launch a punch from Evan’s right. Evan swayed his body away and grabbed his arm and pulled him then kick him away towards the second. The third charging but before he come closer to Evan, he got a fast punch on his face and immediately fall down. The first and the second slowly stood and attacking Evan at the same time.

Evan moved his feet to dodge and launch punches from below which is knocking down the two of them.

“Phew.....” Evan exhaled and then glaring at Kalba.

“I might be good for nothing but I'm good at fighting, oh, hunting fish too.” he said with a smile which makes Kalba more displeased and charging at him while raising his fist.

Evan ready to dodge and counter it but suddenly Kalba pushed him and locked him on the ground. He raised his fist towards Evan, yet, before he swings his fist. A punch landed on Kalba’s cheek.

“What the heck are you doing?!” an angry voice coming from a big man. He is Kalba’s father.

“Picking a fight, i didn’t teach you to become a brat! Come here! You too Evan!”

Evan obediently follows Kalba’s father who pulling Kalba by force. Two of them then forced going inside a hut. This hut is a small jail for someone who done bad things.

“Sorry Evan for my son’s trouble. I’ll call you father right away.” Kalba’s father said while looking apologetic. Yet, he looks angry to his son, he closes the hut’s door and locked it. Kalba’s father is a blacksmith here and also the one in charge of security.

“Sheesh.... What’s wrong with you Kalba?” Evan said while looking tired.

“What’s wrong with me? Nothing wrong! Just feels super jealous against someone who thicks as you!” Kalba shouted and then grumbled.

“Me? Thick? What do you mean?”

“Do I have to- argh! Listen, when we were kids, Nimura always likes you! And I likes- love Nimura! But she always with you and that makes me angry towards you!”

Evan became quiet after heard that. He is close to Nimura, be he never think of her like that. He thinks of her as a childhood friend and best friend. But now Kalba said it all.

“Kalba, aren’t you being childish?”

“Childish? Listen, because of love, even two countries went to war. Anyway, someone thick as you wouldn’t understand!”

“Wha- why are you calling me thick?! Why don’t you just confess to her?”

“You think that’s easy?! If it is, i would already confess to her!” Kalba felt helpless to Evan. He even wondering why he told all of it to Evan, he hostile to Evan just because love, it was childish but what can you expect when the girl you like is close to your friend.

“Alright, I'll help you to confess.”

“You- aghh, forget it! I’m going to confess by myself.” it would become bad if Evan help him. Nimura likes, no, maybe already love since long time ago. And the one she love is helping someone confess to her? What a joke.

“So, basically we are not a friend anymore because of that reason? Erasing that reason, we are friends, right?”

“Yeah....”

“Good!” Evan extending his hand to Kalba.

Kalba wondering why Evan can accept all of it right away. He even didn’t have grduge to Kalba. But Kalba himself want to end this hostility towards Evan, he wants to become friend once again. He grabbed Evan’s hand and both of them handshake each other.

Shortly after that, the door open and they allowed to go out. Kalba’s father apologize to Evan’s father. Oswald has bulky body and scars on his face. He shifted his gaze to Evan and smiled.

“Hm, you fought over a girl huh....” Oswald said on their way to go home. Evan tilted his head.

“Father, it’s not like you think though? Kalba loves Nimura but I'm not.”

Oswald blinked few times before sighing.

“You such a thick. Are you even interested towards her?”

“Why you called me thick too? Our relationships are a best friend only.”

Once again Oswald sighed. He hoped that his son would find a girl that will melt his thickness in the future.

“What are you praying for?”

“Nothing.”
