Somehow, the next day Kynos found himself back in the principle's office. There was a man with a sword as his waist sitting down across form her when he entered.
“Ah, Kynos, have you acclimatized to the school?” The principle, VoidSeer Charlotte asked.
“A..acclima...?” Sorry, are you used to the school yet?”
“Yes,” Kynos bowed his head, like he had seen Steve do before.
“Good, now for the bad news,” Charlotte continued, “we have no shadow magic instructors in this school except myself, but unfortunately, I'm too busy to teach as of late. We will have you attend only the fire magic class for now...”
Kynos nodded weakly. He liked that fire was powerful, but he felt much more comfortable with shadow magic. Besides, it was rare. Rare is stronger, right?
“However, since you are only at the beginning of training, I will have AquaSeer Roland here instruct you.”
'AquaSeer? There sure were a lot of seers around, maybe seers weren't strong?'
Mistaking the furrowed brows on the child's face as disappointment, Roland stood up grandly and made a sweeping bow.
“I, Roland, assure you that I will be more than capable of teaching you how to use shadow, for I am....”
“He can freeze things, and if he mixes enough impurities when he freezes pooling water, it looks like the beginning stages of shadow magic training. My own instructor was also an ice mage.”
Ah, Charlotte cut him off. Roland still had a hand sticking out to the right from his bow as sweat beaded on his forehead. Kynos had better save him a little.
“Mister Roland, I look forward to being strong.”
Well, that came out a bit weird, but Roland grasped at the chance.
“Of course young Kynos! I shall make you worthy of the title of Seer!”
So it was seer after all. Maybe it wasn't a big deal?
“Roland, must I kindly remind you that no child this young has managed that in the history of magecraft? Please cease making frivolous promises to my students.”
Roland almost collapsed at the end of his second bow. Charlotte was scary too, it must be where Mithandra got her personality.
