《Let's Form a Party to Kill God》Charlotte

Incanta had no walls, instead, there were floating ramparts segmented around the city. Kynos stared in wonder as Lucy stopped the wagon. They had traveled through the night to arrive by early morning, as Steve taught Kynos about his own abilities.
Steve stepped out and held up his hand to a nearby statue.
It was not a statue. The golem lit up, scanned the hand, and a rampart descended and split open, revealing a portal. Lucy stifled a yawn and waved goodbye as Steve guided Kynos into the portal.
They appeared inside a fairly large room, which had a single large desk with a lady behind it. She nodded towards the two.
"Welcome back WindSeer, it looks like you brought me another student?"
Steve bowed back stiffly. "Ah, yeah, I'd like this one to be enrolled on scholarship to the magic division."
The regal-looking lady stood up and disappeared. Kynos looked around, feeling a strange sense of apprehension.
"Oh? So the young man has talent. Did you check his mana capacity?" The lady said from behind the two.
Kynos abruptly swung his body around and took some distance to her, while Steve's hand found its way to his face.
"He uses the same type as you, VoidSeer, so if you could not give him strange habits, I'd really appreciate it. And yeah, I checked, or more like he forced me to check by trying to strangle me with my own shadow. I'd say he's highly talented in magic detection and manipulation, and his mana levels are around mine."
The lady nodded, satisfied. She turned to the boy. "And what are you called, young man?"
"Kynos." "Can you read and write?" "Yes." "How advanced is your math?" "Easy division." "Last question, how old are you?"

"I don't know."
"Well, that's new. WindSeer, do you know?" "No idea Charlotte." "Alright, you look around seven, so that puts you at the early stage of primary school. Your math is much better than most kids your age, but you seem to have only basic language skills. This is a good chance."
The lady, Charlotte, disappeared back to her desk and rang a bell. A bored looking young girl walked into the office and was immediate handed a small white slate and a stern look.
"Mithandra, you will show the boy around, as you'll be the to tutor him in vocabulary until he's caught up. Feel free to instruct him in other things too. His identity card will be produced soon, so take this for now and come back with him at the end of the day."
The girl who looked like she couldn't be bothered grabbed the boy's arm and left the room.
On his way out, Kynos heard the last bit of conversation between the two mages.
“So Charlotte, why don't you ever call me by my name?” “Because 'Steve' is a stupid name for someone with so much power.” “Look, I can't help it, someone else chose for me, unlike the boy that...”
Mithandra slowly dwindled her pace into a dead stop.
"Great, now I have to look after someone too? Genius is never appreciated in any world, it seems."
In actuality, Charlotte had found Mithandra's arrogance and coldness towards other unbecoming of their best non-magic student, and had forced the role on her in an attempt to teach her how to care for others. A non-noble orphan with no preconceptions that could protect himself would be the best choice. She'd have very mixed feelings about introducing the two to each other in her twilight years.
Mithandra turned around to get a good look at the boy.

It has been about one hundred and ninety-eight since the Centurians and humans accidentally connected their computer systems together. That same year Centurian virus took over almost all of humanity's computers. This was right about the time a huge solar flare knocked out all communication on Earth. Some time between then and now secrets were revealed, like secret societies, where the nukes were being hidden, and, most importantly, that there were Fae, magic beings, living among humanity all this time. The Proxima Centurians eventually came to the now weakened Earth to 'check on' humanity about fifty years ago. Some say they are here to colonize what's left of the city-states and raiders alike. But now we focus on a young man who has earned the ire of a Centurian colony and a powerful half-Fae named Jormungrand. This young man has chosen the name for himself as B. I am using this short story collection as a way to test the waters before I seriously consider publishing a novel. As English isn't my mother tongue, I would appreciate it if native speakers, anglicists or any other proficient users of the English language could kindly inform me about any mistakes in grammar or word choice so that I may correct it. The same applies to any sentence or paragraph that may sound unnatural in English.

The Sea Tower
Sea witches were monsters of legends, capable of routing armadas and wreaking havoc across entire realms by controlling the weather. The avarice of a mad king leads to the folly of a kingdom. Only a single turret survived the catastrophe, a single tower which protrudes outwardly from a boundless ocean, rumored to house the very creature which wreaked havoc and devastation. Sailors are warned to give the relic a wide berth, for few who have seen the tower ever return to speak the tale, and none who have approached it ever have. Do not approach the tower, they said…

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
