“Ms. Herb, your 6 o’clock?”
“Shoot, how’d she find me?”
“Mam, you do realize it is my job to know where you are. Also there is another guest outside.”
“You mean for the Bumbling- Butthead?”
“Yes, for your ex-husband”
My mother’s ‘caretaker/secretary’ Samantha Adams is currently attempting to drag my mother to her 6 o’clock appointment, most likely the doctor. Samantha is a calm woman, with drooping blue eyes and straight hair that reaches her shoulders. Samantha started working for my mom 5 years ago as an intern for her firm. My mother liked her so much she hired her before she left college. Though I think the real reason is because of two things. One, her nickname is Sam, like my dad’s, and two she is grooming Sam to be her successor.
“Hey Sammy. Thanks for taking care of my mom, sorry she’s such a bother.”
“It’s really no problem at all Sally, though I still wish you stayed working at the firm.”
“I don’t fit in there, but I’ll make a visit in the future. Maybe we could get coffee or something like lunch.”
“It’s a date then.”
“Wait I didn’t say…”
“Bye Sally, see you on the date.”
“Bye honey, make sure to tell me what’s in the package later.”
After promising a luncheon with a confirmed lesbian, a decision i think i will regret later, the two of them whisked out the door. One dragging the other away, the other waving goodbye.
“Now then, what’s in that package.”
“Um, excuse me, is this Samuel WIllus’ room?”
“Yes it is, I am his daughter, Sally Willus. May I ask who you are?”
“Oh, right. How rude of me. My name is Hannah. Hannah Evergreen.”

“Like the tree?”
“YES, EXACTLY. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT. GOD WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK I MADE EVERGREEN UP.”
Hannah had pink hair with twin pony tails, and an attitude of a spoiled princess who is worried about her knight. She was also carrying a Black Roast, with a slightly overdone bagel on the side, most likely for my dad.
“So how do you know my dad?”
“You mean the Lazybones? We work in the same office building, our offices are across the hall.”
“Wait my dad works in an office building?”
“Yea, he had the oldest door available be put in for his office door. I think he runs a private eye business, but I personally think he doesn’t do anything.”
“And what do you do for a living?”
“I create video games.”
“That’s it?”
“Well, I also do tutoring occasionally.”
“Sounds like fun.”
“oh , it is. Maybe you can…”
“No, sorry, already have one person asking me to lunch.”
“Then can I come along too, I have nothing important really to do.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Yay”
Hannah did a victory pose towards the hallway...I just had to invite her didn’t I.
“Why are you here?”
“Oh, I brought the Lazybones his regular, a Black Roast with a slightly overdone bagel on the side. I have to get back before the editor comes in, she’ll yell at me if I don’t have the work done… or do I yell at her? Anyway, great meeting ya, see ya at lunch.”
And with that said, Hannah zipped out of the hospital room, nearly colliding with the nurse outside.
“Watch where you are going please, and no running in the hospital.”
“Sorry.”
I grab the Black Roast and take a sip, who said a girl can’t have strong coffee?

“OH, I almost forgot the slip of paper!”
Taking the paper off of the table, I held it in my hands reading my dad’s handwriting once more.
Findings on the LOCK Corp case. What is contained inside is confidential and should be given to Joseph Lock as soon as possible.
“Ah, shoot, I should’ve given this to Sammy or mother. Ah well, no big deal for now.”
I take my dad’s stuff, which was still on the table, and put it back into his wallet in an organized fashion, excluding the paper of course.
“What is in this tiny slip of paper that could be so important?”
I unfold the paper to see the message, only to find binary code, as well as another message written on the bottom right of the sheet.
“I believe that the message contained within that note is for me, Ms. Willus”
A man stood in the doorway, with a exhausted and frustrated expression on his face. His hair looking like a rat’s nest, and his suit looking worn out.
“After all, it was addressed to me.”

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!

Thomas and his best friend Kevin were the top players of Holy Arc Online, one of the hardest MMORPGs in the world, and also one of the worst-rated MMOs of all time. They had both embraced the challenge it provided and had finally, after years of dedication, beat the final boss of the game. However, all wasn't as it seemed. Welcome to the game, Genesis. System Integration shall now begin. With the dawning of the apocalypse, so to comes the collapse of society. How will Thomas and his friends react to the world crashing around them? Will they be able to carve their own home in this new, and dangerous reality? And will Thomas be able to fulfill the obligations heaped upon him by the gods themselves? Author's Note: As of right now the release schedule for Exodus | Book 2 of the Rise of the Paragon Series will be released weekly on Mondays, and Thursdays at 3:00 pm EST. Writing Rise of the Paragon is a personal experiment of mine in writing a grand-scale novel within the LitRPG genre. I have written some fiction in the past, but none near as ambitious in the content as I eventually envision Rise of the Paragon will be. So! Join me on my journey, provide helpful criticism, edits, or whatever suits your mind! I appreciate any and all feedback!!!! We also have a Discord for anybody who wants to talk all things Rise of the Paragon!! Genesis Discord Also, consider joining my Patreon! Fair Warning: Blue Screens, and somewhat overpowered protagonists! The main character's point of view is described in first person. Every other character is in third person. That's just how I've chosen to present my writing style. REWRITE/REVISE is currently in progress. Any suggestions? Comment on their respective chapters!
