《Bloodline Awakening》Chapter 11 - Mind Alternation

We are now being taken to a “Hospital”, but I know where they are really taking us.
Except for Julia, everyone was here. Her sister picked her up an hour ago, right before we got on the bus.
Cassey took that time to thank Leah, but she kept dragging the conversation for so long that we knew that Leah was getting uncomfortable. Although she was smiling on the outside, her lips were twitching. And we had to pull her inside the bus.
“Don’t you think that she’s incredible?”(Cassey). She said with a pair of shining eyes.
“Not only kind but also strong. Not a lot of people can use the same Spells to dozens of people in a short amount of time! It must’ve taken her tremendous amount of mana.”(Cassey)
Sigh
You idolized someone as scary as her.
‘You are only like this because you don’t know her true nature. I may not know her true nature, but it is definitely evil how she talked with those mysterious people from earlier.’(Daniel). I thought to myself as I remembered that she was planning to do something on me. But I wonder what it is. I better watch out for her from now on.
I doubt she’ll give up even after they altered my memory. Well, I’ll pretend they did.
Still, I didn’t know that the so-called “Heroes” are actually this dark inside. Good guys on the outside, huh. Is this how they usually they do things?
This is concerning. I wondered how much dirt they are hiding inside.
Maybe I’m mistaken. I can’t judge them this quickly. The fact that we’re LP students probably played a significant part in their decision. However, they would rather take this route instead of a noble one proves that they are not that trustworthy.
Throughout the whole journey, Cassey kept talking about Leah. So I ignored her most of the time.
It was already 6 in the evening when they finished treating us all. At first, the others thought that they are finally getting home, but we were stopped.
We are told to sit and wait inside a long corridor. Many of us are stressed out and wore out, which caused many complaints and demands for an explanation. But there are also those with lifeless looks who are just lying against the white wall.
There was also one guy who kept banging his head on the wall behind him.
“We’ve been waiting for an eternity, when are they taking us home?”(Josh)
“Dude, it has only been like 4 minutes.”(Mark). He looked at the clock on the top of the door directed towards us.

“Ugh. I really want to take a shower.”(Cassey)
They’re beside me, talking to each other without care about our surroundings.
Well, it’s because they don’t know what’s about to happen to us. Hmmm. I pondered.
‘I didn’t think that they are actually this well off compared to others. I thought they would be crying too or, at the very least sad.’(Daniel)
“You three are surprisingly fine. Not crying or anything. Don’t you guys happen to have friends that got”(Daniel). I made a gesture of slicing my neck and made the sound of dying.
“Today?”(Daniel). I continued right after.
“Well, I thought it was unfortunate that I didn’t have a lot of friends since I spend most of my time in the faculty office or in the library.”(Cassey). Oh yeah, she did say that she’s always helping the teachers review and arrange the notes. And she helps keeps the library clean and quiet. Those are her job.
Since we earn so little compared to others, we had to take jobs between our classes.
I didn’t, though. I used my free classes and breaks in the training center or with Julia. Compared to them, I’m lazy.
“I see. How about the both of you?”(Daniel). I looked at Josh and Mark.
“I might be too noble and handsome. So I’m too intimidating.”(Josh). He said with a smile and put his hand under his chin.
“Nah, dude, it’s your personality. It sucks. I myself can’t believe we’re having a normal conversation right now.”(Mark). Mark dismissed him.
“But I guess for me, well. I have few friends too.”(Mark)
“You do? Then where are they? Are they also LP students or in the higher classes?”(Daniel)
“Well, dude, they are LP students. I didn’t see them on the bus, so they’re probably dead. Well, that or they’re one of the critically injured ones that were taken early.”(Mark)
What? Then why are you not visiting those who are here? I pondered.
“What a friend you are. So, where are they? Aren’t you gonna greet them? I’m sure there’s probably a guy or two in here that’s your friend.”(Daniel)
“We are friends, but I don’t think we like each other very much anymore. You see, there’s this girl I liked. I told them about her, but one of them dated her even after I told him I like her.”(Mark)
“And?”(Daniel)
“I got mad, of course. I told him that, C’mon, bro, why you gotta do me like this? I thought we were brothers. I punched him in the face in front of her. The others didn’t like what I did that much, though. So I fought them. Now, whenever we see each other, we scuffle but mostly bark.”(Mark)

“Ahahaha!, that’s so hilarious. To think that you got cucked.”(Josh). He was laughing his ass off that he tumbled on the floor but still continued laughing.
“That is a stupid reason for a dispute.”(Cassey). She breezes down on her nails as she looks at them.
“…”(Mark)
Mark was just sitting on his spot, not moving shortly after. He stopped talking to us or even respond when we ask him anything. We stopped trying, though, since he put out the biggest indignant face in the whole universe.
A couple of minutes later, we are all taken inside the rooms. The other students went to the other rooms, but Josh, Cassey, Mark, a couple of others, and I went inside the door beside our seats.
The room has six small size beds, 3 for each side. A woman is sitting behind her desk, looking at the monitor at the back of the room.
She told each of us to lay on a bed. Fortunately, there’s enough for all of us.
The others were weirded out, but they probably thought that they’re here to take a rest. But then the woman brought a syringe.
“What’s that, ma’am?”(Mark)
Finally, he’s talking again. Good thing he’ll forget about this whole thing.
“Just to help each of you sleep. It’ll remove your fatigue and other kinds of stuff.”
“Is the shot really necessary?”(Josh)
“Yes, this is for your health. It will aid your mind and body, and when you wake up tomorrow, you will feel better.” She said behind her mask.
She gave each of us a shot, and only a minute later, the others passed out, and a few people came inside the room.
‘System, I can’t feel my body anymore.’(Daniel). I panicked.
Although I can still feel my body, I can’t control them.
-Do not worry, host.-
‘Are you sure?’(Daniel)
-Yes. It isn’t harmful to your body.-
‘T-then, they’re about to read my memories. What do I do?’(Daniel)
-Nothing to worry about that too, even If they can see your memories, I will block the parts you do not want for them to see.-
I feel a bit of relief. I closed my eyes and pretended to have fallen asleep.
One of them came over to Cassey and put his hand on top of her forehead. Moments later and a bright green glow lights up his hands. He stood straight back up and nodded.
The others did the same, and when finally one of them managed to got to my spot, he put his hands on top of my head.
‘System!’(Daniel)
-Only mind alteration is being detected. There is no anomaly such as mind invasion. Although I don’t know how the spell work, I know that they cannot read the host’s mind.-
I still couldn’t help but get a little nervous, but I tried my best not to mess up with my breathing.
Sometime later, he lifted his hands and left the room. The others had already left a minute early. The nurse soon followed after.
‘Is that it?’(Daniel). I thought to myself.
I opened my eyes.
The others are still lying on their bed.
With this, they’ll forget what happened today?
I slowly got up and looked around the room.
It’s a good thing that the nurse is gone. I can finally take a breather.
I don’t see anything unusual inside the room, but the nurse may come inside at any moment.
I went to Cassey’s bed, which is beside mine. I checked her pulse and asked the system about her condition. But it seems nothing much happened to her except the mind alteration.
“So, the injection was only like a sleeping drug?”(Daniel). I muttered.
-Yes, and it is also packed with other enhancing drugs. But mostly are for regaining strength.-
“I see.”(Daniel)
I’m surprised that they actually cared about us. I thought it’s just a simple sleeping drug.
-Don’t be too relieve or think that they care about the students, host. It is most likely not to arouse suspicion.-
“Then, what should I do now?”(Daniel)
Since everything went smoothly, I don’t have to worry much anymore.
-Rest.-
“Rest? That’s it?”(Daniel)
-You have no reason to escape. They’re not planning any harm on any students. The host will only attract unwanted attention if you have tried to escape.-
I sat down on Cassey’s bed.
“But I’m not sleepy.”(Daniel). I told the system.
-I can use the drug that they had injected into the Host.-
“Didn’t you removed it already?”(Daniel)
-No, I only stored it.-
Hmm? Wait a minute… Isn’t this too powerful? Basically, no debuffs are effective on me.
-Negative, Host. I cannot remove debuffs caused by magic.-
“Huh? Dang, I thought I could take advantage of tha-“(Daniel)
Suddenly drowsiness fell on my body.
I collapsed on Cassey's bed. Without much resistance, I fell asleep.
