Tomorrow is the day which Vaan and Media promise to go and find the Hanest Flower, as for today Vaan still practicing his swordplay in the backyard. But this time, his father also there to watching Vaan during his training alone, but suddenly his father starts talking to him.

“Listen here, Vaan, how about the two of us going out to the city today. What do you think?”

“But dad, I got to practice today and tomorrow I will head to collect that flower you ask.”

“Well, that good Vaan, let us go now. Come on make a time for your old man here.”

Unable to reject his father, Vaan stops his practice and follow his father to go to the city. In the city, there are many people give greetings and respect toward Vaan’s father to them Vaan’s father look like a true hero in this city. Most of their time spent for walking, looking at the merchant selling their goods and item, there also a time when Vaan’s father meet his old friends and start talking but at the same time he introduces Vaan to his friends. To kind of things make Vaan feel embarrassing and try to hide his face but when he sees his face father and smile it let Vaan feel that he can do the same thing like his father, be respect by other people yet treat them like equal to us.

“Next, let go to my workplace, quickly or you will be left behind, my son.”

Vaan father currently works as the captain of the gatekeeper, only during the outbreak of war he needs to go and serve the king, but during the peaceful day, he will be the captain of a gatekeeper. From far, when the gatekeeper is noticed that Vaan father arises, all of them stand in line and pay him a respect. After being told to keep to the work, they return to their working post. During his work, Vaan can see that his father, a dedicated person, and a hardworking person, he even treats his underling to lunch when the time has come.

During a peaceful atmosphere, suddenly all the guard is alert by the sound people ask for help from outside the gate.

“Reporting to captain, few caravans has been under attack by the monster,” says gatekeeper 1.

“Calm down, please give me the details now.”

“Five monsters detect and there is now victims yet, your order sir.”

“Take all the people from the caravan hiding in the walls then create a wall to separate the monster from any injuries; I will handle those monsters myself.”

After Vaan’s father finish gives his orders to his men. Vaan’s father jumps out from window and land near the other guards. Giving the signal to his men to withdraw, he starts to dash forward and slash one of the monsters that look like a wolf but have 3 eyes on the face. Then he uses is lighting sword skill to slash the other 2 beasts near him, his movement is too fast to be followed by normal eyes. After the other monster sees it friends fall one after another, it decides to retreat to the forest, one of his guards try to attack using magic but Vaan’s father giving the order to stop.

Vaan is asking his father right after he returns to his room.

“Why you didn't kill those entire beasts when you had a chance just now?”

“Vaan, did you see any human die? Did you see that those monsters decided to retreat?”

“Yes, but why, that only beast, father.”

“Listen here to me, my child, it true that monster attack human as food and we kill them because of that, but it all part of nature in life. Some will die, and some will continue to live.”

“But that means you trying to say that human and those monsters are equal?”

“No my son, if that monster keeps attacking I will kill them indeed, but you need to learn when to kill and when is the time to keep your weapon in its place.”

“Let go home before your mom start nagging because we are late.”

Vaan keeps on silence and follows his father from behind, until reach home. After dinner, Vaan asks his mother about what his father told him before, that the time he realizes that as a human he needs to treat life with care. All the living has felt even monster itself, based on what he learned today Vaan has realized that his father really cares about the living being even it, not human and he needs to follow his father example.

“That why he asks me to go out with him today, thanks, father,” says Vaan with a smile on his face.

*The promised day*

Vaan is preparing his equipment early in the morning, then he goes have a breakfast with his parent. After say to them a goodbye, Vaan goes straight to the Media place to meet her. Seeing that Vaan is coming, Media waving her hand too great Vaan from her place. Vaan waits for Media to finish her preparation, during that time Vaan recheck his equipment and supporting item. Media open the door and says sorry for making Vaan wait so long for her to be ready, then the two of them walk together to the place of Hanest Flower is located.

Passing by the gatekeeper where his father works. Both of them take a path to the east where the flower locates near the lake, during the time walking together Vaan and Media share about their ability in order to come out with a plan if the battle is unavoidable. Around an hour of walking, Vaan and Media reach their destination, Vaan asks Media if she can spot where the item they need and Media say that that flower only 500 meters from them and there is no sight of Grey Boar anywhere near.

Vaan takes initiative to pick up and collect the flower, he tries to fill the bag that he is carrying and Media shout to him. Upon hearing the sound of Media voice, Vaan has been attacked from his left side by something big and fast. Looking at the attacker, Vaan notices that he has been attacked by the Grey Boar. Vaan draws out his sword and his battle stance, Media from the behind start healing Vaan using her Water Magic.

“What should I do, should I kill this beast or just let it go away?”

While Vaan still thinking the boar begin it charge attack toward Vaan but due to his light swordsman skill he manages to avoid that attack with an only minor brush at his right side. Thinking that he manages to avoid the danger Vaan realize behind him is where the location of Media, Media shot several amounts of Water Ball toward the boar but water magic does not give large damage to that monster, Vaan know that Media in dangerous then he uses the Flash Step and appears in front of Media waiting for the attack from the monster he closes his eye and calm himself. When the boar enters the range for Vaan to attack he unleash his sword skill which is Iai, in the split of the second, Grey Boar body being cut in half by Vaan’s sword.

“You did it Vaan, you win against the boar.” Cheer Media.

After rest for a moment, Vaan and Media start again collecting Hanest Flower. As for the Grey Boar, Vaan ties it to the wood stick and drag it to the city, the guard surprise seeing both of them return and bring a dead monster. Boar monster meat can be sold at a good price in the market after Vaan sell all the usable part from the dead boar he and Media head to the Media home to deliver the flower. Vaan takes one piece of the flower and brings it to his home.

Light Swordsman Lv3 – All damage is increased by 3% from original attack power

One of his skills has been level up. Vaan enters his house, and his mother quickly hugs him, she so happy to see his child able to fulfill one of two his father trial. Vaan father just smiles to see his son able to complete that task.

“Well done my boy, but don’t be so proud of yourself because you still aren't completing your trial.”

“I will bring my friend here tomorrow dad, don’t worry.”

“I can’t wait to meet your friend my son.”

“If that so, mom need to cook something special for our guest,” says Vaan’s mother.

Vaan head to his room after the dinner and take place on his bed and thinking to himself. There are many things that he is thinking start from the beginning of his new life, what he will do in this life, how can he make his dream come true. He keeps thinking until late night.

“It no uses to think something that you never knew what will be the result, I should focus on the tomorrow morning.”

Vaan plan is to bring Media to his home and introduce her to his parent, before return to town he had been asked Media if she is willing to help Vaan and his journey to find the spirit. Media gladly accept Vaan and plan to help him with his journey.

Slowly Vaan has lost to his sleepiness and begin to dream in his sleep.

“You still don't sleep yet dear, what you doing,” asks Vaan mother to his father.

“I’m writing a letter to one of my friends, I have been thinking about this for long but I have decided.”

“Can’t you again reconsider my dear? It is not a bit too early for him to go there yet?”

“No, I can’t, when Vaan age reaches 15. I will send him to that place, and that is for his own good.”

“I know went you had made your mind you will not change it again, it will be lonely without him here.”

“Let us cherish this precious time together; when the time has come, we will be ready for him.”
