Chapter 20: Give them Hell!
Benton
After days of planning everyone was ready for the next assault, the target was one of the Commanders largest and most popular safehouses, it was heavily guarded and trapped as hell, place was a fortress only a few ways in or out, but we didn’t plan to take those ways in, the plan was simple on paper, we would send a handful of troops to the front entrance in an all-out assault but that would only be a diversion, as the majority force would be taking the back route in once the defences are lessened in the back. We dropped via helicopter onto the top of a ridge the overlooked the safehouse, we waited as the front pushing force to make their attack. John looked steady, he looked in a better mental state than he had been, for the last few weeks he hadn’t been the same, I didn’t blame him he had blame him though, things had been tough, but I could finally say he was ready to come back and help us stop this global conflict. “We ready?” I asked the squad, everyone nodded, I waited for the call over the radio, and about on que I got the call. Bulled started flying at the main entrance, they used a similar strategy that Jack used in the battle school invasion, they had metal shields charging the front of the assault with a bunch of nimble gunners holding the line behind them, using them as a slow-moving cover their attack was faster and more successful than expected, they were clearing the place out when their objective wasn’t even that, even the all of the enemy personal were fighting this attack, they didn’t even put a dint in the offence, only one of our sides forces took a round and it didn’t even phase them, but they followed orders and once they were close enough the halted position, drawing fire and leaving them open, we knew where everyone who was remaining’s location, we went in the back way, which was a drainage tunnel that lead to the back of the safehouse, as we came out we were met with zero resistance, we then pushed through the house, using regular breaching procedure, we cleared the ground floor, picking off people subtly in the gunfire of the enemy. We then made our way to the second floor, yet again clearing the enemy out whilst they were not expecting it. After the gunfire stopped due to all the enemies being dead, we regrouped out the front door where the shielded force had made its way too “Search the house, there might be useful intel, unfortunately the Commander was not here, but we will get him, we are slowly pulling things apart, we just have to hold form.” I then peered over to John, who was grinning at me like a fucking child, I shook my head at him and cleared off before suddenly I hear a soldier yell “AMBUSH!” bullets began flying at every angle, everyone instinctively went into the house to take defensive positions except for 2 very ballsy individuals. John and Daniel dove behind a large extruding rock, using it for cover holding the line where they were coming from, it was moments like these that reminded me of exactly why our squad won almost all of the time, these two were always laying it on the line making risky but brilliant calls in order to win… but it normally resulted in them taking a death, I was just hoping that it would not be there fate here.

John
Me and Daniel had just dove for cover in a tactical high point, everyone dove inside and took time in order to get in position, allowing the enemy force to close in whilst everyone was inside getting ready. Mine and Daniels plan was to pick off the out in the open army and force them to halt their attack taking cover, or to pick off enough to trigger a retreat, me and Daniel held the line, forcing them to scramble, we had completely muddled their attack. I tapped Daniel on the shoulder “we should push while there scrambled.” Daniel looked at me with a cheeky grin “Lets fucking do it mate!” we then stood up and pushed the attack forward absolutely gunning down a large portion of their scrambled force, we then decided we weren’t going to get too greedy, we stood down and took cover holding the position, laying down consistent fire at the enemy, at this point the enemies forces were weakened enough that a full wipe out assault was no longer possible, however they still had a considerable number advantage over us, but we did have the fortified position of the house which left them almost undefeatable, they were more ready for an ambush then they were, they would not get the jump on us from the front or behind, we had the upper hand due to us being ready for anything. Benton radioed in “Where are they coming from?” too my knowledge they were only coming in the direction we were shooting, “Daniel, go check our rear, make sure were not being flanked.” I then radioed back into Benton “To my knowledge just the left side of the house, Daniel is checking to see if they have a secondary ambushing force.” The radio fell silent for a moment, through all the gunfire It was possible that he was either occupied in a gunfight, unable to hear me or he was injured or worse… I radioed back in “Benton, do you read me?” there was another small stint of radio silence before I got a response. “Yeah, I’m kind of busy at the moment, I’m fighting the sniper!” I sighed a breath of relief, it would only be short lived however as Daniel radioed back. “Bad news, I’m getting ambushed by a backside force on the right side, its only me here and I’m under heavy fire, I need assistance.” I had to make a crucial decision, I could either give up this line of fire and help Daniel, or I could stay and hold it and hope that Benton’s bugged out force could over him from the house. I made the decision quite quickly to help Daniel as this line was pretty well covered by the force in the house. I radioed back in “all forces on the left side, cover the side as make my way over to cover Daniel to hold the back line!” I prepped myself to move from cover and dash inside the house, from there I would clear one of the back windows and make my way to where Daniel was pinned down, I checked my mag to see how many rounds were loaded into it, 23… it was the last of my ammo too as I was only prepped originally for the rear assault which didn’t require much ammo, I overpacked of course but me and Daniel burned through ammo like no tomorrow whilst pushing the enemy to where they are now.

I continued to prep making sure all weapons were loaded, nothing could go wrong as any slip in the system I could be dead within an instant, once everything was ready I gave the team the all clear and the all popped up, unleashing a hailstorm of bulled down towards the enemy, the enemy ceased fire and hid behind cover, but the time that was happening I was already legging it and I was almost there, the team radioed back saying they had to pop back down and reload. As I made it to the door a bullet went right through my leg, hurling me towards the pavement, I hit the ground and played dead, with the radio where my hand was I signalled to my force that I was at the front door and to drag me in, but I got no reply. I figured out the reason quick enough, during the fall it go crushed, making It useless. I laid on the floor helpless, not being able to move because in the time It would take me to get to my feet and open the door, I would be gunned down and dead. I had no radio contact with anyone, and Daniel was still pinned down on the other side of the house. just like in battle school, our plans got us into trouble, I wasn’t ready to give up but there wasn’t much more I could do. But then my logic hit me, if I can shoot out the hinge on the door, I can push it open without getting up, the enemy wouldn’t see me well as I would still be laying there, and the gunfire would just be drowned out. I got my side arm out which was also low on ammo and shot at where the hinge would be, putting multiple rounds into the door before I saw it creep open slightly. I then pushed the door watching it spring open, I then slowly shifted my body weight and with one fell swoop launched myself into the house, I saw gunfire blaze behind me as I was met by the barrel of one of our soldiers “Hey man settle down man, its me!” the soldier looked at me for a moment and heeled, he then looked down and noticed the gaping bullet hole through my leg “I’ll get you to a medic.” I stopped him the moment he said it “Daniels pinned down on the right side, I’ve got to get him out.” The soldier laughed at the hysterics of what was happening. “You are in no shape to go out there, you’re only asking to get yourself killed, you are also probably not far from bleeding out.” I then made a statement by ripping some of my jacket up and wrapping my leg and tying it off, stopping the majority of the bleeding “I won’t leave him behind, he is the only reason were not being minced from behind right now.” The soldier seemed uninterested in arguing and didn’t seem to care if I died, I didn’t blame him, I was putting myself in the thick of it despite his warning. I got to my feet and began to hobble my way to the back window, there was one gunman on the first floor coving Daniel, he was pinned down behind a shipping crate with a large force constantly pushing there way towards him, he had maybe 30 seconds left on the clock before he would be overran, I decided to buy him some extra time, I cleared the window and began to make a large scale push, launching from cover to cover, picking off the enemy one by one, but there were to many and I ran out of rounds in both weapons before I could make enough of a dint to stop them, I called out to the gunner on the window for more ammo but due to the amount of fighting that had done there wasn’t a round to spare. I could tell Daniel was low on Ammo due to his fighting style, I used to see it while we were in battle school, once he was low on ammo he would only engage at close range, wasting no ammo. I watched as Daniel ambushed every soldier that came close to the container, however that wasn’t sustainable he would shortly be overrun if he didn’t make it out, I called out to him “Daniel, get out of there!” Daniel took a quick peer at me, then turned back, peering out from the cover and taking out two more soldiers before ducking back behind cover, he turned back to me “There is no way out, there is too much distance to cover, I’m pinned here until you can push the force back.” I knew for a fact that we couldn’t un-pin him, we were running out of ammo and we were also surrounded. “we won’t be able too! We are running out of resources and time, your best bet is to leg it back here.” I could see Daniel pondering for a moment, he obviously agreed with the idea as he darted out of cover and made a run for it making his way towards the cover that I was behind, just before he drew close enough to jump for cover he got tagged with a round to the upper breast, launching him towards the floor. My heart stopped for a moment at the sight of it, my instincts kicked in and I dived out of cover with the best speed I was able to muster and began to drag him back behind cover, bullets whistled past us as I pulled him to where I was previously located, but as I went to push Daniel over the cover one round managed to tag me in the shoulder, I yelled in pain as a flung Daniel over the edge, I followed immediately after, I hit the ground hard and took a moment to breathe and deal with a now second bullet wound, I tore off more of my Jacket and wrapped the new wound until it could be treated, I looked down and checked on Daniel and was shaken to my core from what I saw…
