《The boys in another world!》The reason.

Alex,Ethan and Josie: "WHAT THE
FUCK?!"
They couldn't help but swear! "You call that a damn trick?!" they all thought.
Josie: "Bro! Teach us too, you gotta teach us!"
Alex and Ethan: "Yeah! Yeah!"
Jay held up his smugness as he swayed his giant tail side to side.
Jay: "Hmmmm..."
Hearing that 'hmmm' their gazes deepened as anticipation overtook their minds. After a few minutes Jay finally opened his mouth.
Jay: "Of course I'll teach you! But you all must promise to always train hard and never slack off! I feel like something bad is going to happen."
Although Jay was acting like this for his own amusement he wasn't joking about the bad feeling he had.
It was just one step away from entering his life and he didn't want that. So he was determined to raise his brothers' strength so they could help fight against this upcoming danger which he felt.
Their training began. Everyday they would go to the forest to train. All of Jay's brothers had three affinities just like him! Alex had wind, earth and wood. Ethan had fire, ice and lightning and finally Josie had light, darkness and sound!
Everyone was shocked by Josie's last element. A sound element was extremely rare!
Kira and Eraison were slightly startled hearing Alex, Josie and Ethan speak so early but they were soon overwhelmed with joy.
Kira would occasionally sing about having 4 little monsters bringing joy to the ever so silent mountain cave.
Jay and his brothers grew to enjoy this life.
On a snowy day Jay went hunting for the family. He saw his mother lying in the cave and he immediately remembered a topic that crossed his mind a few days ago.
Jay: "Mom, why are we not in a monster clan?"
Kira's ears sprung up with that question. She opened her eyes and gazed at the snowy sky before releasing a long and deep sigh.
Kira: "Well.. I guess it's time you know. The reason why we're not in a monster clan is simple. It's because of envy."
Jay: "Envy? Mom I'm not really getting it at all."
Kira: "(Sigh) This child… (she thought) When I say envy I meant the envy of another's potential. It was just my sister. Oh how she envied me. She always tried her hardest to surpass me and even tried to cripple me in every way but I always saw through it."
"I was always one step ahead. Until one day she did something I didn't expect. She poisoned the Head of the Zeriphe Clan, our.. father..!"
She paused before saying: "Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected that bitch to actually poison our father! At that time your father and I were mingling behind the backs of everyone so when she blamed me they believed it."
"I was of royalty, the main clan, and your father? He was just from a side branch. Yet your father's the only man I've ever loved!"
"They all knew I'd do anything to be with that man and they all thought that my father no longer allowed me to see Eraison, so they thought I poisoned him out of rage."
"That wasn't the case.. My father was planning a grand wedding just for your father and I. He accepted Eraison as his son-in-law wholeheartedly!"
"With a few words from her I lost all rights to inherit my father's position."
"She ordered the clan members to capture, torture and even violate me but that's when your father came in and slaughtered almost every Zeriphe attempting to lay their filthy hands on me. He looked so cool back then..(She said with a warm smile and starry eyes.)"
Jay: "M-mom! I promise you! I'll bring you her head and make all those who defied you kneel and beg for forgiveness!"
Jay said through gritted teeth. Kira looked at him warmly without saying anything and just nodded. She believed him.
Jay: "For grandpa..! For you!! I'll dye the entire Zeriphe Clan with blood!!!!!"
Jay swore an absolute oath at this moment. Feeling the slaughter intent leaking out of his body Kira slightly shivered. She looked at his now retreating figure while silently picturing the scene of slaughter.
She couldn't help but grin menacingly showing off her milky white fangs!
Jay returned to his brothers and informed them about their mother's situations. They instantly teared up!
Alex: "Dammit!!! M-mom's been carrying such a heavy burden all this time!! Dad and mom couldn't gain the support of their own clan?!"
Ethan: "Yeah! That's utter bullshit! That fucking bitch of an aunty!! Boys, we need to get stronger! Our first goal in this new life.. is revenge!"
Josie: "Yes! Bros now that we're actual brothers our bond is at least 4 times stronger! This pain will become an eternal scar which will nurture us!"
Jay: "Well said. However, I'll take the so-called 'aunty' of us brothers."
Instantly an abyssal black darkness covered Jay's face as his eyelids drooped!
A terrifyingly cold killing intent swept out of his body as he sat upwards in a majestic position. The boys all shivered. They gulped a few times before nodding vigorously.
Although they could be considered quadruplets they all agreed on making Jay the big brother. Why? It's simple.
Jay was not only the most powerful one but also the one that brought them back. He looked out for them with the same care as a bigger brother would and they all felt safer with him.
It's not that they are dependent but rather they are grateful! Jay was always there for mom and dad while they were just sleeping souls. If it weren't for Jay they wouldn't even be here.
Jay could've taken everything he wanted for himself and not share this experience yet he tried his hardest to bring them back.
They all felt the immense brotherly love Jay would show them and it made them feel warm inside.

With that being said they all secretly decided that Jay was their big brother. They would only listen to him, mom and dad.
Jay nodded while smiling lightly. Like so, their training's difficulty increased by a great amount. Jay taught ||Dragon's Cry|| to Ethan and ||Shadow Bind|| to Josie.
Unknowingly another 2 years passed. Deep inside the forest a 4 metre tall black lion with a massive full mane that sparkled like the starry night was battling against a massive monster tide.
In the back was a 3.5 metre tall white lion with a full and milky coloured mane watching with eager eyes.
Alongside him were two lions mixed with both white and black.
Ethan looked at Jay with immense eagerness! He was waiting for his turn to battle against the monster tide!
Jay lighty raised his paw and out of nowhere a bloodied flame ignited!
Glancing at the incoming monsters the flame's density suddenly kicked up and swallowed his paw.
Jay slammed his paw onto the ground with extreme force causing multiple spider web cracks to spread out underneath his body.
Jay: "Purgatory Flame!"
Crackle!
Swoosh!
BOOOOOOOM!
A massive pillar of flames suddenly erupted out of the ground, wrapping itself around the incoming monsters!
In an instant they were all burnt beyond recognition!
Ethan, Alex and Josie all had yearning eyes to learn that skill. However Alex and Josie seemed to recall their attributes and couldn't help but smile bitterly.
Helix: [Congratulations sir for killing a three headed wolf queen! You have gained 60,000 exp!]
[Congratulations sir for killing a multi-eyed giant boar! You have gained 89,000 exp!]
[Congratulations sir for….]
A massive stream of notices sounded off inside of Jay's head. In the end he couldn't even level up once. Jay smiled bitterly.
Jay: "Alright. Who wants to come up and show off their newly created skill?"
Ethan: "Of course I!"
Josie: "Yeah go on 'Elijah'"
Jay and Alex: "Pfft"
Ethan: "Shut the hell up you bastards!"
Jay: "Alright alright we're sorry. Now come up and kill those zero iq having ass monsters!"
Ethan nodded. Jay went to the back and sat down while constantly retracting and unsheathing his claws.
Ethan looked at the monsters and grinned widely. Raising his paws into the air he unsheathed his claws.
An extreme coldness instantly broke out dropping the temperature to a dangerously low level!
Without any hesitation he clawed at the empty space in front.
Ethan: "Decimating Icicles!"
Multiple icicles shot out of the ground, impaling almost every monster rampaging through the forest.
At the same time arcs of lightning danced inside of the many icicles.
They all glowed brightly and with a 'Boom' they all exploded blowing the monsters to bits of flesh, blood and bones!
Jay: "Holy shit and you guys call me cruel? Bahahaha!"
Alex: "Damn! Ethan bro are you depressed or something? They were already dead, hahaha!"
Josie: "Yeah I think he's pissed because he doesn't like the name mom gave him. Maybe if he ask mo-"
Jay and Alex: "Are you crazy man?! Mom would tear his guts out and eat it if he complained about his name. She loved that shit too much bro!"
Josie: "Oh yeah my bad bros."
Jay: "Ok! Ethan! Well done little brother! That was an impressive use of ice and lightning! Just gave me an idea as well. Now who else wants a go?"
Josie: "Me!!"
Jay nodded and flicked his paw indicating he should go up. Ethan wished him luck and came back to his original spot.
Josie immediately raised his paw and stomped down on the ground. The place fell quiet when suddenly the ground started to quake violently!
Josie: "Chains of the abyss!"
Crack!
Whoosh!!!
Jet black chains broke out of ground and instantly wrapped around the many beasts that still remained alive on the field.
Josie shifted his paw and almost immediately some lower realm monsters exploded into bits of flesh!
But he wasnt finished! He raised his other paw as several rays of white light condensed above the now chained up monsters.
Josie was shaking immensely but he pushed on through gritted teeth. The lights took the form of several spears and they all gave off an unholy feeling.
Taking a deep breath in he tightened his gaze before shouting: "Archangel's Descent!"
Vwooom!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The spears all shot down like arrows piercing through the sky! The light illuminated the entire forest before an overwhelmingly powerful explosion rippled out!
Jay: "That….was…..so….damn...COOL!!"
Ethan and Alex: "Hell yeah!!"
But their expressions all changed when they witnessed Josie had fell to the ground, unconscious.
Jay, Alex and Ethan: "Bro!!"
They ran towards Josie and checked his pulse. Seeing that he was alive a wave of relief washed over their hearts.
Jay: "Alex, maybe another time we'll review your new skill okay? For now you and Ethan take Josie back, got it?"
Alex and Ethan: "Got it bro! But what about you? Aren't you coming?"
Jay: "I'll catch up. I sense an odd presence!"
Ethan and Alex nodded while Jay placed Josie on Ethan's back. They soon left and Jay turned his attention back to the monster tide.
He used ||Dragon's Cry|| and instantly wiped them out.
Jay sent out his mana in forms of small strings and quickly located the energy he felt before.
Jay's giant figure disappeared and instantly appeared next to a cave not so far away from their training spot.
Entering without a care in the world Jay stumbled upon something that shocked him immensely.
Jay: "W-why is there such a young cub here?!"

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
