《Beauty Perspective》Chapter 10

They walked around for awhile, until Nolan spoke up. "Lina, sorry about last night. I didn't mean to upset you, but I didn't know you had a tail, until that moment. Did I hurt you or was that considered wrong to do?"
Lina looked away embarrassed. "You didn't do anything wrong, master. It's just that boars are embarrassed and even ashamed of our tails."
"Why are you ashamed of it?"
"Theirs a saying, 'as useless as a boars tail'. Out of the rats, wolves, rabbits and boars, our tails are completely useless. The rats can hit someone with theirs and some can even grip onto something. It's a part of wolf communication and it's even fluffy. Even the rabbits, even though it's short, are extremely soft. Ours is long enough to be uncomfortable and too short to be worth alter clothes. It's just a nuisance. Unlike the wolves or rats, if we lose our tail, no one would notice. Some boars cut it off to make it more comfortable. My tail isn't useful, it's not soft or fluffy, it's just useless."
'Wow. That makes a lot of sense.' "So you don't want me to touch it, because you think it's useless? If that's what you want, then I'll try to remember not to touch it."
Lina looked at him surprised. "Master, you can do whatever you want. It just uh."
"How about this? I don't want you to be uncomfortable, so if I really want to touch it, I'll ask if you're okay with it. Also, don't be ashamed of it, because you think it's useless. It's a part of you, and so far I've liked and enjoyed every part of you. Okay?"
She nodded her head and stayed quiet. Celine then pointed out a building, helping them move on from that conversation. "Master, that's the adventurer guild. We need to go their to register you."
"Why?"
"If you sign up for the adventurer guild, you receive the perks of being a part of the guild. They give out quests, based on rank. The higher your rank the better paying jobs you can get. The guild is a neutral entity. Any race is accepted. This is how towns hire temporary guards. The guild pays for information that they sell to other members. Like dungeons. That's how we ended up at the goblin dungeon. It's very helpful. Members even sell stuff to each other their. It's a safe place for all members. Even slaves are under guild protection, if their masters let them join." Celine sounded excited to join.
"Is their a reason that you're so excited to join, Celine?"

"Yes. I love to learn, master. Some members even sell their journals to the guild. These people have explored across the known lands. I've always wanted to be able to get one of those journals. Sometimes they have information no one else knows. Or even closely guarded secrets. I've dreamed of having my own library of books. To even have a few journals from A-rank or even S-rank adventurers." Her eyes seemed to sparkle as she talked.
"Well, you've convinced me. Let's go join up." He said while walking to the guild. "Celine, if you want, I'll give you some extra money to buy some books."
"Really, master?" She looked at him with such happiness.
"Yeah. If you think it will help us know some necessary stuff, I'll even give you a monthly budget." He smiled at how happy she was. "So far, you've been my source of information. If you want to learn something, it would only benefit the entire group."
"Thank you, master. I will do my best to live up to your expectations."
"Just remember, we can't spend to much on books. We need to pay for other stuff as well." Looking to Lina, trying not to exclude her. "What about you, Lina? Is their anything you want?"
She blushed and looked away. "I couldn't make such a request of you. I'm just a slave to relieve your urges."
"Don't say that, Lina. If you don't tell me, how will we know if it's okay or not?"
Celine smiled and nudged Lina. "Come on Lina. Master might even enjoying fulfilling your request." The look she gave suggested that she knew what it was.
"Master, did you have children back in your world?" Lina started asking.
"No."
"Never mind." She gave up.
"Alright, let's go inside then. I'm excited to get registered." 'Dear god, she wants to have my children. We already went through a panic about that. I'm not ready.'
They went in the building and saw tables with people around them, most likely groups doing quests together. A wall covered in papers, probably the quest notices. And two reception desks.
One had a sign above it saying 'jobs'. The other said 'trade'. Nolan looked around, then walked up to the jobs desk. "Excuse me, we want to register to be adventurers."
The person at the desk was a woman with long pointed ears. She gave him a bored look. "You don't look like you would pass the exam."
"Exam? What exam?" 'The crap, it better not be a written test.'
She looked annoyed. "The exam to determine your rank. They go from F to A-rank. If you fail to pass even F-rank standards, then you will have to wait a month to try again."

"Oh. Then we'll come back in a few days." Nolan then left with the girls. "Sorry Celine, but we should wait until we get our stuff from the dwarves first."
"I understand, master." She seemed disappointed to have to wait.
"Anything else you girls want to do?"
"Master, there is a library just next to the guild. Can we go see it?" Celine's excitement had returned.
"Wait, if you're so interested in books, why did we go to the guild first?"
"I had heard that guild members get a discount their." She said shyly.
"I see. Well let's go check it out then."
They then walked up to the entrance to be stopped by a guard. He then pointed to the big board next to him. "If you don't know the rules in the library, read the sign. If you know the rules, you can pay and go in."
Nolan then started reading the sign. 'One gold coin, per person, to enter. The building has a barrier that doesn't allow the use of storage rings. If you damage a book, you will be fined. If you cause serious damage to a book, you will be fined double its value. If you are a D or C-rank, it's ten silver. B-rank or above adventurer, it's one silver. No fighting is allowed. If you cause trouble, the adventurers guild will be summoned to take care of it.'
'Makes sense, the adventurers guild is right next door, and information is powerful.' "Alright, lets go in." He then handed three gold to the guard and a bag of coins to Celine. "Celine, I want you to keep track of this. If we find any books we want, we use that. No more than that."
"Yes, master."
When they walked in, they saw a human male receptionist and rows upon rows of books. The receptionist looked up, from his paperwork. "If you are here to buy, tell me the title and I will send for a copy. If you want to browse, you have until we close in five hours. If you need help finding anything, feel free to ask me." He then went back to his paperwork.
They started off, exploring the library. Nolan and Lina stuck together, since Lina wasn't interested in books. And afraid to damage them. While Celine went off in search of something useful, interesting and affordable.
Nolan searched for awhile, finding books that were in other languages and stories. 'I've never looked for books before. The internet made it easy to find stuff.' Nolan gave up and asked the receptionist. "Do you know if you have a book like magic for dummies?"
"Yes we do. It's a series called Magic for Halfwits. There are six books in that series. Their is also a second series called Mages for Halfwits, with five in the set. It's a silly title, but they are very accurate and informative books. A bit expensive too, if you buy both complete sets."
Nolan stood their stunned for a moment. 'That sounds perfect, and likely someone from earth wrote them.' "How much for both sets?"
"Nine hundred gold."
Nolan thought for a moment if that was a good price or not. Celine then walked up to the receptionist. "Excuse me, I found you have the 'Adventurers Guide for Dungeon Monsters: Goblins'. Do you have the rest of the set?"
"Yes, we do. Lycans, orcs, skeevers, gnomes and fairies."
"How much is the entire set?"
"Sixty gold, ten gold each."
"Could you get me an entire set?"
"One second." He then shuffled some paper, until he found a blank one. Writing something, he then spoke. "Anything else?"
"I also found one called 'Understanding Outsiders', and do you have 'A Rat's Knowledge of Poisons'?"
He then went through some papers. "Yes, we have both volume one and two. The first is five gold and the other two are twelve gold each."
"Yes, I'll take those as well."
Writing things down again. "Anything else?"
Celine then looked to her Nolan. "Master, is their anything you wanted?"
He was considering wether to buy both sets of books on magic. "Can either of you use magic?"
Celine gave a small smile to his question. "I can use water magic, master. But Lina has no magic. All boars are incapable of magic."
He then explained about the books he was considering. "What do you think, Celine? Think it's a good deal?"
"I think it would be good and helpful to know. It would probably help me use what little magic I have better." She pondered for a moment. "If we had someone with healing magic, and an interest in what mages can do, it's a pretty good deal. But, my capability in magic is weak. And we don't have a healer. Unless you just wanted to know more about magic, I don't think you should buy them."
Nolan thought for a minute about whether it was worth it.

The Final Quest
Everybody loves the Elder Scrolls games, no matter what game a person plays, it always is a unique and fun time. This is just one verse in the song of Tamriel. Call it Fanfiction, call it a light novel, heck just call it a one shot story. I don't care.(well actually I do, but thats next to the point) However, please remeber this as you read. This story is created through my own understanding of the story of the Elder Scrolls world.(with some help from online videos) If I misinterpret something, say so. I may fix it... eventually. Please, enjoy The Final Quest
8 141Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
8 128Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
