《End of the World》Pt. 2 Chapter 3

It has been 500 years since we set for the planet. We encountered some enemies, which slowed us down, and we managed to save up the energy needed. We are close to it, just a few more days and we will arrive. Tannyll is halfway through her pregnancy and Portia gave birth to our son. He is one of the generals of the army and will be the first general to touch the planet and secure it. Cleo is still alive and looks like she is in her thirties, even though she is 516, the children that she was taking care of grew up and found people they loved and died of age.
I was surprised that they died earlier than most people do, but life won't stop for anyone. Most of the bridge crew were replaced because they either died or grew too old to continue working. I was somehow getting to a point where death doesn't affect me anymore... shit. I need to spend some time to organize my mind, but there is no time for me anymore. I have to grow stronger than what should be possible for anyone.
I managed to get a good scan of the planet and found a good location big enough for the ship and for us to build a base to come back to. I fell asleep for a few days and when I woke up, we were on the ground and a foundation for a base was formed. I noticed that there were people nearby and they had formed a town around one building that was busy. I assume that it is the town center, but I still want to wait a few days to get out defenses up before I leave.
few days later
Our defenses are up and the walls were starting so I took some men and went to the town. As we entered, there were stalls next to the road and people were crowding around them. They all spoke in a language that we could understand, which was english, and some were wearing some weird cloths but we didn't care as we don't know what it is like on this world.

I had better hearing than the others so I managed to over hear some people talking about what was going on at the town center. We looked around and saw that the town center was actually the building next to the busy one. We entered the town center and as we sides saw what the townsfolk meant. There was a tournament going on and apparently the prize was that the mayor's, or governor, daughter would marry them.
I felt sick and when I looked at my men, even though there was some lust, they were sick about this too. I whispered "Don't focus on the tournament, I will worry about that. Focus on the people around us and make sure that you don't start a fight first." As they heard that, there was a commotion in the crowd as they realized that there were complete strangers. When the leader, what I'll call him for now, saw that every was quiet, he looked over and saw us and shouted "THE GODS HAVE COME TO VISIT US, OUR LITLE TOWN HAS THE APPROVAL OF THE GODS."
As soon as I heard that, I just laughed out loud and said "We are no god, we are normal people. We just came here because I needed to talk to the leader of this town. Though, how is this world not affected by what's going on?"
"You are not gods, then what are you and what do you mean 'not affected'?" He asked.
"I'll tell you when we.can speak in private and to answer your first question, we are humans, cyborgs, elves, witches/wizards, etc. " I say.
"Well then, why don't you fight in the tournament? We can see for ourselves whether you are gods or not." The leader suggested. I accepted and had one of my men go out and join the tournament. We arrived late so all the weak opponents were taken out so all of the strong opponents were left. I have faith that my men can handle the situation so I went to the leader and introduced myself. When he heard my name, he gave me his name too.

"So Doonma, can you tell me more about this place?" I asked.
"There isn't much to know. We nymphs, harpies, and lamias all live in this town and go by three rules. One is rape isn't allowed at all, if there is suspicion of rape, the town will go to the offenders house and kill him. The second one is that all daughters, when they reach the age of 300, they are required to have a mate for life. If they have a mate, they still have the ability to have sex with others, just no kids. The third rule is no violence unless there is a tournament or a rule is broken. The rules for the competition is no death and if you are unable to fight anymore, then you have lost. " Doonma said.
"Ok that is easy to remember. One thing you will learn about humans is that we don't give up easy. If we want something badly, then we will risk our lives to get it." I said loud enough for everyone to hear, including my men, and to encourage my group. I looked at my soldier down there and he nodded thanks to me.
"What plan do you have with him? " Doonma asked.
"Nothing, just reminding him that we are too stupid to give up." I respond. As it came time for the final match, we had won every match and faced off against the final foe. I was too busy talking to Doonma about the world while the rest of my men were watching the fight. By the time the match ended, I learned more about this world that we will be sharing . The victor was my man and the leader stood up and said "Congratulation, the prize is my daughter Evelyn, what would you like to do with her? "
"I want to give her to my boss." He said. When I heard that, I started to cough hard while the others, my men, were laughing at me.
"What did you say?!" I almost shouted out.

This is my Mother Sharon Bouriaque's work. She passed away in 2003. I loved reading my mother's work and she got me into writing. So I'm putting this out there with full credit to her. I have made some modification to technology since there has been a lot of changes to technology from when she wrote this until now. But other than that and a few very basic edits the work is hers.
