Chapter 3: Date
Please tell me if you find any mistakes and feedback is always welcome.
Peter
I am so happy right now. The reason for this is that I have a date with the most perfect woman I ever met. Her name is Valerie. She is in her early twenties and has a slender body with some great curves and pure black hair that she wears in a long ponytail that almost reaches her hips.
She has a sharp looking face that makes it look like she is a cold person. She also has green eyes which means that she has a pretty good aptitude for magic. Most of the times she has a stern and aloof look in her eyes but I have noticed that the moment she looks at me or her child that the look in her eyes immediately becomes a warm and caring one. She is a fallen noble which means that she and her children are still allowed to learn and use magic.
But most importantly she is a very gentle person. She never tries to spark conflicts or discussions and she always makes sure that other people are happy. The only problem is that because of that she ignores her own happiness and well being sometimes.
If I had to name one bad thing about her it would her child. It is not like I dislike her child or anything it is just that it always looks like he is observing me and to be honest that look creeps me a bit out. There is also the problem that every time we want to go at it her child start crying in the other room and when we stop to look what is happening we just find him sitting on the ground. But I am sure that that child is doing this on purpose because every time she looks away he gives me a big evil grin.
Well I guess I should start preparing for our date. Lets start with shaving.
Well now that this is done what should I ware? Maybe my guard uniform. Nonono that’s a bad idea it makes it look like I am to caught up in my work.
What about this blue robe. Wait why do I even have this its not like I am a mage or something.
I got it lets just pick a plain gray pants and a blue shirt. Yeah that’s a good idea. I do hope she doesn't find out I am a complete idiot when it come's to style.

Well lets get going. Should I buy her a gift? Maybe something like flowers, no never mind that is to old fashioned. Maybe chocolate? No that won't be possible I can't afford something like that. Come on think Peter think.
I got it a nice picture book for her child. Yes that way it looks like I would be a good father. Nice thinking Peter.
As I enter the bookstore I hear an old voice: “Hihihihi, oh look who we have here its little Peter, long time no see. Never thought you would walk into my bookstore again after you stopped doing delivery work. So why are you here boy?”
I clear my throat and say with a tired voice: “Old hag, I need a picture book that helps with teaching the alphabet.
The old hag starts to grin before saying:”oh you forgot how to read”
“It's a gift for Valerie”, I reply.
She answers me with a cold and serious tone:“Ah yes that girl Valerie, she is way to good for you. If I ever hear that you are causing trouble for that sweet girl I will make sure that you will regret the day you where born. But here take this book if its for her I can give you a discount so that means it costs 10 silver.”
I hand over the money, take the book and start making my escape.
I start walking to the park to wait for Valerie.
Valerie
I am so happy right now. I was very scared that the misfortune would never stop but luckily it did. First of all the joy of my life is doing great. I was scared what those experiments would do to him but so far nothing out of the ordinary happened and he is just a normal child is what I would like to say but sometimes when he thinks I don't see him he looks at me with a strange look that could be called a look of pity and regret and self blame. I hope he doesn't remember that I got kicked out of my noble house because of him.
But apart from the occasional strange look and that he start to cry every time I want to play around with Peter he seems to be a normal child.
The second reason I am so happy right now is because of Peter. He was the guard that carried me home after the incident at the facility. He is a really caring guy in his mid twenties and treats my child like it is his own. He is a pretty big guy with a muscular build. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.

Today I have a date with him.
I am going to wear a skirt and a blouse with some cleavage or maybe not. Will he think I am a vulgar girl if I wear something like that. I can also wear a shirt without cleavage but won't I look to much like a snob to him if I do that. I see by little angel walking into the room. He looks at my then looks at my shirt and then gives me a thumbs up and says: Mommy looks pretty.” Before stealing the blouse which show no cleavage and starts running away again.
What just happened? Well I guess I will pick the one with cleavage.
Now I need to start doing my hair. Maybe I should stop wearing it in a long ponytail. I start moving my hand to my hair in order undo the knot in that keeps my ponytail together when I suddenly see my child running into the room and giving me a thumbs down. After he makes sure I keep my hair in a ponytail I see him trying to sneak away again.
Well I don't have time to think about what he is doing since I am almost to late. I should better get going.
Peter
“Peter” I hear a sweet voice calling out to me. Oh sorry Val what were you saying again I was lost in my thought. Of course I am lying and the real reason why did not hear her was because my attention was focused on something else, well I could better say on two different things. Oh god this situation is dangerous I don't think I can hold a decent conversation when she is showing so much of her twin towers to me.
“….......thanking you for the picture book”, I am able to focus my attention on her words again after a long battle with my desires and I am just in time to hear the last part of the sentence I asked to repeat.
Its nothing Val but I want to ask you something why did you decide to wear this blouse today?”
“Well don't laugh but it was my child who choose this shirt for me.”
Way to go my future son. You really gave me a great present.”
Valerie
The date was a great success but it seemed like his attention was wandering of occasionally I do hope nothing bad happened. We decided that we would marry but for that we first need a child as per custom in our country. So that means that today I will have to act heartless and ignore my little angel.
I and Peter go to the bedroom and like always my little angel starts crying in the room next to us. We go to him and place a sound proof mana barrier around him. I swear I could hear my heart breaking. Peter pulls me away from him before I start crying.
A broken child
I hear my mother muttering some strange words before a barrier start to surround me. I start to shout ”MOM, MOM, mom, mom, please, mom please don't leave me alone.” I see her walking away. I can hear my mind crumbling down before everything goes blank
Valerie
When I come back to undo the spell I just see him sitting on the ground desperately repeating “ Mom come back.” I am a terrible parent, I start crying and hug him tightly to try to calm him down.”
Peter
Oh dear god what did I do. I would never have though one could have such an unstable mind at such a young age. I must be from that night when I saw Val carrying him into town 2 years ago. What kind of things happened to that child.
An old soul in a young body
What just happened why did I react in such a way. What are these memories that are flooding my mind. Wait I know it these must be from when my previous mother left me. I thought I had forgotten them. Seems like this triggered the all the emotions I was keeping locked up ever since then. I start regaining my senses and feel a comfortable warmth surrounding me. I open my eyes and see my mother crying while apologizing. I hug her as tightly as possible. And try to speak “It is okay mom I am fine again, sorry for always stopping your fun time.”
Peter
I am relieved. Everything turned out alright but I was right that little punk was doing it on purpose. I do wonder where he learned what “play time means”

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
