《Never Bring Sword Into a Gun Fight》A Curious Case in the Tree's Nest

[Where are we going, Mr Dean?] Billy
[There should be a small village ahead. Let's just follow the road for now] me
We've been leaving Dasi village for hours now. According to the map I get from Val, there is a small village not far from here.
It doesn't have any name written on the map.
Is the settlement too small that it doesn't have any name? Or the map is not that detailed?
But Dasi village is registered here.
Oh well, It's not that rare that a medieval mapping system missing out on some detail after all.
As long as all the road on this map is still there, I won't complain about some unnamed villages.
After walking for more hours, we finally arrived at a village. It's far smaller than Dasi village. It doesn't even have a wall, let alone a gate. I can easily count the building here using my fingers.
[Billy, can you secure our lodging in that tavern over there? I don't see any information board here so I'll ask around for a mercenaries request.] Me
[No problem Sir. I'll also ask around the tavern for information.] Billy
[Thanks. And get some food while you're at it.] Me
[Will do] Billy
I ask around some people here and they all pointing to the building near the center that is supposed to be their village chief house.
[Greetings sire. Do you need something?] Village chief
[Umm... Good evening... I'm here to ask if you need any assistance from a mercenary?] Me
[I'm afraid we don't have any requests of that sort at the moment, sir.] Village chief
[Hmm, it's fine. Then, can you tell me something about this village? I don't see any information about it on the map that I got.] Me

[This small settlement sir? Haha. I actually surprise if this place was even drawn on the map.] Village chief.
[As you can see, this is just a small community. We don't bother naming this place but the wanderer that comes here calls it the Tree's Nest. I'm the acting leader here, my name is Loan.] Loan
....
[Thats about all that I can say about this place sir.] Loan
[It's good enough, thank you. If anything comes up, you can find me in the tavern.] Me
[No problem sir and thank you for your concern. Please, do enjoy our food and mead.] Loan

[Welcome back, Mr. Dean. Do you find anything?] Billy
[I'm afraid not. Nothing we can do here. How about you?] Me
[I'm also empty. But, that old man over there, he claims that he's a bard. He said that he's not having any information to share, but maybe if you talk to him] Billy
[I'll try] Me
[Ehm. Good evening sir.] Me
[Oohh another mercenary? I wonder why this small place has become so lively.] Old Bard
[Heard you're a bard. Care to entertainers me with some story?] Me
[Straight to business, I see. Hmm? Can you come closer child?] Old Bard
Hmm?
[Hahahaha. I see. Bard sigil eh? You ought to attract unwanted attention if you dangling it on your chest like that, young man.] Old Bard.
[Umm... Thanks for the advice. But back to the chase, are you sure you don't have any information for us?] Me
[Hmm... I do actually. But I don't know if I want to tell you] Old bard
[You can name your price] Me
[Hahahaha... Just look at me, young man! Do you think I can use the money you gave me? Nah, I'm just a retired old man. Piece! is what I need.] Old bard

The Unified States of Mana
My name is Kyra Baker, I’m 20 years old and a university student, and recently I’ve been offered a scholarship to a definitely-not-shady magical academy. A ‘support device’ I was given shows me a list of classes I can take, all involving mana, magic, and Skills with a capital S. To get there I was lumped into a ship full of strange and alien creatures, jumping between worlds as we pick up more and more hapless ‘students’. Things were starting to make a little sense, until the ship crashed into an alien world. Now, I might be getting trained as a rebel soldier, or something? Looking on the bright side, I haven’t gotten this much exercise in a long time and there are plenty of cute girls around. When I develop some Skills and work on my classes, maybe I’ll become strong enough to actually have the time to flirt with them. ~ One of the few surviving records thought to be written by the Empress before her rise to power. I gasped and released him, covering my mouth to stop from screaming. "Holy shit dude! What happened to your-?!" Tears were forming in his eyes but he looked down and hid his hand from me. "Please d-don't worry about it. Let's just go find a real hospital already." He said while shaking. "I...I don't want to think about it right now O-okay? It's no big deal..It's just...it's a finger..." My mind went blank. I pulled him into a tight hug. I wanted to do nothing much but to cry right now. I got him into this mess. This was all my fault.
