《The Endless War》Chapter 22: Castle Ingram

The Basilisk was a race of serpent-like humans with the potential to inject their toxins. This substance was very deadly to any organism once it got into their bloodstream. Commonly it would affect their nervous system and cause their blood to clot up.
However, every Basilisk’s venom was slightly different from one another. One thing always remained the same being bitten by one would definitely shorten your lifespan.
Noel lied in the backseat of the vehicle, struggling now just to breathe. He was losing his motor functions and starting to slip away into a dream-like state. Beads of sweat were dripping down his forehead and pooling under his neck.
“Nuuhhh…” Noel moaned, most likely in intense amounts of pain.
Yadon looked over at Noel, showing some form of worry and concern over his comrade.
“Those Basilisks are deadly man. Just one bite was enough to bring down Noel in mere minutes.” Yadon mentioned.
“I warned you guys. Right now we need to focus on getting to Ingram’s castle so we can find him some help.” Clare instructs.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the Ingram had an antidote of sorts to cure Noel. If not then he may have been lost to the group.
Isaac remained silent still shocked by the situation. This was different from that time they were all in the woods. Together they could fight off the Leviathan but this was different.
If we don’t hurry and find Noel some help… he’s going to die.
He kept his eyes on the road watching the scenery though everything looked the same in the end. It was like they weren’t moving at all.
After a few more minutes passed they finally found something to let them know that they were indeed moving forward. It was a small village filtered with various people.

There were small huts closed in together along with various merchant stores selling various goods. Possibly no one who could help but at this point, they were getting desperate.
“Should we stop by and see if anyone can help him?” Yadon asks.
“Looks like we won’t have a choice.” Jace points out.
The truck came to a stop as a group of Basilisk blocked their path. They were all dressed similarly as the other ones with their loincloths blowing gently in the wind.
“Run then over man! We don’t have time for this!” Yadon shouts.
“We can’t act hostile here. It could ruin our relationship with the King.” Jace says calmly.
“If we wait for them to act hostile they could kill us!” Yadon continues.
“Hssst. What an interesting piece of technology you humans have. I know this would sell for a lot at the market.” The Basilisk mentioned.
“Sorry, it’s not for sale.”
“You humans come to our turf and expect not to pay a toll? Don’t kid yourself. If you hand your toy over we’ll consider letting you live.”
“...” Jace was hesitant at this point it seems that they would have to get into another scuffle. But they really didn’t have time for that.
“What do you think you’re doing? Harassing people?” A distant voice was heard.
“Don’t tell me…” The Basilisks appeared to be worried for some reason.
“You should understand that we have a growing relationship with Terra and their people. I won’t allow you to sully that.”
“Who’s that Jace?” Yadon asks.
“Lamont Ingram son of the King.”
Lamont Ingram was the son to Bram Ingram the King of Ingrann. He stood at six foot two inches with short length orange hair which appeared to be brushed forward. His eyes were a prideful green while he wore red boots that stopped by his knees along with matching red plated arm guards. Covering his torso was a long white cloak with traces of red on the edges.

“Go on about your business and I’ll ignore this.”
“Don’t be so full of yourself. The King’s reign is coming to an end!”
“What nonsense do you spout?”
The traveling Basilisks were very aggressive and soon all three of them moved in towards Lamont with the intent of actually trying to harm him.
“How sad…” He muttered before raising his arm. His hand was above his head and pretty soon the traveling serpents halted.
Blood squirted out heavily as the three serpents were missing limbs. There was no mercy to this attack as shown when one of their heads dropped into the sand.
Lamont’s hand had a faint green sheen. Emerging from the ground were thin but deadly wires made entirely from his mana and like a snake he had crushed his enemies.
The sight was unholy to the people in the truck but it was expected to see something like this. Death was a huge part of the war.
No one took this scene harder than Isaac who was opposed to all of the killings. Even if they were in the wrong these were still Lamont’s people but he offends them all so quickly.
Is this really the way?

Condemned
“The human body is a fragile thing. But the soul... The soul is malleable. Easily tainted. All it takes is one drop of blood to dye it all red.” Long ago, in a time remembered only by a few, the seven lords of Syvernia, led by the Great Hero Ludwig, ended the Great Calamity that plagued humanity for as long as time itself. It was the dawn of a new age of man. . . until the thirst for more poisoned the new lords. Slowly, the thread that held humanity together loosened and a thick haze consumed the lands between. Mysterious vanishings, supernatural forces, and silence warns of a looming threat inside the coat of fog. Though the struggle of the realms did not interest Leor, for he was condemned as a Purblight, until he took a seemingly simple job: escort Alden to Lightendale and collect the handsome reward, a reward that would let him live the rest of his life with ease. But it’s never that simple, especially for someone who denounced the Gods. All his life, death followed Leor everywhere he went, cutting down his friends and family. When his first love died at the hands of an agent of light, he was prepared to throw everything away until a mysterious voice promised him a chance for retribution and a chance to bring her back by completing the seven trials. Thrown into the realm's struggle against the approaching haze and themselves, will Leor, a Purblight and an acquaintance of tragedy, use the very power he disdains to accomplish his goals? This is the rewrite of my novel: Condemned; I changed it to past tense and added/ took out some ideas from the original. This is essentially the first draft since I'm writing as I go. Also, there might be or might not be Gore, Sexual, or Traumatizing content. I only put it there for a disclaimer in case I want to add it. I have no set release schedule yet, but I'll try to post once every 2 week. Thanks for your patience.
