《The Endless War》Chapter 2: Graduation (1)

Terra the land where human civilization thrives and continues to progress. A newly formed city put together through hard human labor from the ground up. Technology continued to develop here thanks to brilliant scientists who contributed to the advancement of human existence. Nothing was perfect there was always ways to improve how people thrived.
To the outside, Terra seems like a perfect city, but not every region is without its fault. Sometimes humans were too curious for their own good. Their egos were easy to expand and influence the way people act. Sometimes it seems like in order to live you must destroy something else.
Peace was hard to come by with all of these wars. It didn’t make life any easier since entities that weren’t human had a closer relationship with mana. To put it simple terms, mana is the life force that resides in everything. People, plants, animals, the air. It’s just that other races are able to bend that mana to their will and produce a magical effect. Humans aren’t always capable of doing that.
Humans are smart, but they’re still trying to figure out what exactly makes a person able to use magic. Some people are even trying to force this aspect, but it should always happen naturally or else it could have some nasty side effects.
What humans lack in strength and magical abilities they make up for in intelligence. They are capable of producing things that are pretty useful in combat such as various weapons and communication devices. These tools are responsible for all of the battles that have been won for the human side. Though everyone suffers when it involves fighting even the winner.
The sound of laughter could be heard, but not just any kind of laughter, it was the laughter of innocence. Children were all around, playing with an orange ball as they took turns passing it around, seeing who’d drop it first. It’s funny how even through hard times children were able to bring out smiles in even the worst kinds of people.
Walking down the street was a young boy carrying a brown bag with food. His blonde was quite messy with various strands of varying length laundering about. His facial expressions were soft and feminine, giving him an innocent look much like the kids who were playing about.

“Huh? Hey look it’s Isaac!” One of the kids said.
“Isaac come play with us!”
“Oh. Hey, you little rascals! I can’t play right now! I gotta bring these bags home to mom.”
“Awww, please? Just a quick game!”
“Sorry, I have a busy schedule. I have to prepare for my graduation tomorrow.” Isaac said, his jade green eyes switching between the group of youngins.
“You’re graduating from Seer academy? That’s so cool! You’re going to be a hero!” The kids joined him in cheers.
“Haha, that’s the goal guys. I promise once I become an official Seer I’ll play with you guys as often as I can.”
“You better promise!”
“But, I can show you one new trick!” Isaac places the bag down before digging into his tan colored jeans. “Aha.”
He appeared to pull out a penny before he showed the kids who simply stared at him unimpressed.
“You’re really poor.”
“Who carries around chump change?”
“Come on, pay attention. I’m a magician.” He says as he closes his fist. “Now where’s the penny?”
The kids’ eyes are blown wide open when they realize that the penny is gone as he opened his palm, his empty palm.
“Where’d it go!?”
“It’s in his other hand!”
“Haha, wrong!” Isaac proves it by showing his other palm which was empty as well.
“We give up! Where did it go!?”
“It’s right here.”
Isaac reaches behind the boy’s ear, pulling out the penny before patting the kid’s head and placing it in his hand.
“Keep it safe, that’s yours now.”
“Thanks so much, Isaac! You’re so cool!”
“Take care guys! Wish me luck!” Isaac replies as he picks up his bag and proceeds to head off.
“Goodluck!”
Isaac headed on home passing by the tall buildings which housed various businesses. It didn’t take long before he arrived at his small home in a quiet neighborhood. It wasn’t anything fancy, but an average brick house, spaced out from their neighbor’s own, but it was still home.
“I’m home mother. I got the groceries!”
“Oh great dear, I’m so glad to hear that.”

Isaac’s mother had striking jade green eyes and soft blue hair. She was dressed in an apron with a few flour stains smeared on.
“You’ve been cooking all day mom. I really don’t need this big of a feast.”
“Nonsense, my boy. You deserve all this and more. We’re celebrating.” Isaac’s dad mentioned.
His father had short blonde hair, a trimmed beard, and blue eyes. He was dressed in his house clothes today seems like he took off of work today.
“I can’t complain about that.” Isaac chuckled.
Mom and dad are pretty cool people. I just wish he wouldn’t have taken the week off from work. I feel like those vacation days could have been saved in case of an emergency.
“My little boy has grown up… who would’ve thought you’d enlist in the Seer program as soon as you turned 16.”
“It almost seems like a dream, but I can’t help but worry for him…”
“No need to worry guys, they taught us what to do at the academy.”
“Still, everything will be different when you go to one of those war zones. That takes a lot of guts, I’m not even going to lie. You wouldn’t catch me fighting out there. A guy at work said his buddy was chopped up like meat cutlets- oof!”
His wife appeared to have elbowed him in the side after his worrying talk. “I don’t need to hear that right now, dear!”
“Sorry honey!”
Isaac couldn’t help but laugh at his parents.
Mom and dad are such good people. Honestly, they’re one of my biggest inspirations for wanting to be a Seer. Their kindness has influenced me to spread more kindness to other people. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for them.
“It wouldn’t be a celebration without your friend, Junji though.”
“You guys got Junji to come over?”
“Yeah, he should be here at anymo-”
The doorbell echoed throughout the house and Isaac’s mother went to the door and soon opened it allowing a teen with short spiky ultramarine hair to walk in.
“Thank you for inviting me guys.”
“Don’t mention it, pal. A friend of my son is a friend of the family, haha!”
“Nice to see you, buddy. You ready for tomorrow?”
“You don’t even have to ask.”
Junji has been my friend since grade school. I can still remember the first time we met. I was trying to stand up to this bully so a kid would stop crying and then the bully tried to strike me. Junji was there to stop it and scolded me for sticking my nose in where it didn’t belong. Ever since that day he was always around to assist me. We just started hanging out more and more ever since.
“The table is all set gentlemen. Why don’t you come sit down and enjoy?” Isaac’s mom said with a giggle.
“Sounds good, ma’am. I worked up quite the appetite.” Junji headed into the dining room, taking a seat next to Isaac as he grabbed a plate. “There’s so much food here, did you really cook all of this yourself?”
“Boys, just between us men. Always marry a woman who can cook. That goes double for you, son!”
“Believe me, I’ll try.” Junji laughed.
“I don’t think any girl could cook as well as mom does.”
“That’s so sweet of you honey.”
The table was littered with food from chicken, mac, and cheese, rice, soup, cookies, and pies. There was an assortment of different colored drinks as well. Wasn’t the healthiest meal, but it was a party.
I never thought that this could be the last meal I have with my family. Everything will change when I become a Seer. I’ll be defending my home from monsters. I have to truly cherish every moment from now on. Because any day could be my last…
“Let’s have a toast everyone to a successful graduation tomorrow.” Junji raises his glass filled with red punch.
“To a successful graduation!” Isaac’s father responded proudly, raising his glass.
“Yeah to a successful graduation!” Isaac rose his glass and his mother soon followed the group tapping their glasses together to create a delicate pitched sound.

The Nightcore Trilogy
Going to space was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime, but for Reece Danielson and his crew, it was only the beginning. As the fresh astronauts aboard the Zhengzhou International Space Station start their on-the-job training, Reece is shown a discovery that changes his entire worldview. It isn’t long before a tragic accident aboard the station sets off a series of events that not only puts the crew in danger but at odds with each other. The events quickly escalate into a man-made apocalyptic incident on the surface of the planet. A virulent plague is prematurely released which transforms everyone into flesh-eating undead, and that is only the beginning of the troubles. There are far worse things down there than zombies and possibly a few of them lurk on the station itself. The Nightcore Trilogy thematically begins with a heavy sci-fi feel coupled to a gritty space-based horror mystery. The story's layers are slowly peeled back, evolving into something much more supernatural, mythological, and high-fantasy-based. It's a mix of elements from survival horror, zombie apocalypses, ancient mythologies, supernatural stories, and harem anime. It contains semi-descriptive sex scenes (traditional and non-traditional), descriptions of gore, profanity, and adult situations, so I recommend it for mature and open-minded audiences only.

I have no Idea what will come of this, but it should at least be a fun experience for all involve. The writing improves gradually as the chapters go on. I invariably learn some stuff after writing a bunch, finding what works and what doesn't. I definately need to work on paceing and dialouge and flow. Those are the three main goals for now. **Chapter lengths float around the 2300 to 2500 word range as of current chapter Thank you and happy reading.
