《Another life》Chapter 4:

A week has passed since the the new teacher came in, or should I say ex-teacher.
Yeah ex-teacher, after 5 days of teaching us she quits. There's a lot of reasons why she did that, but I only remember 2 of them.
The first one is because of how abnormal I am. Not only am I able to use magic, but I can use every element and control them well which is rare according to what she says.
I don't know what's rare about that, I mean I'm still struggling to control the elements I'm bad at, and isn't using them is natural? I need to search this one up.
The second reason is because of how hard it is to teach Cecilica. Like I've said before both of us learn magic from the same teacher.
Which mean, with someone that's hard to teach, and someone who is so weird (I don't know what's weird about it though) it's only natural that the teacher will struggle to teach them, and eventually quit.
Honestly I didn't think she'll be able to hold on that long. I honestly think that she'll quit on the 3rd day.
No I'm not underestimating her, it's what I honestly think after I saw how hard it is to teach Cecilica magic.
Want to know how hard it is? Then imagine you're teaching a highschool material to a 6 year old kid. The normal ones, not the genius ones.
It's not the material that's hard, in fact I think it's easy. No, my past memories has nothing to do with this, it's purely based on experience. Afterall the material she taught us are magic related stuff. It's just show that Cecilica is bad at studying.
Since our teacher quit, we have more free times in our hand, and with nothing to do I just keep practicing my magic, and read some books.
Cecilica also keep practicing her magic, and when she's done she'll come and play games like tag with me.
Since the teacher left mom started to look for another teacher. Which show no progress nor whatsoever.

Putting aside all of those things, right now me and my family (every member) are riding on a carriage and are now heading to the capital. Yeah, I didn't see this one coming.
I don't know the reason for that, but I did hear dad mention about attending someone important party. Must be one of those royalties birthday.
The road itself isn't the smoothest, but at least it's not that bumpy to the point where it'll obstruct me on my reading.
Mom, dad, and Lyle are talking about something while Cecilica look at the scenery outside.
Ignoring Cecilica, it's rare for mom, dad, and Lyle talking something and from what I hear it's something important. Well, whatever it is it won't have anything to do with me.
As we busy ourselves in our activities before we know it, we already arrive to the capital.
‘Hmm,it's really like what dad says.’
The city is surrounded by a wall that's about 50m high. There's 4 entrances to the city, and all of them are guarded by knights and there's a lot of people in line in each of them.
We wait in the carriage, until a guard came to inspect the carriage.
“Please show your identification please.”(Guard)
“Certainly”(Ferlike)
Dad gave the guard his id, or should I say the family crest. Apparently all nobles (the high ranking ones) has family crest each of their own, which serve as proof that they're a noble.
I was surprised when I found out about this. I mean, he did said that we're just a low ranking noble so I took it to the heart when he said that.
Now that I think about it, he always has a lax attitude, and think what he have and done as something small. On hindsight I should probably expect this.
After the guard verified the crest, he gave it back to dad and let us proceed to the city.
‘There's a lot of people in here huh?’
Looking outside through the window, I can see that the streets are crowded with all kinds of people.

There are bunch of kids playing tag, a merchant who's unloading the items from his carriage, and there's also some sellers who sold foods too.
‘I wonder just how long till we arrive.’
While keeping that to myself, I resume and read the book in my hand.
--
“Allen, wake up. We have arrive.”
The carriage stop, and mom wake me up. That's weird, did I fell asleep while reading? Oh well, let's not think of the small stuffs.
We stopped in front of a mansion, that's about as twice as big as our house. For the record, the house we lived in is about 30x50 m. I'm not really sure, but I do know that our house is about 3 times as large as a normal house.
Dad talk to the gatekeeper of the mansion, and showed him the family crest.
He open the gate, and we proceed and enter the mansion.
“Umm, mom where are we?” I asked her in a low voice.
“Oh, i forgot this is the first time for you silly me.”(Cecilia)
“So, where are we?”
“You'll find out soon enough.” (Cecilia)
Yeah, I don't really like where this is going.
The carriage stop in front of the front door. All of us exit the carriage and the drive put down our luggage and left.
A few minutes later an old man with white hair and beard that's look like an old pirate captain, came out with several maids behind him.
“Grandpa!” (Cecilica)
Cecilica ran toward him and hug him. Wait, so this is where my grandparents live in? How come they're house is better than us?
“Hahaha! you've grown a little big haven't you Cecilica.” (grandpa)
“Of course I do! Everyday I drink a lot of milk, so if course I'll grow!”(Cecilica)
“Is that so? Oh Lyle, how are you doing lad.”(grandpa)
“Quite well grandfather.” (Lyle)
“No need to be so formal child, we're family! Even your old man doesn't do that.”(grandpa)
“If you say so.” (Lyle)
He laugh once again hearing Lyle words. This old man, does he have some sort of sickness? Or is it just his nature to laugh at everything?
He notice me and take a good look at me, and approach me.
“So you must be Allen right? How about you give your grandpa a hug?”(grandpa)
He openbhis arms and said that to me with a smile on his face. This is… the part where I'm suppose to hug him right?
A few seconds later he hug me without giving me a chance to refuse him. Come on! Releasee already!
“Shy one aren't you, doesn't matter. Come, all of you must be tired after the long journey right? You can rest in the vacant room for now, the maids will call when it's time for dinner.”(grandpa)
The maids picked up our luggage, and guide us to the vacant room as we go.
‘This is nothing like our house.’
The mansion is not only big, but has a beautiful interior as well. The floors are made from marbles which is rare in here, and the wall are painted in white with many decorations on them.
If I were to compare my house and this one, then this house will be the winner by a margin too.
“Here we are.”(maid)
After a few minutes of walking we finally arrive to the room. The maids put the luggage inside, and quickly left after they've done that.
We enter the room, and rest waiting for the maid to call us for dinner. In the meantime I read the book that I read while we were travelling.
A few minutes later a maid called us telling us it's time for dinner.
We went to the dining room, and grandpa is already there waiting for us. We take a sit, and eat.
We finished dinner, and just when all of us are returning to the room. Grandpa called mom and dad to have a chat, and have a maid guide us instead. Looks like they have something important to talk about.
When we're back to the room, the 3 of us wait for mom and dad butnin the end all of us fell asleep while waiting.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
