Chapter 179 - Brand New Day (Part 3)
?? ?? ???? - ???:
There was darkness but then a light appeared.
He opened his eyes because he felt something drop on his face.
Once he opened his eyes, he saw a face.
A face was directly above him.
“Emily…?”
Emily was sitting on his stomach and was leaning down on him.
And she was crying.
“D-d-d-d-do you remember?”
She looked scared and was crying.
Nazar’s eyes opened wide once he remembered what happened.
He waved his hand and Emily was thrown away.
Nazar sat up on the bed and found himself in his old home.
“Huh?”
He was back in that very small room he lived most of his life there.
He also found out that Emily had been thrown through the wall.
Since his room was very close to Emma’s room, Emily was thrown into her room.
“Nazar, I am sorry but--”
Nazar narrowed his eye.
He used his super speed and picked her up by her neck.
As he did, she started to struggle.
“Puh--ple---please…. Lis---listen to--”
“Listen to you?”
Nazar said in an emotionless tone.
He could not feel his emotions again.
“Wh-what are you doing?”
Hearing Emma voice, Nazar looked at her.
He immediately let go of Emily.
He forced a smile on his face.
“You… You are alive--- Huh?”
Emily coughed.
He analysed her.
“You are 669 days younger…?”
“That’s… That’s what I am trying to tell you...”
Nazar looked at Emily.
“He… he...”
She tried taking a few deep breaths.
“Nazar? Emily? What the fuck is going on?”
It was early in the morning, so she was asleep when Nazar threw Emily through the wall.
She woke up to seeing Nazar, who looked different from before, holding Emily by her neck.
“Give me a minute. Let me explain what happened,” Emily said out loud.
“The minute you do anything weird, I will kill you.”
Nazar’s cold tone did not surprise Emily. But it did, however, surprise Emma, who was still a little sleepy.
Nazar waved his hand and the wall was fixed now.
Emma’s mind went completely blank.
She had no idea what was going on.
“Talk!”
Emily took a deep breath.
“Once he killed me, he brought me back. And then he placed something else inside my mind. I don’t know what… but we share the same body now. I don’t know how that works either.”
Nazar was confused.
“So, once you brought me back, he took control and then I don’t know what happened until I saw Emma. But for some reasons, he has more power than ever. And he was going to destroy everything. But then for a split second, I took control and stopped it.”
“What?”
“You see, he was going to destroy everything until May 2000, starting from the end of time. So, the future until now has been destroyed.”
“Huh?”
“I don’t know how it works but the future is destroyed. Time will continue from this point on and the future will be created as you go along. But if you have nigh omnipresence or something like that, you won’t see anything beyond this point.”
Nazar scratched his head.
“I managed to stop it at this moment but if he takes control again, everything will be gone.”
“Interesting.”
“Eh? What are you guys talking about…?”

Emma frantically looked at Nazar and then Emily.
“One more thing.”
“Hm?”
“I think he put you in this loop. If you don’t change the future and prevent my death, you will be stuck inside this loop for an eternity.”
“What?”
“So, kill us both now and then change the future. Do it differently. If you don’t save me, no matter what you do, he will use me. That’s my destiny.”
“...”
“You don’t do you, huh?”
“Know what?”
Nazar was confused.
“You are supposed to be his successor and I am his host. Even if you kill him, he will be able to reside inside my body. Because I have this abnormal energy within me. You are his successor, the great destroyer. And as a contingency plan against you, I am supposed to be his host. So, if he doesn’t achieve his goal, he will come back and destroy everything until a certain point in time. He did this so he can start over with you. He thought you won’t remember and then he will raise you as his own and then steal your power.”
“But--”
“If he destroys everything until the moment of your birth, and then he can start over with you and me. Manipulate the things the way he wants to. He can ‘raise’ you the way he wants and then steal your power.”
“...”
Nazar was confused.
He thought about what she is said.
“So, can you really kill me? If you kill us both, the threat will stop. You will kill us then change the future as it was. Do it completely differently. And make sure you kill him forever. Don’t even give him the chance to survive---argh!!”
She started to lose control for a second.
“Please!”
Nazar was confused, so he straightened his posture.
“Of course, I can kill you. I have killed him once before.”
Emily started to relax a little.
“So, how did you survive in...”
Nazar trailed off.
He went close to her and analysed her.
“Ah.”
He saw what was keeping her alive.
“A barrier. Interesting.”
She looked like she was in pain.
“Please do it quickly.”
He placed his right hand on her shoulder.
She looked at him in confusion.
“Breaker touch,” Nazar said.
Nazar wanted to add a power but he noticed that he had all of his powers.
He touched the barrier around her and then...
“Do it quickly… before--”
All of a sudden, Emily vanished into thin air.
“Wh-what just happened?”
Nazar didn’t answer Emma’s question.
He vanished into thin air right after Emily.
He reached the 8th dimensional plane of existence at the same time as Emily.
He saw her as she got shredded into small pieces and died.
The Nameless One inside of her tried to place a barrier around her but Nazar destroyed the barrier completely.
Both of them died.
Nazar stayed there to see if something will change but nothing did.
He went back home after an hour or so.
He appeared in his room.
“Fuck!”
He wasn’t sure if they both were dead now.
But if they were, what should he do now?
“What is it?”
While he was thinking, he heard a knocking sound.
Emma entered the room.
“Okay, what the fuck just happened?”
Nazar remembered that he has gone back through time, so right now she doesn’t know that Nazar had superpowers.

So, he sighed.
“Do you really want to know?”
She gulped.
“Y-yes.”
“Well, then…”
Nazar stood up.
“Sit down over there. It’s a long story.”
“O-okay.”
She was kind of surprised to find out how nice he was all of a sudden.
But she didn’t really care about that now.
So, she sat down.
Nazar sat down on the floor.
“I am a god.”
“....”
She gave him a blank look.
“I am the person who created everything.”
“Haha. Nice joke.”
“No, I am being serious.”
“....”
“Let me tell you how it happened.”
Nazar told her about the original timeline.
He told her how he killed all those people but they were actually the undead, then he left Earth. Then he told her about the angel and the demon. The superhumans and aliens. His god and the destruction of everything and how he created everything afterwards. The gods and the cosmic entities.
He also told her about how they are a real family. He told her how their real family is still alive. He told her that they have a brother and what kind of people their parents were.
He told her about the death of Emily and then the death of their adoptive parents. And who they truly were.
He also told her what the deal with this Emily was.
It took him an hour to cover all the details about what happened in last (?) 22 months.
“.....................What……………..?”
“I know it's hard to take this all in… but that’s the truth.”
She stood up and left the room.
“That was to be expected,” Nazar muttered under his breath.
He stood up and lied down on the bed.
“Now, what am I supposed to do?”
He thought about what will happen if he doesn’t change time.
If he changes the time, things will happen differently and he wouldn’t know what kind of effects it will have.
But if he does change it, he will be saving a lot of people.
And more than that, he will be saving himself a lot of trouble. He doesn’t have to die countless times again.
He lied down on the bed for hours.
This was the first day of the year. It was 1st of January 2018.
Nazar died last night and got his powers.
However, to him, it seems like it was an eternity ago.
He stayed in the same place for hours and hours and asked the same questions: shall he change the future or keep it the same?
Keeping it the same means that he will be reliving the same 22 months over and over again.
But if he does change it, he doesn’t know what will happen.
“What should I do?” He muttered.
He let out a sigh.
“Maybe I should just go to sleep…?”
He let out another sigh and closed his eyes.
But then immediately opened because he got a call.
And then he immediately let out another exasperated sigh.
He picked up the phone.
“What do you want, Emily?”
“- Dude, where the hell are you? I thought we were supposed to go somewhere. -”
“Is that so?”
Nazar, of course, didn’t remember what she was talking about.
“Can’t. Have… some stuff to deal with.”
“- What? No. You are coming out today. I-- -”
“I can’t. Sorry. Maybe some other time.”
She stopped talking because she was confused.
“Things happened so I have to deal with that.”
“- Oh. Wanna tell me what happened? -”
“You won’t believe it, so no.”
“- I see… Well, I am coming over. -”
“Huh?”
“- See you. -”
“No wai--”
She cut off the call.
Nazar didn’t want to see her because of what happened with the future Emily.
So, how will he avoid her?
Well, he can always just vanish into thin air and leave the planet.
“But for how lon--”
“Nazar!”
He heard a shout from downstairs.
As soon as he heard that, his heart skipped a beat. It was the voice of John, his adoptive father. But both of his adoptive parents were secret agents who were sent here to spy on them.
He doesn’t feel emotions at the moment, so he got over it faster.
“What?”
“Emily is here.”
“Huh?”
Nazar paused in his place.
(How did she get here so quickly…?)
He went inside her mind.
(Don’t tell me...)
He was expecting the worst but it was nothing like that.
He let out a sigh of relief.
(So, she called me when she was just outside? What an idiot!)
“What is it?”
“Nothing. Just wanted to see you?”
“Is that so?”
Even though time was different, Nazar still saw her as the Emily that he killed today.
“Now you can go back.”
“Dude.”
Emily started to come upstairs.
“What is wrong with you? We were supposed to meet last night. And then you never showed up.”
“Things… happened.”
She entered the room.
“What happened------ What the hell happened to you?”
The Nazar she knew was chubby but this one was different.
“Dude, what happen-- Hehehe...”
And out of place laugh that appeared from her mouth.
Nazar froze in his place.
“You thought you could get rid of me that easily? Hehehehehehe…”
(I let my guard down.)
Nazar knew it was that it was easy but he still believed he had killed them.
“Damn--”
Before he could even say anything, a bright white light appeared.
And then.
And then.
And then it was darkness.
But this darkness felt different.
It was warm.
And then all of a sudden, he felt a chill ran down through his whole body.
His eyes slowly opened and found that someone was looking down at him.
(It can’t be!)
It was a doctor.
Nazar’s heart skipped a few beats.
(I am a child?!?!)
And then he realised it.
Emily had already told him something.
(The moment--)
“Of your birth.”
He heard a voice.
Even though he was a newborn, he looked around.
He found out everything was frozen.
“I stopped time, my creation.”
He gulped.
He couldn’t move due to fear.
He had gotten over the fear of the Nameless One a while ago but it looked like it was back.
“Now you are mine.”
Two big hands were coming close towards him.
His vision slowly started to distort.
And then it was filled with darkness.
“Now then, let’s go and destroy everything and then recreate it in my image.”
In this darkness, he heard a calm and dangerous voice.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
