Arc 68 - Earth-4

Nazar and Laura appeared on the moon of Earth-4. They looked at the planet beneath them and it was perfectly fine. It… confused them?

“I was expecting the planet to be destroyed… or even worse.”

“Me too. I was-- Wait, Laura, are you all right?”

“Yes. Why?”

“Your vitals are fine, but you seem rather pale. I noticed it a few times during when we were thrown through time. If something is wrong, then let me know.”

“Okay. But I am fine.”

- No, she is not. -

“Solace?”

- I monitored her body. She becomes tired very, very quickly. It’s… like her energies are being sucked out of her. -

“You idiot,” Nazar raised his voice a little. “Why did you not tell me?”

“Well...”

“Are you kidding me? Have you looked in the mirror? Or even seen your eyes? They are red.”

“I shou--”

“I noticed it a few days ago too. When we were thrown through time. I thought you looked pale because of being tired… but I never thought it was like this.”

Nazar placed his hand on Laura’s forehead.

“Damn it,” Nazar muttered. “Your body temperature is over 50 degrees. Why is so high?”

Nazar then analysed her body and found himself confused.

“Then… when I analyse your body temperature with my powers, it says it shows 37, which is normal for humans.”

- Maybe that being is messing with your powers? -

“That is a possibility.”

Nazar then sighed.

“Damn it. Solace, book a room for her somewhere. She needs proper rest.“

“Wait, I didn’t tell you because I did not want to slow you down anymore.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“...?”

“I told you the other day, didn’t I? I told you I don’t want to see those close to me being hurt anymore. And one of the reasons we are here is because of you. What if something happens to you?”

“...”

- A room is ready in a hotel. I will teleport you there now. -

“You don’t have to--”

“We have time. Don’t worry about it.”

Nazar looked around.

“I want to try something before it is too late.”

“Huh?”

Nazar increased the distance between him and Laura.

“Um… what is going on?”

“I want to see what happens to you if the distance between us is increased. I will stop right before one mile.”

Nazar moved back fast and stopped after a short distance.

“500 meters. How do you feel?”

“Same as before.”

Nazar moved even further.

“1,000 meters. How do you feel?”

“Same as before.”

- No, she is not the same as before. Her breathing has become erratic. Her heart is beating slower than normal. -

Nazar appeared before Laura.

“Stop lying to me.”

“I just didn’t notice it at first.”

“Don’t lie to me again. I am trying to help you here. Understood?”

“Yes--wait, what are you doing?”

Nazar picked her up.

“I feel like you are going to collapse any second.”

Both Nazar and Laura vanished into thin air and appeared in a hotel room.

Nazar placed her on the bed and placed a blanket on her.

“I think you should rest. If I use my powers to fix you, it might make it worse.”

“...?”

“I don’t know. I just have a feeling that it will make it worse. That bastard might have messed with your physiology.”

Nazar sat on the bed.

“Why did you not tell me earlier?”

“I am sorry.”

“It’s okay. Just next time when you feel any different, let me know immediately. Okay?”

“Okay?”

Nazar tried to get up but she grabbed his hand.

Nazar turned around and looked confused.

“Sit. Please?”

Nazar looked confused, but he did as she asked.

“What happens if you do not find that person or my brother?”

“I… I will keep trying.”

“What if you never find him?”

“I have not thought that far.”

There was a little silence.

“But there is no need to worry...because I will save him. And you too. That was my promise to you.”

“...”

“Just have a little trust in me, okay?”

“...Okay.”

“Now, go to sleep. I will not disturb you.”

After a few minutes, Laura fell asleep.

Nazar just sat down next to her on the bed.

“Solace?”

- Yes, Master? -

“Keep a close eye on her condition.”

- Okay, Master. -

“And report to me all the time.”

- Okay, Master. -

Nazar placed his hand on Laura’s forehead.

“For some reason, her temperature is lowering down drastically.”

- Do you want me to double check her temperature? -

“Yes, please.”

- It has lowered down to 45 degrees. What was your answer? -

“48 degrees. My powers have never failed me before. I mean, it has before but not like this.”

- Do you want me to check you out too? -

“Yeah, go ahead.”

- What is your body temperature? -

“100 degrees.”

- 100 degrees, which is normal for you. What is your heart rate? -

“Right now it is 190 beats per minute.”

- 190 beats per minute. -

“Then why does it not work when it gets to her?”

- I guess the Nameless One is messing with your powers when it comes to her. -

Nazar stood up.

“Have you found anything about that bastard yet?”

- I just need a little more data and a lot of time. -

“I just hope her brother does not die. I don’t want to break my promise with her.”

- Anyway, should I change her clothes? The fibre does not seem like its relaxing. -

“I don't really care. Do whatever you like.”

- Done, Master. -

Nazar looked back and he immediately turned his gaze away.

“W-wait, why is she naked?”

- She has a blanket around her. -

“Still!”

- I read it somewhere that people rest better when they are naked. -

“Where on Earth did you read that?”

- Online. -

Nazar frowned when he heard that answer.

“Anyway, at least put some clothes on her. She will label me a pervert. It will hurt my image even more.”

- Okay, Master. -

Nazar looked back and clothes had appeared on Laura.

- Is this better? -

“Yes.”

Nazar then walked away from the bed and sat down on the sofa.

“Find all data about this world’s Nazar. And tell me about it when I wake up. And wake me up when Laura wakes up.”

- Okay, Master. -

Nazar closed his eyes.

- And Master? -

“Hm?” Nazar said with his eyes closed.

- You might want to sleep normally. -

“What do you mean?”

- Shutting off your brains is not a good way to rest. Rest properly for once. -

Nazar sighed.

“Fine.”

Nazar closed his eyes once more.

After a few minutes, he opened them again.

“Tch. I can’t sleep like this.”

- It’s much better this way. -

Nazar moved uncomfortably in the sofa.

“I used to sleep in any position and any place without any problem. Mortal sleeping methods are outdated.”

- I will not allow you to sleep by shutting off your brain again. -

“Haaaa?”

- Please. Try sleeping normally. For once. And shut off all your powers. -

“I can’t sleep in this position.”

Nazar then turned off all of his powers.

- And I know you can manipulate your whole body functions and energies without the need for your powers. So, I would recommend you sleep without using that method either. -

“This is cold for summer, right?”

- It’s February 2015 in this world. -

“I see.”

- Anyway, you should probably sleep on the bed. -

“Woah, Woah, Woah. I cannot just sleep with some random person.”

- But I thought loved her? -

“That makes it even worse. What if I unconsciously do something weird with her?”

- I see. But I will wake you before anything weird happens, okay? And the bed is very large. There should be a lot of space between you two. -

“Fine.”

Nazar stood up.

He went closer to the bed and laid down on it.

- Your heartbeat is increasing uncontrollably. -

“Shut up!”

- Okay, Master. -

Nazar placed the rest of the blanket on himself and closed his eyes.

After about 30 minutes later, he finally fell asleep.

While Nazar and Laura slept, Solace found information regarding this world’s Nazar. Solace used everything at her disposal.

After a few hours, Laura woke up to the most unexpected sight, Nazar’s face.

Of course, there was a lot of distance between them, but she still found it weird.

She then sat on the bed. She looked to her right, there was a small table and on top of the table was a small digital clock.

“7 AM, huh?” Laura muttered. “How long was I asleep for?”

- More than 18 hours, Laura. -

“Seriously?”

- Yes. -

“And why are my clothes different?”

- I changed them. -

“I see...”

She got off and entered the bath. After about 30 minutes later, she came out while wiping her hair dry.

“How long has he been sleeping for?”

- About 18 hours. -

“Should you not wake him up?”

- No. This is his first time sleeping normally in a long time. -

Laura then walked towards the sofa.

“What do you mean?”

- He shuts off all his brain activities. He does not go to ‘sleep’, he just sends his body into shut down mode. -

“But I saw him--”

- He shuts down his brain activities and he chooses when it should reactivate. Once he reactivates, he just keeps his eyes close for a few minutes and then opens them. I think he likes to pretend he is actually sleeping. -

“I see...”

As she sat down, she shivered.

“Why is it so cold?”

- It is currently Febuary 2015 in this wolrd. -

“...?” Laura looked confused.

- Time is one of the many differences each universe in the multiverse have. For example, the next universe could be in at its earliest stage, while the the one after that could be at its end. -

“This is really confusing.”

- You will get used it to after a while. -

Laura looked around and did not see anything interesting. There were no magazines or anything around and she did not want to turn on the TV.

- If you are bored, I would suggest you watching a film or something. -

“I don’t want to turn on the TV. It might wake him up.”

Headphones appeared next to Laura out of nowhere. On the small table, a laptop appeared.

- Anything you want. Just tell me it’s name. -

“Woah. So, you can really do anything he can?”

- No. My previous version could. I no longer have all the memories he had backed up within her. I also don’t have data on all the previous people he had faced against. As he has not used all his powers since he has created me, I cannot do a lot of things he can. -

“So, you can only do what you have seen he can?”

- Yes. However, my previous version could do anything Master could, even if he did not use it in front of ‘her’. -

“I see...”

BOOM!!

They heard a sonic boom.

“Wh-what was that?”

- It was-- -

Solace stopped as soon as Nazar frantically got up. He was breathing heavily. His eyes were wide open. And he looked scared.

“What’s wrong?”

“D-d-di-did you feel it?”

- Feel what? -

“Th-the Nameless One’s presence.”

- No. -

“I-I can’t sense him anymore. I lost his presence.”

- I just looked for his presence but I cannot find him. -

“I just said I lost him. I think--was that a sonic boom? Just now?”

- Yes, about that... -

“What is it?”

- This world’s Nazar was just activated. -

“Shit!” Nazar muttered. “F-find him… no, no, don’t do that. Just teleport him here before they find out.”

“They?” Laura looked confused.

“His parents.”

A younger looking Nazar appeared in the room.

“Wha--where am I? Who are--wait, why do you look like me?” Nazar (of Earth-4)

“Calm down,” Nazar said as he got off the bed.

“No, I can’t. Just… just who the hell are you?” Nazar (of Earth-4) looked confused and scared.

“My name is Nazar. And I from another universe,” Nazar said as he walked closer towards Nazar (of Earth-4). “Now, tell me everything that just happened.”

“Wh-why would I--”

“Please. I need to know.”

Nazar (of Earth-4) looked down.

“I was just with my brother and sister. We were in Paris. This being appeared before me. They could not see him. H-he touched me and said that I have been given power. Of course, I did not believe him, but he told me to fly. Specifically in this city. What city is even this?”

This world’s Nazar’s powers were not activated until now. His siblings were both alive. And his parents were not so evil. They moved around a lot because their parents worked in different labs across the world.

- Berlin, Germany. -

“B-Berlin?”

“Wait, wait. That does not matter. D-did you just say, brother and sister?”

“Yes. Do you not have them?”

“Solace, take me there. Now.”

“Wait, wait. What are you thinking?”

“I just want to see them, okay?”

- I will transport you to Paris, France now. -

All three of them were teleported to Paris.

They appeared in what looked like a park.

Nazar looked around in confusion and then Nazar (of Earth-4) pointed towards two people who were sitting on a bench.

“There they are,” Nazar (of Earth-4).

Before Nazar could look back, he heard their voices.

“Yo, Nazar, did you just fly?” Nazar (of Earth-4)’s brother sounded surprised and excited.

“Yeah, that was totally cool.” Nazar (of Earth-4)’s sister said.

Nazar’s eyes widened when he heard that voice.

“It...can’t be….” He muttered.

Nazar frantically looked back and saw the most unexpected sight ever. Something he was not expecting at all.

“This… this is… no, no, no…this can’t be… can it?”

“Nazar? What is it?” Laura said.

“Solace, do you have her DNA map?”

- Yes. -

"Does it--"

- It matches. With yours and hers. I tried to tell you when you first created me, but you said you don't have time for that now. -

“N-no...”

Nazar (of Earth-4)’s siblings came closer. When they saw Nazar, they looked confused.

“Who is this guy?” Nazar (of Earth-4)’s brother asked.

“He says he is me from another universe.”

“He looks a lot like you.” Nazar (of Earth-4)’s sister said.

“This…what...”

Nazar tried to make sense of what was in front of him.

“How… all this time… no, this is wrong...right?”

Nazar did not know what to feel. Fear, anger, happiness, surprise… no, more like shock.

“What’s wrong with him?” Nazar (of Earth-4)’s sister said.

Nazar’s eyes turned completely white.

“I… I don’t know.”

- Oh, this is bad. Really bad. -

“Solace, what is bad?” Laura said worriedly.

Nazar’s whole body turned into energy.

- Emotional outburst. He is feeling many things at once and… Simply? He is going to overload. He is going to blow up like the sun and end everything in the solar system… or even more. -

“Destroy the solar system?” Nazar (of Earth-4) and his siblings said in unison.

“Shit,” Laura muttered. “Can you not do something?”

- I am new to this thing. My older self-- -

Nazar’s body started to radiate.

Laura went closer to Nazar and tried to shake him but it did not work.

“Sh-shut off his brain or something. You said--”

- That could work. Just give me a second. -

Nazar was turned into energy. He was about to blow up but instead, something else happened.

Nazar just fell to the ground.

Laura looked a little relieved when she saw him fell to the ground.

“Phew. I thought we were going to die.”

- Something is wrong. -

“But I--”

- It was not me. He was trying to shut off his own brains but it was too late. -

Nazar vanished into thin air.

“Wh-what?”

- I teleported him into another solar system. Far away from any living being. -

After a few minutes, Nazar’s body appeared

Laura went closer to his body and tapped his face lightly a few times.

“Nazar?”

Nazar’s eyes slowly opened.

“Are you okay?”

“Solace, get us out of this world. Now!”

- Okay, Master. -

“Wait. You did not get any data--”

A portal opened and they went through it.

They appeared on the moon of Earth-5.

“Nazar?”

- Don’t worry. I already got the data from that world’s Emily and Nazar. I got all the data I need. I did it while you guys were sleeping. -

“Just what happened there? And was it really her?”

“Yes. This… I...”

Nazar tried to say something but he could not come up words to describe it.

“If you don’t want to talk about it, then don’t force yourself.”

“...Okay.”

“So, what happened to you there?”

“My powers went out of control once more. I am sure that bastard, the Nameless One was there. I felt his presence before shutting my brain off.”

“I see...”

They were teleported to the other side of the moon, so they could see Earth.

“This one looks normal, too,” Laura said.

“Yeah...”

- Shall I teleport you to Earth? -

“Just wait a little, okay?” Nazar said immediately.

- Okay, Master. -

- He is in New York, so I will teleport you there soon. -

“Okay.”

After a few minutes, they were teleported out of the moon.

Nazar and Laura appeared in New York. It was similar to New York on Earth Prime… yet so different.

Nazar and Laura looked around them.

Statue of Liberty was replaced by Nazar. Nazar’s pictures were everywhere. And once people saw Nazar from Prime Earth, they confused him for Nazar of Earth-5.

As soon as they saw him, they bowed down before him.

“O great lord, give us your blessing.”

“What the...?” Laura looked confused.

“...fuck?” Nazar looked confused as well.
