Arc 63 - Powerless - Part 5

Nazar and Laura were falling towards the ground at a very fast speed.

(Calculating...) Nazar thought.

Below them was a grassland.

Laura looked around the area from above and could not see anyone or anything besides a green land.

(Calculating...)

Nazar’s eyes were fixed on his target. The ground.

(We have come 10...11 meters so far.)

“39 meters left.”

“Huh?”

“We started at about 50 meters in height and now we are at 33 meters in height.”

(I am not sure she can survive this. Hell, I am not even sure if I can survive this.)

“Let’s repeat what we did when we landed in that elf world.”

“O-okay,” she replied a little while later.

They did the same thing when they fell into the elf world.

Nazar fell to the ground first and Laura was on top of him. He got all the impact from the fall and she was safe.

As soon as Nazar hit the ground, he coughed up blood.

“I think… I broke a bone or something.”

He forced himself to stand up.

“Hey… hey, what the hell are you doing? Just lay down for a minute--”

“We don’t have time. Let’s just… continue to walk. We did not come here to relax.”

Laura protested, but Nazar did not really listen. He was walking even slower than Laura due to the pain. He tried to ignore it, but he could not.

After a few hours, Nazar started to fall.

Laura quickly moved to stop him from falling to the ground.

She supported him until he was lying down. She then placed his head on her lap.

“I told you to stop being reckless and take some time off. You have been at constant pain for hours. I don’t what you are trying to do, but it is really stupid of you.”

Nazar coughed up more blood.

“I thought you said… you were only going to do it once?”

“...?”

“You said you would let me use your lap as a pillow only once.”

“Shut up.”

Nazar tried to laugh but instead, he coughed up blood.

After a few minutes, his eyes were closed.

“Idiot,” Laura muttered.

They stayed in the grassland for a few more hours.

When Nazar opened his eyes, he found Laura’s eyes to be closed as well. She fell asleep while sitting down.

Nazar slowly got up, while still being in pain. Once he did, he looked around and scratched his eyes. He looked around in confusion.

After a minute or so, he slowly shook Laura to wake her up.

“Wh-what?” Laura said as she scratched her eyes.

“Look,” Nazar said as he pointed around him.

“What the actual fuck? It wasn’t here five minutes ago.”

When they landed on this planet it was nothing but grassland. And even when they walked for hours and hours, they did not see anything else. But now…

“Where did all these houses come from?”

“I don’t know. They probably used a Camouflage spell? I am not sure if they have something like that.”

Right now, they were surrounded by buildings and houses. There were also cars and ships that were moving in the sky. Chochica Empire is a magic based empire, but they still have a lot of advanced technology.

Nazar and Laura were in the middle of the road earlier. And now they were walking through the street, looking confused.

“It looks a little like Earth?” Laura said as she kept looking around.

“Yeah, except for that ship over there and these floating cars. They don’t have tires. It is something out of a sci-fi.”

“Are they friendly?”

“I just know one person from this empire… and I don’t like her.”

Nazar has been powerless for about 3 days now. Even in his powerless state, he still has all the languages he has learned using his Omnilingualism.

While they were walking, they saw many different types of people but most of them resembled humans. And the clothing they wore resembled the mage type of characters from games.

Nazar went closer to one of them. It was an old man.

Nazar greeted the old man to get his attention.

Nazar was lying but it would stop him from getting in trouble. He might have just come here using the teleporter but he does not know how they will react. So, he just lied.

“” The old man chuckled. “”

Nazar walked away from the old man and went closer to Laura once more.

“It looks like it is normal for them to see someone appearing out of nowhere around here...but I still think we need to be cautious.”

“Oh, so you are no longer an idiot?”

Nazar just smiled.

“I wonder where the High Priest or High Presitess live... “ Nazar muttered.

As they were going around, they found a map of the whole planet. The empire has many planets under its rule, but the Nazar and Laura are on the main planet. He does not know the name of the planet but he remembers the coordinates for it.

After looking at the map for a few minutes, Nazar spoke to Laura.

“The planet is called Chias. And the place where the High Priestess is in another city. Because they have magic, they just teleport there. So, we will have to wait for my teleporter to recharge and then we will teleport there.”

“So, what are we going to do now?”

Nazar tapped his chest and saw the timer. His teleporter would be recharged in 16 hours.

“I guess we will need to stay somewhere. Let’s go find a hotel or something.”

As this planet is open for tourists, Nazar and Laura knew they would be able to find a hotel or something similar somewhere around.

As they were walking randomly, Nazar looked back and he saw her yawning.

“Didn’t you just wake up from sleep a few minutes ago?”

“I only slept for like 5 minutes before you woke me up.”

“And you didn’t sleep on that weird planet either, right?”

“Unlike you, I can’t rest easy on an alien planet.”

“Or you were just worried about me?”

“No, I wasn’t.”

“You could say that you were worried. It would make me feel better.”

“I couldn’t care less about your half-assed feelings. Seriously, the new you is annoying.”

Nazar just smiled.

“So, are we going to discuss the elephant in the room...” Laura paused as she looked around her surroundings, “...or the planet?”

“Hm?”

“Where are you going to get the money for staying in a hotel or something?”

“Good question. I shall steal from someone.”

Laura frowned as she heard that.

“Oi, don’t go committing crimes. You will just attract unwanted attention.”

“Yes, Ma’am.”

They found a place that resembled a hotel. It was an old place but Nazar was not really a picky person. And neither was Laura.

“I will go ask how much it costs. So, I know how much to steal.”

They walked for a few minutes and found someplace that resembled a hotel. Nazar went and returned a few minutes later.

“So?”

“Well, the person at the counter said that it costs 3 units per night.”

“Units?”

“I don’t know.”

Laura just sighed.

“So, what are going to do? Or we can just walk for as long as we can? I don’t mind doing that but your back is is hurting.”

“I think we should just walk.”

“Maybe you should get someone to check it out for you?”

“I am not sure if they have hospitals around. They can use magic. And what is it costs money?”

“True.”

They continued walking and walking for hours. They would occasionally take a break for a few minutes and then wander around the city. Nazar wanted to know more about these people.

“How much longer?”

Nazar then tapped his chest and the timer appeared.

“4 hours.”

“Phew. I thought it was going to be longer.”

“I just need to remember the right coordinates.”

“And then what?”

“Well, I know it sounds stupid, but I want to see if I can convince someone to either take us to Outox Empire or help us get back to the right time. At this time, the reality was fragile and so was the timestream. So, I think they would be pretty helpful.”

“I hear a but coming.”

“But I highly doubt they will help us.”

They just walked silently for a while until they found a place that resembled a park. They entered it and sat down there.

“They managed to get this far in 20,000 years and we still have not managed to do shit,” Nazar said.

“What do you mean?”

“This empire and Earth were both created at the same time… but look at them. They have gone far beyond and above us.”

Nazar had told Laura about the creation of Earth and what happened 30,000 years ago.

“The sun is going to set soon.”

Nazar just laid down on the grass.

“I have a bad feeling about this people.”

“Huh?”

“I don’t know… it feels like they are being good to us but they are planning to do something with us. Like, kill us.”

“You need to stop watching anime.”

“It’s another planet. So, we should be careful.”

“I know, but how?”

“We should not let our guard down.”

Laura laid back next to Nazar.

“You know, I have lost all hope in the survival of all three of us.”

“I told you, I will save both of you. And that is a promise.”

“Let’s just say that we do make it to our own time, how will you save my brother?”

“I don’t know… but I will first fix Solace, then gather a team of powerful people. Alice and Aarin. I will try and bring your brother to you.”

“And then what happens to you and the others?”

“...” Nazar thought for a second. “They are immortals.”

“And you?”

Nazar chuckled.

“I guess I will have to make a deal with the devil... or god.”

Laura looked at him.

“Of course, the whole thing is a wishful thinking. I am not sure if I can I ever get there or save your brother that easily… but I will give it a try. I am not going to break my promise to you. I will find where that bastard is.”

“What if he just kills you?”

“I will be okay with that. I need answers. Not just for myself but for Emily too. Why was she turned into what she was? What happens to her in other realities? What was different about the Universe-11 Nazar?”

“Different?”

“He said he has lived for millions of years and he was responsible for the destruction of Earth, too. If he has lived for millions of years and without Emily they become powerless, then why did he still have his powers?”

“Millions of years?” Laura sounded surprised.

“He said he has been living for millions of years… but I am not sure if I believe him after what the Nameless One said.”

There was a little silence.

“This… this really is a wishful thinking. I think I was stupid to assume that I could save both of you. I cannot even save one of you.”

“...”

“When I first got my power back, I just wanted to use it for myself. Get revenge for myself. Kill the bastards who wronged me… but all I did was cause more problems for myself and those around me. My father killed millions of people just to get my attention. My mother tried to do the same for another city. And I? I killed thousands just because I was angry at them. I did not ask whether they were innocent or guilty… I just went and killed them.”

“What happened after that?”

“I went to the moon. I was ‘done’ with my goals. I took my ‘revenge’. I tried to kill myself but it did not work. Tried everything and nothing worked. So, when I found out that the world was being ruled by a demon, I just smiled. I thought I should just let him win and get his power back, so he could kill me.”

“But what changed your mind?”

“Nothing. I just did not want that bastard to be alive. And I saw another opportunity in Internal Order.”

“...”

“Then when I actually died, I just wanted to come back and live. I finally recognised most of the things I had done wrong to those close to me.” Nazar paused for a second. “Do you know why I resurrected myself every time when I could have stayed dead while Aarin or someone healed me?”

“No.”

“Because I wanted to feel pain. I thought it was one way of paying for what I had done.”

“Do you still wish to die?”

“When I had my powers, I knew that there was no death for me. I could resurrect whenever I wanted. But now? Now… I don’t want to die. I want to correct my mistakes before I am gone… but I know it will not happen. I am no longer special. I never was, to begin with. I was just given more power than I could ask for. And for what reason? Just to be food for a god who will destroy everything.”

“Do you want your powers again?”

“...”

Nazar was quite.

He did not reply for a while.

“...Yes,” he replied slowly. “I have left those close to me in a bad situation. I want to fix that. I don’t that power for selfish reasons… I want it to save those around me this time. I couldn’t care less about the world or the universe, I just want to save those close to me.”

Nazar then looked at Laura.

“And that includes you, too.”

“Sometimes, you say some stupid shit.”

“I know. And you are way too close to me.”

“Hm?” She moved in ever closer to Nazar.

She was laying next to Nazar now.

“I said too close. You should move away.”

“So, do you want to kiss now?”

Nazar gave her a disgusted look.

“Kissing is disgusting.”

Laura laughed.

“No, it seriously is. Imagine exchanging saliva with someone. Would you be okay with licking someone’s saliva from the floor or would you be okay with someone spitting in your mouth?”

Laura looked like she was about to vomit just by thinking about that.

“Ugh… no.”

“Well, kissing is not so different from that.”

The sun was about to set.

Nazar sat down and looked at the orange sky in front of him.

“You know, I can get the best view of the sun from space, but it will never surpass sunrise of sunset.”

Nazar looked back at Laura whose eyes closing and opening.

“You can sleep if you want. I will keep on guard.”

“Thanks.”

In a few minutes, the sun was setting. And Laura was fast asleep.

“Now, to get ready for battle.”

Nazar stood up. A bone was broken in his back. He had been hit with many arrows. He did not tell Laura, but a bone in his right leg was broken too.

Nazar looked around and saw many people dressed in stealth suit. They were completely invisible.

Nazar heard a sound earlier. So, he sat down and pretended to look at the sun. He confirmed that people were walking towards him.

When Nazar noticed them earlier, he told Laura to sleep.

It was not the first time Nazar noticed them. He noticed them ever since the camouflage spell was removed. He saw them following them. So, he and Laura walked in random directions and did not do anything to raise suspicions.

Nazar focused on the sound of their footstep and their breathing. It was not stealth magic, but they were using technology. So, it was leaving a little trail behind, which made it easier for Nazar to smell.

Nazar walked away from Laura.

In a few seconds, they were standing around Nazar.

They all jumped on him at once.
