Arc 59 - Powerless - Part 1
Nazar. A being who enough power to easily overpower a demon. A being who rewrote the laws of the universe. The first superhuman. He was special. But now? Now he is powerless. He does not have power. He faced his god and he lost.
To make matters worse for him, he lost his AI. His tech has become useless too.
A few seconds ago, his God gave him a choice. To save a child, who is travelling with this almighty and all-powerful being? Or to save Laura, someone close to Nazar? What did he choose?
He jumped through the portal.
He went through the portal and went through it.
He saw his target. It was Laura.
She was moving freely, but Nazar controlled himself and used that to his advantage to gain speed.
He managed to catch her hand. She looked surprised but he ignored it.
They both left the portal and were about to reach their destination.
Both Nazar and Laura found themselves about 20 meters above the ground.
Nazar pulled her closer and held her close.
(What did he mean by power source?) Nazar thought.
They were gaining speed.
It was less than 5 meters to the ground.
(...Damn it. No time to think about that.)
They were still free-falling towards the ground.
4 meters.
(It’s too late now for her…)
3 meters.
(I will worry about that later.)
The ground was so close. Laura closed her eyes. If a human falls from a 20-meter height, they is a high chance that they will die.
(Now, I just need to survive.)
2 meters.
1 meter to the ground.
Just before they reached the ground, Nazar flipped and he took most of the impact.
THUMP!!
Nazar landed on his back and managed to save Laura. She did not have a single scratch on her.
“It looks like I am as durable as I was before getting my powers.”
Before getting his powers, Nazar was already near superhuman level. His strength and speed were much higher than those around him.
Laura immediately stood up and looked up.
“Why did you come here?”
“Huh?”
“Why not go--”
“He is with a being who fought against Lucifer and survived. I am nothing against that monster. Plus, in my current state, I will never be able to save him.”
“...”
“And if I, by some miracle saved him, what would he do without you? He would have lost everything, then.”
“Thanks to you, that is.”
(Should I tell her? Maybe but not now.)
“Look, I am not saying I am a hero or some shit like that. But I can promise you this, I will save you both. No matter what. Even if it means my death. Even if it means that I will never return from it.”
Laura did not say anything.
“I have caused you many problems. But if I do not save both of you, I will let you kill me. I will never return from that dark place. That is my promise to you.”
Nazar stood up and looked around.
They were on top of a mountain and it was night time. There was no moon and the wind was pretty fast. It was cold as well, but Nazar never really minded cold or heat.
He looked around and saw nothing but darkness.

He tapped his left palm but a screen did not appear.
He then tapped his chest once and a small screen appeared there. It had a timer on it.
(23 hours to go.)
He then sighed.
Nazar looked around once more. Even if it was very dark, he could use his enhanced senses to ‘see’ what was around them. He used his nose, touch and other senses to make up for his vision.
(Woman you love? What the hell did that person mean?) Laura thought.
She had heard what the Nameless One said to Nazar.
As she was thinking, she tried to walk. She took a step but then paused.
“Be careful. Don’t take another step or you will fall.”
Laura stopped immediately.
“Huh? How can you tell? I cannot even see you.”
Nazar and Laura were standing exactly 50 centimetres away from one another.
“Enhanced senses. I can ‘see’ you using my other senses.”
“Hm?”
“Where you are standing, the winds break up. You are like a wall to it. As it hit the ‘wall’, it creates a sound of impact. And also, the original sound of the wind vanishes and then reappear after a few centimetres.” Nazar paused for a second. “And the smell of your perfume.”
Nazar then crouched down and touched the ground below.
“Ouch.”
Nazar immediately removed his hand.
“Be careful to not touch the ground carelessly. It has a lot of Arsenopyrite. It is a type of rock that can cause severe damage with a touch.”
“Okay,” she replied. “But what about you? Should you be touching it carelessly?”
Nazar stood up.
“My skin is far more durable than yours but it is also very sensitive to chemicals. And I can heal faster than you.”
Nazar started to walk.
“Let’s go.”
Before it was dark, Laura did not know where Nazar was. So, she was confused which way she is supposed to go.
Nazar sighed.
He then walked towards her and held her hand.
“This way, you won’t get lost.”
They walked on top of the mountain for about 30 minutes… and then suddenly the sun rose. It just appeared out of nowhere.
Both Nazar and Laura were shocked.
“What the fuck?”
“Uh… um… I don’t have an answer for this one.”
“When was the last time you had an answer for anything?”
As Nazar and Laura looked around them, they were on top of a mountain. The ground on top of the mountain was covered in Arsenopyrite and other forms of poisonous minerals.
They then looked at the area below the mountain and it was nothing but forest.
“Uh… so… um… how do we get down?”
“I could probably jump from here?”
“And break your leg. You are truly useless without your powers.”
“Thanks.”
They walked for a while and then they finally found a way to get down. It took them a long time but they managed to get down after an hour or so.
“Things are different here. We need to be ready for this place to become pitch black without any warnings. I say we find something that can provide us with light in the middle of the night. In the forest, it will be hard to rely on my senses.”
They gathered some sticks.
While they were doing that, Laura asked the most important question.

“How are we going to get back?”
Nazar thought for a bit.
“I don’t know. I have not study time travel as much as I have studied space travel.”
“Wait a second. Let’s take a step back. What do you mean by ‘time travel’?”
Nazar threw the sticks and wood he had collected on the ground.
“Before I went through the portal, I analysed both. One of them was space-based portal and the other was not. So, I concluded that it might be a time-based portal.”
“Damn it… you should have just stayed home and left us alone. Both of us are going to die anyway. There is no way you can save both of us--”
She trailed off because Nazar held his hand over her mouth.
He then raised his index finger to his mouth.
“Shh. I hear footsteps,” Nazar whispered.
Nazar and Laura hid behind a tree.
Whoever the person or the animal was, it passed them.
Nazar slowly looked after whatever it was.
As soon as he saw an elf?
As soon as he saw him, Nazar hid behind the tree. But the rustling sound he made, it was enough for the elf to notice him.
The elf drew their bow and shot an arrow towards the tree. The arrow hit the tree and it stuck there.
“” It was the sound of a female elf.
Nazar did not make a sound.
“”
Nazar slowly walked to his side and he was standing face to face with the elf.
Nazar saw a short elf with long blonde hair, white skin, blue eyes. She was wearing a ruby coloured dress with a little gold in it. Most of the dress was ruby coloured. There were little gold flowers in here and there. The dress covered only her chest in the upper body and covered everything else below her stomach. She had a longbow in her hand. The bow had the same colours as her dress. Her quiver also shared the same colours of her dress. The quiver had about 20 arrows in it. The clothes and the quiver looked worn out.
As soon as the elf saw him, she froze in her place.
“”
“”
He understood her.
“”
“”
“”
Nazar seemed surprised… and disappointed.
“”
She looked confused by the question but answered it nonetheless.
“”
“”
While Nazar and Lyrei were talking, Laura still hid behind the tree.
“”
The elf thought for a second.
“”
“”
“”
“”
The elf seemed surprised.
“”
“”
“”
“”
The woman seemed a little confused.
“”
“”
He then looked at his side and Laura was still standing behind the tree.
“Laura, come out.”
As he said that, Laura stood next to Nazar. She looked at the elf before her in surprise.
“I thought elves were--”
“They are real.”
Nazar then looked at elf once more.
“”
The elf smiled and lightly waved her hand.
“”
“”
“”
“” The elf turned around and started walk while speaking.
“”
“”
“” Nazar said as he started to walk.
Laura was confused but she followed him anyway.
“”
“”
“”
“”
“”
The elf looked at him in surprise.
“”
“”
“”
“”
Nazar and Laura followed Lyrei through the forest.
“”
“”
“”
“”
“”
“”
“”
She chuckled.
“” She paused for a second. “”
Nazar thought for a second.
“”
The elf stopped. She looked turned around and looked at Nazar in surprise.
“”
The elf kept looking at him in surprise.
“” She sounded irritated.
“”
“”
“”
Laura looked between them in confusion.
“”
“” Nazar reached his hand into his pocket and took something out. “”
She chuckled.
“”
“” Nazar looked at his palm, which had small devices in it. “”
She thought for a minute.
“”
Nazar smiled.
After walking for about 30 minutes or so, Nazar, Laura arrived with Lyrei to her village.
When the others saw Nazar and Laura they looked surprised and were a little hostile.
“” An old man said. He was wearing worn out clothes, like everyone else in the village.
There were a few hundred of them in the village and they were all standing before Nazar and the others. Everyone had a surprised expression on their face.
Their houses resembled huts.
When Nazar heard what the old man said, he raised his eyebrows and whistled.
“”
Lyrei sighed.
Nazar then looked at the old man. He walked towards him.
“”
Everyone looked surprised. There were a few things to be surprised. He was speaking their language. And besides that, he said he was from Earth.
Nazar told everyone how they were thrown through time.
The old man seemed to be the leader of the clan or maybe even just this village.
As Nazar was explaining things to the people, the sun vanished and it was replaced by total darkness. However, people were somehow ready for that, so they lit up candles and other stuff.
Everyone had a form of weapon on them. Most of them had bows and arrows and some even had swords. The old man had a long sword with him.
While Nazar was talking with the people of the village, Laura just watched in confusion from the corner.
After a little while, everyone else left and the old man, Nazar and Lyrei were left alone.
“”
“” Lyrei said.
“” The old man said.
“”
“”
Nazar heard a rustling.
He immediately picked up the arrow from Lyrei’s quiver and shot it towards the darkness with his bare hands.
“”
Whoever it was, they were hit by the arrow.
Laura looked behind her but could not see anyone.
Lyrei was confused.
She and Nazar ran next to Laura to see who it was that got shot.
Lyrei lit up one of her arrows with fire and took it with her.
“Are you okay?” Nazar asked Laura.
“Y-yes.”
“Good.”
When Lyrei’s light shone on the injured person, they found out that it was a dark elf.
“Move away from here. Go next to the villagers.”
“O-okay.”
Lyrei looked at the elf, who was shot in the eye by Nazar.
“”
“”
“”
“”
Nazar thought for a second.
“”
“”
“”
“”
Nazar looked at her in surprise.
“”
“”
(What the hell?) Nazar thought.
“”
“”
“”
Nazar looked back and trailed off.
Laura was not there.
He looked around and found everyone glaring at him. The eyes of the villagers were either green, blue or black but for some reason now, they were all red.
“”
Nazar looked at Lyrei, who was no different than other elves.
While he was standing there, they all attacked him at once.
