Arc 17 - Reunion

A big and tall man stands on the top floor of the Internal Order HQ (Headquarters). This room is only accessible by one man. This man usually wears black trousers, black tie, black shoes, black tie and white shirt. He had black hair with black eyes and a scratch on his right cheek.

However, today there was a different person here. He had nothing similar to this man who is usually here. This man looked completely different and sounded different too.

He was as tall as the man who usually uses this room. This man here right now had nothing else in common with the boss of the Internal Order. This man’s skin was silver. His skin was rough. It had markings on it. It looked it was carved into his body. There were small bones coming out of his skins. It did not seem to bother him.

His eyes were much bigger than a human. The sclera of the eye was non-existent. Both of his eyes were pitch black. There was no hair on any part of his body.

He is talking to someone on a communication device.

“”

The person on the other end did not speak English. It did not speak French. It did not speak Japanese. It did not speak German. It spoke a language that does not exist on the face of the planet.

The voice on the other end continued. “” The person on the other side sounded angry. “”

The nameless boss of the Internal Order smiled and said, “” He paused for a while. “”

“,” the other person on the other end said.

“”

There was a little silence.

“” The person on the other end paused for a little while. “”

“” Eort shouted.

“” The other voice did the same.

The call was cut off. They were communicating with a device that was similar to the one used by Internal Order and their employees.

He was happy. He was happy that he finally managed to do his job properly.

However, his happiness was cut short, because he heard the clicking sound of the door.

Meanwhile, in England, Emily and Jake’s mother entered the Cafe.

Her name is Mikasa Jones. She is a Japanese woman who is in her 40s. She is about 1.60 M tall. Her hair is very long that it touches her waist. She had let her hair loose. She had black eyes.

Right now she was wearing a long black skirt with a white shirt. On the left side of her shirt, on top of her chest, her name is written in a tag. The tag contains her name and the name of the business.

She was now standing in the door. She opened the door a few seconds earlier, only to find that her son, whom they believed had run away 10 years ago, was now standing before her.

As she saw him, her eyes widened and her breathing stopped for a few seconds. Her hands became weakened and her purse fell to the floor. She moved her lips but nothing came out.

After a few seconds, she finally managed to say something.

“Jake?”

She knew straight away that was him. She has not seen him in 10 years, but she will never forget his hair colour and eye colour. Even though he looked different back then, he still has a few parts of his body that look exactly like how it did back then. For example, there is a small birthmark on his neck. If you don’t pay attention to it, you will never see it, but she knew where to look to confirm it.

After she said his name, she slowly moved towards her. She wanted to run to her lost son as fast as she could, but her legs won’t follow her commands.

“I-is that you?”

She said that in a trembling voice. She was about to cry of happiness. Her eyes started to tear up.

At that moment, 001’s hand was not on top of his left chest. It is here that he will hit a button, he can get out of here in no time.

He was about to hit the button and get out of here.

But Emily knew what he was going to do without even looking up, so she just said, “Don’t.”

After 001 heard that, he hesitated to hit the button.

And just like that, it was too late for him to run anymore because his mom was right next to him.

“Jake?”

Her voice was still trembling. She moved her hands slowly to his face.

She looked away from 001 and looked in Emily’s direction. “Emily, your brother is back.” She said that as her teary eyes sparkled.

001 smiled and said, “Hi, mom.”

She was already crying from happiness. She just hugged him.

“Jake… You have grown... so tall.” She looked up to him. She thought she will never see him again.

After a few minutes, their teary reunion was over and 001 was no longer trying to escape. Both Jake and his mother, Mikasa were sitting next to each other. She held Jake’s hand in both of her hands.

“So, how have you been?” Mikasa asked.

“Good, I guess?. What about you?”

“Good, I guess?” She said and they both laughed.

For the next few minutes, they asked each other how they were. While both mother and son were extremely happy, Emily, on the other hand, was still looking outside with teary eyes. Her mom did not seem to notice, and she thought it was a good thing.

“So, where were you, Jake?” 001’s mother asked him.

Jake thought for a while and then he decided to tell her everything.

It took some time to explain everything. But she understood what he has been through.

She hugged him again and said, “I am so sorry for everything you have been through.”

001 chuckled and said, “I should be the one saying sorry.”

For a long time now, they talked about things that happened in the last 10 years.

Back in an unknown location. The IO’s boss’ assistant opened the door. She found nothing out of the ordinary. She found her boss sitting on the chair. There was no alien-looking person in here anymore.

She walked into the desk and said, “Sir, there is a massive meteorite that is heading towards England.”

The man behind the desk was surprised to hear that. “ETA?”

“5 minutes.”

“What? Why did you tell me this now?” The boss was angry and his voice raised.

The assistant was a little scared. “I-it's just that you told us to use all the satellites and other resources to locate Nazar and kill him. And once that was over, everyone was cheering for our victory. So, the satellites and other resources were not repositioned and we just found this out. Sorry, sir.”

“It’s okay. We were just too happy.” He paused for a little while. “Send in anyone who can stop it.”

“That’s the problem. The 24 hour period is nearly up they still cannot take the pill for the next 10 minutes. We don’t have anyone with powers in here.”

“Shit.” The big man was now pissed. He slammed his hands on his desk and it broke to pieces.

He has super strength, speed, flight and psychic powers. He needs to take the pills at the same time as the others. They do this because they want to monitor the power level and to see if there any changes. Everyone must be here and even if one person is missing, they cannot take the pills.

There were many reasons for this. One reason was that the pills were kept in a locker kind of fridge and it will only open if everyone placed their hands on it at the same time. It was used to prevent theft by non-authorised employees.

However, 001 was in London, so they had to wait for him and they also had to wait for the 24 hour period to be over.

“Impact area?”

“L-London.” She paused for a little while. “However, considering the size of the meteor, it could destroy the majority of the surrounding cities too. ”

He was even angrier. “Show me!”

As he said that, the woman gave him a holographic device. As she gave him the device, it lit up and he could see the meteor in 360 degrees.

Once he saw the meteor he was in shock. After a little while, he spoke slowly.

“Even our most powerful person cannot stop that meteor. We could try with more people, but at this rate, they will just die with the rest.”

The room was now filled with silence.

“Where is 001?”

“In London.” She paused for a little while. “He is very close to the impact area.”

“Get him out of there,” he shouted.

The woman started to tremble slowly. She said, “W-we cannot.”

Her boss was now confused.

“The meteor is affecting our teleport technology.” She added.

They were hopeless.

Back in London. They were still sitting in the cafe, which is 5 minutes away from the impact.

The family reunion was still happening. Jake was actually happy to be here right now.

“So, why do you still work for them, Jake?” Mikasa asked.

001 hesitated to answer but he answered it anyway. “Because we are keeping the world safer.”

“So, you were one of those new people who helped a few days ago.” She sounded rather proud. “You did a good job, Jake.” She patted him on the back.

She was rather happy about everything that happened today.

“Emily, I am disappointed in you. You should have told us anyway.”

There was no response from Emily. She finally noticed her teary eyes and sad expression.

“Emily, what’s wrong?”

Without looking up, she said, “Ask your son.”

Mikasa was rather confused now. “Huh? What happened?”

“...Nothing,” 001 said.

But his mom knew that something was up.

“Tell me. What happened?”

“I said nothing.” 001 is still trying to deny it.

“He…they killed him....they killed Nazar,” Emily said in a trembling voice. Even though today was a happy day for her family, she had lost her only friend. She had lost someone important to her.

Mikasa was surprised to hear that. “Wh-what are you saying, Emily?”

“... It’s the truth.” 001 paused for a little while. “My organisation’s goal is to keep the world safe. The biggest threat is... was Nazar.”

Mikasa’s happiness vanished. She was now sad, too.

The atmosphere turned dimmer and dimmer.

However, 001 was saved by a phone call.

He took out the holographic communication device and answered the call.

“Thank god, you answered. We have been trying to contact you for a while.” IO’s boss said.

“001, London is about to be taken out by a meteor in a few minutes. We cannot teleport you, but you need to escape.” He added. “Your survival is important.”

001 looked at the time, and his 24 hours was nearly up.

“But... the time is...”

“I know. I know. Leave the area and stay airborne and leave the city and keep yourself safe. With the little remaining power, you should be able to save yourself.”

“My family...”

“I COULDN’T CARE LESS ABOUT THEM!” His boss was now shouting. “LET THEM DIE! LEAVE THE AREA, NOW. THAT’S AN ORDER!”

The call was cut off.

Emily and her mother’s sad expression were now replaced by a surprised and scared one.

001 was still sitting down. He looked at them. He could only save himself, but will he really leave them here?

(I cannot leave them here. But...)

His thoughts were cut short by a voice.

“What are you going to, 001?”

001 looked immediately. He was more surprised to see the person behind him than he was about the meteor.

As Emily heard the voice, she immediately looked up. She saw something that should not really possible.

Mikasa recognised the voice, too. She looked back as well and she was shocked to see what was in front of her.

“Save yourself, or save your only sister and mother?” From the tone of the person behind them, it sounded like he was mocking 001.

As they all looked back, they saw a familiar figure leaning on the wall. His hands were tied in front of his chest. He was a tall man. He has black eyes, black hair and wears black clothes.

“N-Nazar…?” Emily muttered.

“I wonder what you will choose,” Nazar said. “I am okay with both options.”

He started to walk towards them.

Emily got off from her spot and ran towards him.

Due to the short distance, she reached him in no time. She hugged him and said, “But I saw...”

He looked down at her and smiled. “I will tell you about it later,” as he said that, he pushed Emily away a little. “Now, I have business with 001.”

001 stood up and said, “You can save...”

His words were cut short.

“I more interested in the person you mentioned earlier.” He walked towards him. Once Nazar got close enough, he raised his hand and touched 001’s forehead. “I think I know whom that might be.”

As he said that, his eyes lit blue and so did 001’s.

001’s found out that Nazar skipped everything important and went to the day where he was taken by the organisation.

001 could see everything Nazar was. Nazar focused on the old man who appeared before Jake 10 years ago.

The connection broke after that. 001 was in control but Nazar’s eyes were still lit up blue.

“How…?” 001 muttered. “ANT should have...stopped him.”

After a few seconds, Nazar smiled and said, “I knew it.”

What did he see?

“What did you do?” Emily asked.

“Oh, that?” Nazar paused for a little while and said, “I used my telepathy to go that exact memory of when you left. From there, I went inside the mind of the old man to confirm my suspicion.”

“What are you talking about?” 001 was now dumbfounded. But, Nazar ignored his question.

“Let me tell you about that old man.” Nazar paused for a little while. “He was working for Aarin.”

Emily was surprised to hear that name. She had heard this name before.

“She was keeping me away from the organisation that took you in,” Nazar added. “The organisation at that time worked with schools to find very smart students in similar age group and experiment on them. The purpose of the experiment was to check if you guys were me and to see if you guys could have superpowers. So, Aarin wanted to keep me safe by manipulating the records and sending people like you instead.”

He looked at all of them and then faced 001 and said, “So, I am sorry, everyone. For everything.” He actually sounded apologetic.

There was silence in the cafe again.

001 was thinking about something and then he remembered there was a meteor coming down.

“If you want us to forgive you, stop the meteor.”

“Okay,” Nazar said without hesitation. “But we are still not finished.”

He just walked away from the three of them and they followed. Nazar noticed them but he decided to let them do what they wanted.

They all walked outside. They looked up and there was a massive meteor heading this way.

Except for Nazar, the other three were very scared.

“Ca-can you do it?” 001 asked nervously.

Nazar just looked turned his head around and chuckled.

He did not answer his question but instead, he just looked at the meteor.

It was coming down faster than the speed of sound. He concluded that if it touches the surface, London and a few close-by cities will be decimated.

He could get rid of the threat in so many ways. He could punch it to pieces. He could stop the meteor in its tracks by flying up there and catching it. He could teleport it. He came up with hundreds of ways, he could save these people or get rid of the meteor. He could blast it with energy blasts.

While they were looking, the meteor now had less than a minute until impact.

People around the world knew about the incident. And people in London were trying to flee but to where?

Inside the underground city, the boss of IO and its employees were watching the meteor extremely closely. They were worried about what was going to happen.

“I-it’s getting close.” 001 said again. “Are you going to do anything?”

The meteor was coming even closer. It was now a few seconds away. It was only a few miles up in the air.

“Don’t worry.”

He raised his hand. As soon as he did that, 001 nearly stopped breathing.

It was not because Nazar did anything to 001 but because the meteor just stopped in its track.

“Wh-what...?” Emily muttered.

They looked at Nazar, who showed no sign of struggle. They thought it was not his doing.

Nazar merely moved his hand and the meteor moved again.

Instead of moving down towards Earth, it was leaving the planet.

Boom!

Everyone heard a sonic boom. It was the sound barrier being broken.

In less than a second, the meteor moved so fast that it vanished from eyesight.

“Wh-what just...happened?”

“Oh, that?” Nazar just looked back at them. “In a few seconds, it will hit Jupiter any second now.”

They were surprised to hear that. He said it so casually that they did not believe him.

“I just used telekinesis and stopped it in its tracks. Then pushed it a little with my telekinesis and it went flying out.” Nazar added.

“But...but you...”

Before Emily could finish her sentence, Nazar interrupted her.

“Died?” Nazar sighed after that. “I wish.”

He turned his gaze away from now happy Emily and confused Mikasa who was next to them.

As soon as he looked at 001, they were all teleported back into the cafe.

“Where…?” Mikasa said in confusion. This was first her time travelling via teleportation.

“Now then, 001,” Nazar said. “Let’s get back to business.”

As Nazar said, 001 found himself hanging in the air. Nazar was holding him from his throat and 001 was a few CM high.

001 struggled to talk and the other two found themselves too confused to even ask. They were left speechless.

“I will kill...”

Before Nazar finished his sentence, he heard a fierce voice from behind him. It belonged to Emily.

“DON’T. KILL. HIM.” She said this in an aggressive tone.

Nazar was surprised to see this side of her. He has never seen her lose control before. But he knew why today was a different case. Afterall, he was strangling her brother by the neck. He could kill her brother in mere seconds. He could remove him from the pages of history with just a wave of his fingers.

“Don’t do it, Nazar, please,” Mikasa said as she held her hands up. Her palms were tied together and it was on her chest. She had tears pouring from her eyes on her face.

“Tch.” Nazar clicked his tongue. “”

Nazar spoke in another language. Between the four of them, only Nazar and his former teacher, Mikasa understood.

“”Nazar paused. ””

“” Mikasa responded to Nazar in the same tongue. It was Japanese.

Emily found herself dumbfound.

While they were talking, 001 found himself on the ground, too.

“” Mikasa asked. Her expression indicated that she was sad.

“” He paused for a little while. “”

“” She paused. “”

Her sentence was cut short.

“” Nazar sounded angry. “”

“>” Mikasa now found herself dumbfound, too.

“”

“”

“” Nazar paused for a little while. “” He paused again. “”

“”

Nazar hesitated to answer. “” He paused for a little while and smiled. “”

Nazar turned his gaze to 001 and mere moments later he was teleported into one of the chairs.

“Now, then. 625 said you guys could actually kill me.” He paused for a little while. And this time, he was not smiling. He sounded very serious. “Was this the only method?”

“...Yes.” 001 simply replied.

Nazar slammed his hands on the table and it broke apart. But, just a second later, it was back to normal.

“Seriously? And this was the method you came up with?” He paused. “Don’t you think I have not tried this before?”

Both 001 and Emily were surprised to hear that, but Mikasa’s expression did not really change. She was a little sad as to what Nazar told her earlier.

“What…?” Emily wanted to ask but Mikasa stopped her.

“What are you talking about?” 001 asked the question which was supposed to be asked by Emily.

Nazar chuckled and said, “You know for 1 year, I have used every method to kill myself but I have been unsuccessful.”

“Why?” Emily asked.

“Life is boring.”

Emily got close to him and placed her hands on his cheeks and said, “You can do anything, just make it interesting.”

Nazar pushed her hands away and said, “That’s the problem. When I found out that I could get any power I wanted, I added Absolute Immortality and Absolute Reincarnation to my power list because I thought they were cool powers but now I am paying the price of it.” Nazar paused. “I later learned that I could remove powers but that turned out to be wrong. I can only remove power for a short amount of time. Then when life became unbearable, I tried to kill myself but my immortality stopped.”

“B-but that does not mean...”

“Try living my life of glory.” Nazar was started to raise his voice. “TRY LIVING A LIFE WHERE A SECOND IS AS LONG AS A DAY. TRY LIVING A LIFE WHERE YOU CAN DO ANYTHING.” He lowered his voice and said, “I can do anything I want but there is nothing I want to do anymore. I want it to end.”

Emily was going to say something, but 001 spoke before her.

“Tell me, how did you first kill yourself.” 001 said this in a rather calm tone.

“Well, I tried removing my powers and suffocating but would come back alive immediately. Went on for days. I gave up and that method and then removed my powers and freefall from Earth’s orbit. I hit the ground and every bone in my body broke. Every organ was splattered across the area of impact, but I came back to the land of living a few seconds later.” Nazar paused for a while. “After the failure of brutal methods, I developed an atomic disintegrator canon and disintegrated myself with it. The first time I tried it, it took me a month to collect my atoms and recreate myself. I tried it again and again and now I can do it in a matter of minutes.”

“Then...”

“Yes, I was standing behind you guys for a while and hid my presence using invisibility.”

“You...” Emily wanted to say something but then she stopped herself.

“Then why did you not came out when Emily was crying?” Jake asked.

“Oh, that? Well, her expressions were hilarious so I did not want to ruin it.” He laughed.

At that moment, Emily slapped Nazar.

However, as soon as her slap landed, her hand broke.

Nazar had turned on his reflection using vector manipulation and increased the power of her palm. So, when the slap landed, it did not hurt Nazar, but instead, Emily’s palm was shattered into pieces.

But it healed instantly.

“Anyway, how did you use your telepathy on me earlier?” 001 paused for a little while. “I have ANT with me…”

He stopped because Nazar said something.

“I played your game for a long time.” Nazar turned his gaze towards 001. He was angry a few seconds ago but now he was actually smiling again. “If I wanted to, I could dispose of your entire organisation in a matter of hours. But I kept you around because I thought you would actually be able to kill me.”

“But...” 001 wanted to say something, but Nazar did not give him a chance.

“And the tech you have, that is so lame. It is the same tech the previous owners of ANT were using.” Nazar added. “I know how it works. It just stores your consciousness in another dimension, which makes it hard for me to read or control. They used a similar method on me to depower me.” He paused for a little while. “I am not sure if this makes sense, but I will tell you anyway. Using similar technology, they left just a little of my body in this dimension and sent the rest into another. Over time, it escaped the dimension and merged with me again. I still don't understand the science behind, but that is what I gathered from Aarin's memories.”

Nazar started to walk away from there and stood next to where 001 was forcibly sitting.

“Now, then. Let’s meet your boss.”

“My… my teleporter is not working...”

“Don’t worry, I will teleport you there.”

“Huh?”

Just as Nazar said that he and 001 vanished into thin air.

In an unknown location, the boss of Internal Order was in his office again. He was surprised to see what happened today. He managed to ‘kill’ Nazar temporarily, but he came back like it was nothing.

And what scared him even more to the point where he was shivering and trembling while sitting in his chair, was how Nazar dealt with the meteor. Even if he had deployed his soldiers, all of them combined could not do anything about it in the given time, but Nazar fixed the problem in mere seconds.

He was scared and angry.

His assistant was standing five meters away from him.

“Deploy ‘Superhumanity’ Phase 2.”

The assistant was surprised to hear that.

“B-but sir, it...”

“DON’T TALK BACK!” Her boss shouted. “DO AS YOU ARE TOLD, UNDERSTOOD?”

She was thrown back from what she just heard.

“Y-yes, sir.”

“Tell them to deploy it within an hour.”

“Yes, sir.”

As she said that, she left the room and her boss found himself alone once again.

“Damn, it,” he muttered.

He stood up and was about to do something when two people appeared before him and he gasped.

The whole place was rigged with enough ANT and other technology that could annihilate an entire country in mere seconds. The technology in his office stopped anyone from teleporting in.

The whole reason was that he did not want anyone in his office without his permission.

“Wh-what the…?”

Nazar, still smiling, walked towards the big man.

“Ah, so we finally meet.”

The big man was scared now. His shivering and trembling were befriended by cold sweat too.

Nazar finally reached the big man. One was smiling and the other was trembling.

They were both the same height and looked at each other in the eyes.

Nazar stood in front of him, only 10 CM away.

“I am Nazar.”
