Arc 8 - Prelude to Unholy War - Part 1

Greenland:

Greenland. An unfitting name for a place that is covered by snow.

Inside the snowy mountains of Greenland, there is a cave. This cave is located in a place where you will miss if you were to ever visit that place. The entrance to the cave is blocked by a massive rock. Only a few people can remove the rock. And even fewer can enter.

Zerathos teleports himself inside the cave using magick.

The demonic magick allows him to open a time-space rift.

The inside of the cave is pitch black. There is no light. So, Zerathos uses his demonic magick to create light. The light is so bright that it can easily make a normal human go blind.

Once the light appears in the cave, he looks around himself. The whole place is covered with different artefacts. These artefacts are nothing to humans, but if Zerathos or his followers were to touch it, their magical abilities are increased significantly.

Zerathos walks in the cave and goes to the bottom of the cave. There is a massive wooden door. It seems so heavy that you would think 20 people won’t be able to push it open. However, as soon as Zerathos approached the door, it opened by itself.

The light was dim in this room but a fire appeared out of nowhere.

“Hello, old friend,” said a demonic voice in the corner of the room.

As he said that, the dim room started to light up with hellfire. On one side of the hellfire, Zerathos stood in his human form. On the other side of the hellfire, a 3-meter tall demon with red skin and grey wings stood. He was smiling.

Zerathos smiled and said, “it’s been a long time.”

Eastern Europe:

The time for war is closer but Nazar, Aarin and her allies do not know this. Even though Aarin told a lot about demons, angels and the war, Nazar still has questions.

“You said that this coming war to angel and demon type is just a game, right?” Nazar asks Aarin, who is sitting opposite him.

“Yes,” Aarin replied. “There are rules to be followed in this ‘game’.”

“Rules?”

“No one can help you in the battle. However, you can choose your comrades beforehand who enter the arena with you.” Aarin told Nazar while she also showed some images from the past games. “Another rule is that the bet must be upheld at all costs. For example, we usually bet our powers, so if our opponent wins, we must give them our power.”

“Any more rules?” Nazar asked because there was a little silence, so he wanted to make sure if she has finished listing all the rules.

Aarin sighed and said, “Yes. Before the battle, we must ‘book’ the arena, so angels and demons could watch it. Another rule is that you cannot cheat.”

“I understand why Zerathos was exiled but why were you exiled? You did not cheat, right?”

“That’s right. I did not cheat but we did not ‘book’ the arena, so we were exiled.”

Nazar thought about what she meant by ‘book’. Do they need to get permission from someone or something?

“What do you mean by ‘book’?”

“Before the ‘game’ starts, we must make sure that we tell our superiors about it and they need to decide whether we can battle or not. Our request was denied but we battled anyway.” Aarin informed Nazar.

Looking at Aarin now, she does not seem to be the type of person who would want more power. Why did she risk everything to gain more power?

“Why did you want more power?”

“To be noticed,” she said this in the lowest voice she could make. But Nazar has super hearing so he heard that.

When said that, it looked like she was embarrassed.

(To be noticed?)

Nazar thought to himself. The question moved around his mind and coming with different scenarios. Why would an angel want to be noticed?

“Huh? What do you mean?”

When Nazar asked the question, Aarin looked a little embarrassed. Her face turned completely red.

She swallowed her embarrassment and answered Nazar’s question.

“I was in love with a high-class angel, so I wanted more power for him to notice me.” She said this as fast as she could.

When Nazar heard that, he smiled. If it was any other time, he would have dragged this matter for hours just to make fun of her. But the time was not right. But nonetheless, he smiled.

(Man, I should ask her who it is… but the time is not right.)

Nazar thought about asking her who is it but he was not stupid. He knew that the timing is wrong and Zerathos could cause them a lot of problems.

But after 3 seconds he threw the thought away and asked her anyway.

“Who was is he?”

When Nazar asked her that question, her eyes widened and she started to blush.

“So, even angels blush, huh?” Nazar muttered to himself.

After a little silence, Nazar though he should change the subject but Aarin answered his question.

“L-L-Lucifer.” Aarin whispered but Nazar heard it anyway.

When she said that, her cheeks become red and her eyes narrowed down a little.

Nazar thought: Lucifer? She is hopeless.

But then he noticed whose name she just said. And he was surprised that such being was real and he was also a little scared.

In many different myths, Lucifer is supposed to be the first fallen angel and he is extremely powerful.

Why would an angel of love fall in love with a fallen angel?
