Chapter 10
Gerad POV
It had been a long time waiting, but finally the promise was fulfilled, a dungeon was born at the royal tomb. I was the one selected to welcome him, luckily the one I hunt is near me, so maybe I will finally find him, but because it was an order of the upper ones, I had to go straight to the tomb. The event we have waited for generations, happened at the time when we needed it the most, finally he came, the might of the empress will be rebuilt.
The Dungeon Core was a friendly one, he doesn’t seem to have any experience being an Dungeon, so I helped him a bit at the beginning. He grew fast, and built us our new homes, eventually he needed to ask about a few things, so I answered him the best I could. I was trained for that, and for much more, I am a member of the secret guard, the ones that will help resurrecting the royal sorceress when the time is right. I am the one to directly help in this mission, and it seem to work perfectly, but after helping the new refugees into their homes, the Dungeon made contact with me again…
“Gerad, there are about two dozens of armed man coming towards the fortress, I think they are only thieves, but in case my skeletons are not able to defend against them, can I expect your help?” Ohh, why are you so nice to one who should only be a normal servant of yours, order me around, don’t ask me if it will bother me, to help chopping of a few heads…
“Of course my lord, they will regret trying to sneak up to us” I grin, finally I am able to bathe in blood again, it was so long, that I don’t remember the last time.
The Dungeon obviously has no fighting experience, so I have to command the troops, they are only a few skeletons, but at least they can keep a few guys occupied till I can chop them to pieces…
“My lord, can I have the command for the troops for this battle? I am confident to defeat them in a short time, so you won’t have to worry about these bugs anymore” I bow, bowing seem to please him, so I use it whenever I think it fits.
“Of course, but please be careful not to hurt yourself too much…” Oh he has such a nice heart, ahh no he hasn’t he’s a Dungeon Core, they do not have hearts…
The dungeon places a few ‘little mana stones’ in front of the hastily build earthen walls that are between the town and the new build shacks, so we are able to see better in the dark, I command the 40 skeleton soldiers. At the time my 6 friends that helped me from the start fastly arm themself, while the other residents are evacuated behind the stone walls…

Maybe they will lose their homes again, but I don’t think so, we only have 25 attackers, they will be a nice training, I will enjoy them…
You may think I am crazy, but that’s not directly correct, I simply act crazy, because I want to make the enemy fear going against us in the future, so we have less casualties in the future fights.
They come near us, because of the dark night we weren’t able to see them, but now they enter the light up space, and because we haven’t made a noise till now they probably won’t expect us…
They come about 5 meters in front of the wall, and at that moment I jump up, and over the earth, then let my axe swing, one head flies away, 24 to go…
Simply put, they aren’t a fighting unit. They have only ragged clothing and are only armed with some knives, only a few of them have clubs and only one has a sword, most probably this guy is the leader…
My unit advances, 40 skeletons armed with iron weapons, maybe they would have been able to handle this alone?
But that doesn’t matter, I go straight for their leader, hacking at a few guys who are stupid enough to try and attack me...
He suddenly grabs into his pocket and then holds a little stone in his hand, I know this stone, stupid guy, to really think that will save him…
“Firebolt” He screams, you’re doing it too loud, everyone would just jump to the side after hearing what you’re trying to do. But I am not everyone, I simply continue going towards him…
The little stone has a rune engraved into it, the rune shines for a few seconds, then the stone breaks and a little firebolt comes flying towards me, it’s really pathetic, why is someone using something so ineffective?
I shrug my thoughts off, and lift my axe up, then in the correct moment, I let it meet the little firebolt, and because of the angle I’m striking with it, the firebolt simply gets pushed a bit to the side, so flys into the back of an thief currently fighting with an skeleton, he screams while burning to pieces…
The leader screams, suddenly he isn’t as confident as before, and stumbles away. Bad luck boy, using magic runes is tiring if you’re not used to it...
I speed up a bit and slash him into the legs, he screams and tumbles down…
He is as pathetic as the one I was hunting down, sadly my wife wasn’t strong enough for him…
“Who has send you? speak or I might poke you again” playing my role as the crazy warrior, I try to make a voice as scary as possible, deep and slow, so he suffers a bit more…
“It was the one eyed one, please don’t kill me…” pathetic, I give the order to the skeletons who have killed about 20 of the guys now (I have slashed a few so they are completely annihilated) to silence him, he is too lowly for me to wast my time on…

But, the one-eyed one, that can only be him, so he is somewhere near, finally my hunt comes to an end, I smile the one who has killed my family at the moment I had to defend the town, now it’ his time to suffer…
“Thank you for your help Gerad, we didn’t have any losses, but tell me what bothers you?” Oh, so he watched the whole thing, well he is the one I have to serve under for now, so let’s be honest…
“I discovered that they were send by one of the local thief lords, we should destroy now that he is weakened.” And I get my revenge for the dead of my wife and children, finally after this many years...
“I see, very well, than please take this, you should wear lighter armor than the heavy chainmail, so let me make you some decent leather armor.” Oh he is to nice, not only is he helping me with some minions, he even gives me some good armor and weapons…
A really good looking leather armor suddenly drops on the ground, I lift it up, and discover that it has a few runes to make the wearer stronger. This is a magic armor, something only extremely talented enchanters can do…
I equip the new armor, it’s a bit lighter than the chainmail, and it’s a lot easier to move in it. A decent quality armor, I’m looking forward to the armor he makes in a few months…
With the final things made, I want to go, and finally bring despair to my enemy, but…
“What Gerad why were you this fast, you should have waited for us…” My six friends finally come, looks like they needed quite some time to come…
“Guys I have an mission for you to, Gerad is going to take down one of the thief lord's, please take a few skeleton soldiers each, and evacuate the citizens from the fights, bring them to us, then I can build them some decent homes…
With that about 100 or more skeletons start spawning while some of the dead bodies on the ground get’s absorbed in the process. When looking at them you as an normal citizen will see only skeletons soldiers, but as an warrior, I see that they are equipped with good made armor, and balanced weapons, not the tattered clothes and rusty weapons my skeletons used…
With the order to do our jobs, the road to the town gets illuminated in little mana stones, and we begin marching towards our first battle in quite some time.
I command the unit of 40 skeletons, and stealthily get near the hideout I suspect the remaining thieves to be in. The house has two stories, and maybe a basement...
Then when arriving, I send 10 of my skeletons to the back door, in a little alley on the side, so if someone tries to flee, we will get them.
After they arrived, I try to open the door, but sadly it’s locked, so without further wasting time, I break the door with my axe, it’s poorly made, so that’s not difficult.
15 of my skeletons are going to search this floor, and let the ones waiting on the back door in then search the basement. The others will come with me, and kill everyone on the first floor.
After storming up the stairs, there are 3 doors to choose from, I open the first and see a few guys waking up because of the commotion, I send 7 skeletons in to kill them. Next door contains a workplace, and nobody's in here. So to the final door, I kick it open and there he is, laying on the bed snoring. I send the remaining 6 skeletons to help the others and then guard the entrance, so we won’t get a bad surprise when trying to go out.
He is sleeping so peacefully, I get reminded of what he has done to my family and lift my axe, but just killing him would be to easy, so I slash at his right foot, and it comes off. His body isn’t really strong…
[Note: I don’t want to write the next scene because I want to eat in a hour, just think what you would do to someone who has killed your loved ones, and is completely defenseless in front of you, then make your actions a bit crazier and there you have the part I don’t want to write]
After finishing my business, I come back down and give orders to go back to our fortress. We get moving and the moment we come into the slums, I am a bit startled, I have forgotten about the orders my friends got. The whole street is filled with people who are slowly going towards our fortress, this dungeon core really intends to fulfill the old texts…
Due to having trust in your friend (the Dungeon Core of the stupid Goddess), you now share your mana pools
