《Excursion Book 1, The Goblin Curse. First arc.》Chapter 5 The March of the Goblins

Glenn stands proudly and firmly up on top of a hill; he looks below at the spectacle of his small goblin army. He counts them to total sixty seven, more than he had gathered earlier in the morning. He inhales and exhales slowly while smiling up at the afternoon sun.
He suddenly peers down into the abyss of the green goblin swarm and shouts out loud in the goblin language. “My brothers! The time has come for us to take back our land!” They all shout in unison of agreement.
“Too long has it been, that these filthy humans have kept this land from us!” The goblins continued to shout in agreement. “Too long have they been sitting here, getting fat from our game!” More shouting occurs.
“And if we sit here and let them have for any long more… They’ll just turn around take away more from us again!” This time the shouting turned to booing.
“But not today! Today…” He brandishes a ceremonial twisted bladed dagger from his grey robe. The same one that he has been cutting the palm of his hand, then cutting right below their heart earlier today with.
“Today! We take back what’s ours…. Once and for all!” He says while raising the dagger up in the air to rally his goblin army.
“And with this, I will perform a last right. The right of passage for this young goblin that decided to join in with us, for the privilege of taking back our land! A Bond that will make all of us brethren closer than before. Closer than our families! By sharing our blood through this dagger. After today, nay forever on… This will be a symbol of our new found history!” The shouting gets louder and louder.

The shouting calms down as a young green skinned goblin with a head full of brown hair proudly walks on up to the hill. He lowers to one knee in front of Glenn and bows his head down while lowering his axe.
Glenn then walks up to the goblin and cuts his flesh beneath his heart, then he cuts his palm. Shortly afterwards, both wounds glow black and heals up leaving a scar. The young goblin proudly stands up and turns around to face the crowd, raises his axe and shouts a battle cry before the rest fall in unison with his.
“And with that, it is time for our march, our march… To glory!” They all shout at his speech one last time, while he turns around facing north towards the entrance of the woods. They all but Glenn, march on with haste. All of them marched towards Golden Glade Town.
Glenn looks up to the sky with amazement and he mutters to himself. “It is now afternoon, I may be a little bit late.” He peers towards the town in the distance. “I’m sure Karr won’t mind, due to us having a little bit more recruitment. If he complains, I’ll just remind him of his remark about what we had less.”
He hides his ceremonial dagger back into his left sleeve, then brandishes a straight forwarded blade dagger from his right sleeve in his left hand only to show the tip of the blade is painted purple. “I would love to see the effects of Evan’s magic to take effect. He did say it’ll be around noon… So even if I used it from now on, it’ll take about six to seven hours to take affect… A bit boring but useful for staged distractions I suppose… Still I can use this for fun chaos and a good laugh later on when I go back to the thought of it.” He grins and pulls out his ceremonial dagger in his right hand.

“For now, I have to keep appearances or they’ll suspect I really am using them for higher gains.” He chuckles as he moves on and raises his dagger at the rear of the army. It shines a deep jet black in the air. The aura flows fast and vast towards the army through the woods seeping into all the goblins in their scars beneath their hearts.
While they march on, they slowly but surely produce a faint dark aura that shrouds their bodies and pales their skin enraging them ever more so than before. The curse of the goblin has been done; there is no turning back for these poor souls now. Any self-doubt that one would bear is too late to turn back now.

Life, the struggle for existence
What would happen when man had to, once again, fight for its own right to live? Would the evolutionary counterparts of our ancestors manage to life through the struggle for survival? What would happen to society if a new reason for living came up, other than the enjoyment of the well-built environment? A reason that could either unite or destroy humanity. This is the struggle for their right of existence. As earth and its inhabitants are faced with the fear of unknown danger and the peril of monstrosities, some will falter, some will die and some will live on to tell the tales of those forgotten. As reality dictates, most will be part of the first two groups and only a small faction will be part of the latter. *This is my first attempt at writing fantasy, so I do hope you’ll enjoy it. The story is one of apocalyptic nature, with gigantic monsters, unfathomable powers and also a critial view on humanity and what it means to be human. I will definitely try to stay away from any tropes that are not neccesary to write fantasy, as I thoroughly despise non-creativity. There shall be no harems, no unrealistic behavior and absolutely no standard scene of dimwitted bandits that try to rob whatever similarly rock-brained princess they encounter. The main character is not black and white, because no human is completely good or completely evil. They’re human, not some idealistic concept of what one is supposed to be. Enjoy!Warning: Tagged 17+ for the occasional strong language and violence, some mild sexual content can occur in the distant future.
