《New Escape》New Escape Chapter Fifty One

Thankfully the last of the golems arrived in the group, so all that was necessary for me to do was reach the end of the cavern and grab the crystal which allows me to enter the next path. I have finally become used to the space bending utilized in this strange crystal cavern. The movement is not completely unlike that of the tower in Heaven's Workshop, but it is not exactly the same. It is only possible to travel quickly through bending space with the crystal found at the end of each path.
Exiting the third barrier I begin to enter into the fourth one after taking a break from the game. With summer I do not need to worry so much about playing too long. I of course need to take breaks to keep myself at least relatively healthy, but I don't need to go to school, nor do I need to keep a particular sleeping schedule. I do need to communicate with people a bit however as I am currently isolated in the game.
I enter through the fourth membrane on high alert preparing for any sort of trial which may arrive. The first thing I notice is the utter difference in size of this path compared to the previous three. The past three had ceilings around three meters high (nine ft) and the walls spaced a similar length. This fourth dungeon is similarly spaced, but the measurements are multiplied by three! Each wall has a height of nine meters and are spaced around nine meters apart (twenty seven feet). This size increase must obviously be to accommodate whatever sort of big beast dwells here.
I expel the magical blood from the blood contract's seal and form it into the shape of a pickaxe. The standard form of the monsters here has been a spirit form or a crystal form, so it's easiest to expect a similar being. As I am preparing for combat an ear piercingly loud roar bellows forth from the depths of the cavern. Small tremors shake the area in constant intervals. My fear of a massive monster was true, and the creature appears to be heading in my direction.

Rather than attempt to face such a monster I turn around and attempt to head back. If the being is similar to the crystal golems then I shouldn't be able to deal any sort of major damage on it. My class isn't that of a physical fighter to deal major damage, nor am I a mage who uses standard spells to change the world more efficiently. Most magic users have debuffing spells, but I don't have a proper understanding on the mechanics of buffs and debuffs so I cannot emulate them.
As I try to push past back through the membrane I am repelled in a similar way as when I first tried to pass the third membrane without the crystal. Panic immediately sets in as the realization that I am stuck in here with an unknown number of monsters strong enough to shake the ground with a step. This being may lead to my first death since arriving in the game.
I reach into my back slung over my shoulder and pull out my staff, which is much longer than the bag should accommodate. Should the monster's defense be weak enough for me to damage with wind manipulation my staff will increase the damage by an enormous amount.
As the tremors grow stronger so to does a pervasive foul scent. The pungent scent is not completely unlike the body odor of an unwashed human, but the smell is much stronger, and mixed strongly with a scent of raw sewage. The strong senses in the game lead to a high immersion, but this scent is extremely nauseating and makes me wish I could turn the whole sense of smell off. However, this is not allowed. It is possible to turn the pain sensitivity down, but it is not possible to turn off any sense. There are a number of issues that may occur if someone is able to turn off a sense, so it was determined easiest for the company to not remove any sense. I am not completely sure whether one is able to vomit within the game, and I surely don't want to find out. I am carrying a large amount of preserved foods, so I can easily live for a month in game. The fact that I have eaten and feel extremely nauseous makes me steel my resolve.

"I'll never puke for you foul smelling creature!" I yell out into the poorly lit cavern before quickly covering my mouth.
My slightly joking mood quickly disappears as the being enters my sight. The monster's sight reaches around six meters (twenty feet). The being's mountainous size is covered in a grey stone like skin. It's rather hideous deformed face has two sharp and crooked teeth sticking out from it's mouth reaching half way to it's nose. This creature has the look of a stereotypical ogre, except of course it's height is over two times that of common ogres, and it's color is much different. The strange ogre releases another ear piercing roar as it's eyes meet mine.
Air manipulation will be useless against such a beast thanks to it's extremely thick hide, so I stow my staff back into my bag. With a speed extremely surprising for it's size the stone-skinned ogre bursts forth closing the distance between us with a single step. Drawing it's fist back to throw a punch towards me the ogre's blood-lust filled eyes send a chill down my spine. I will be unable to take a punch from this ogre head on, so my first instinct is to move. My movement allows me to narrowly avoid the domineering punch. If I was to be struck head on my bones would be rendered to dust.

The Demon of Shadows (Hiatus)
Spartans. Genetically modified supersoldiers who participated in the spartan program, which aimed to reinforce and compensate for the humans capability of emotion in order to create the ideal supersoldier. The program itself resulting in the implantation of a limiter for a certain individual, which acted in limiting that persons emotions. Replacing it with a cold logical based calculative mindscape. The limiter aimed to support the ideal supersoldier in completing the objectives assigned to them. Be it mass slaughter, or assasination. One such man who had volunteered to participate in the program to provide data in return for a large sum of money to save a precious friend, has his life lost in battle after years of service and mindless violence. Death, however, was something he usually gave, not to receive. So when death comes to take his life, he awaits in silence, only to be dumbfounded at what is to happen next. This is the story of Nicholas Gray, the Shadow Demon. Note: Story is based on other LitRPGs found on the site such as Dante's Immortality, Necromancer and Co, etc. and on Halo for the majority of the first chapter and possibly later on down the road, I only borrowed things such as the armour and weapons used in the game itself and all credit goes to them for that kind of stuff. I will also perhaps use it to explain his backstroy to further character progression if I can. The cover photo was also a picture I found on the internet and if you wish for credit or for me to take it down just say so and i'll do it as fast as possible. I also don't have a set schedule, and this is just being used to improve my grammar and just as a hobby, nothing more. I will also appreciate feedback in regards to grammar, style, and story in general as this is the first time I have created a story apart from at school, hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
