《New Escape》New Escape Chapter Forty Nine

Clang! Clang! The sounds of metal clashing shakes the air within the crimson crystal cavern. Swiftly bringing both my arms downward I strike towards an amethyst colored crystal golem with a blood-red pickaxe. The golem reaches about one meter in height and has extremely sharp claws. I swing the pickaxe around rather wildly and the golem attempts to deflect it with it's claws. The battle is near a stalemate, but I hold a slight advantage due to range of attack.
This sort of creature is probably my worst enemy at the moment. My strength against spirits is exceptionally high compared to most not yet at the saint rank, and my ability against standard mortal creatures is high as well due to my blood weapon's ability. My more powerful magics are sealed due to the strange environment. I cannot manipulate the crystals in the cavern, nor would fire work on the crystal golems. Light manipulation could be disastrous if the crystal reflects the beam, and wind manipulation is in the same position as fire manipulation. The most I am able to do is use physical attacks with the blood weapon which is rather ineffective as my level is actually quite low.
After a number of swings the golem's right arm is shattered leaving their defence lacking. After a few more swings of the pickaxe I shatter it's head. The explosion of purple crystals reveals I small glowing ball about the size of a marble. The crystals attempt to reform around the marble, but I smash the marble which I believe to be the core of the golem. Destroying the golem leads to a large increase of experience. This was not the first golem I had faced since arriving in this cavern, and previously facing off against the undead and plant spirits has also yielded plenty of experience.

Though my level is incredibly low compared to other players who started at the same time my items and skills are quite good. Including the possession of Heaven's Workshop my possessions should be better than the highest rank player unless one considers they run a guild. The monsters we have been facing were large in number, but low in level. This means that the amount of experience I could get was rather low, but it's also quite good that they weren't too strong or we would not have been able to defeat them. Each level a monster is higher than the it's killer is an additional percent experience bonus. If a monster is twenty levels higher than the experience bonus will be twenty percent of the experience gained for killing something of the same level, but this is also the case for monsters of a lower level. A monster five levels below it's killer will have a decrease in five percent. This are limited to one hundred percent either way, so a monster one hundred levels lower would not yield any experience while a mosnter one hundred levels higher would yield two times the experience.
My travel through the third path is rather slow as the golems are much harder to deal with than spectres or traps. The golem's soul is stored inside the marble, so it is impossible for me to destroy with my own spiritual attack due to the amethysts in the way. The crystals within the cavern have some form of ability to negate spiritual energy.
My current ability in dealing with the golems is limited to one at a time. I did my best to only fight them one on one, but what is this?! I'm completely encircled by four of the small golems. With just a thought a stream of blood emerged from my left hand before forming into two blood red pickaxes. Even with dual wielded weapons there isn't much of a chance for me against four golems.

The first thing I try to do is open up a way out of the encirclement, but this is much easier said than done. If I don't focus on all the enemies they can easily land a blow on my back, so I try a feint instead of charging straight through. I swing with my right pickaxe towards the nearest golem then use the recoil to retreat behind the other golems. While my limit for fighting was one golem that was without the assistance of any sort of magic. I may not be able to defeat them, but I may just have some sort of a chance if I go all out. Rather than splitting my focus on damaging all of the golems I damage a single one constantly while repelling the others.
Using my manipulation ability I am able to control blood just like I can with water. Blood is thicker than water, so it takes more energy to control it. I revert the left pickaxe into blood and will leave it like that to attack remotely. With the right pickaxe being half the size of the pickaxe I used before I can attack much more quickly, but with less force. Rather than just hack away like I was previously I instead focus ever attack to hit the same spot. With my pickaxe being smaller than previously and the total force being less I need to supplement the weakness. I have full control over the pickaxe so I use it in a similar way as I did my spiritual energy against the spectres.
After landing a hit on the golem I begin to send pulse of energy to increase the damage. While my spiritual energy can't pierce the crystal it can use the blood to do so. With the pulses of energy the damage done per hit has increased to three times, but it also drains my mana. Each pulse does not take up too much mana, but pairing it with the drain from fending off the other golems the total drain is quite high. It's necessary to finish the golems off as quickly as possible.

Reincarnated as a Warlock with zero skill
My previous life was just as boring as yours. I was a marketing manager for a flooring company. The biggest challenge? Would the latest colour be called "Grey Oak" or "Oak Grey". Then, tragedy. I was struck down in the prime of my life by a negligent delivery driver and a pallet of laminate flooring - which is significantly heavier than you think. So there I was, smeared on the floor, absorbed in my own self pity. Where would I go? Heaven? Hell. Did I care? Apparently that was not what fate had in store for me. Reborn in a world of dragons and fantasy, I became a Warlock. A pretty darn important one too. The problem, I had little to no affinity to magic and I spent most of my time doing my best to avoid danger. Danger however, would not avoid me. So, with my new life as an amazing Warlock you'd think it would be easy street right? Wrong. Forces gather to move against the Kingdom I am sworn to protect and, whilst my inward allegiance is to whomever is the victor, outwardly I must lead the resistance against the invaders. With my skilled companions Asha - a mage that can actually do magic and Torg - a swordsman sworn to protect me, I can only hope that they distract the enemy long enough for me to run away.
