《New Escape》New Escape Chapter Forty Five

Siphoning spiritual energy is not particularly easy, especially if one does not actually have any clue what they are doing. My current spiritual energy has two different attributes, the weaker of the two can only release partway before returning. This pulsing energy is the one with an attribute closest to the strange energy source which entered into my body and caused me to hallucinate. I don't actually understand how spiritual energy works, but I am able to intuitively use it.
After a long time of absorbing the energy my chaotic energy feels nearly two times as powerful, but my control over it has dropped. A thought appears in my mind. The energy is much more powerful, but also harder to control because I absorbed that foreign energy, and that there are a number of ways I can bring it under my control.
The first option is also the simplest, to just absorb all energy of any type and to control it through force. This means that the energy will be high in quantity, but will be extremely hard to control. This is more of a brute force tactic and can easily lead to one's own destruction.
My second option is to refine the energy and making it more pure. Similar to refining metals refining spiritual energy reduces it's amount while increasing it's strength. This is a path of quality over quantity. While the amount of energy that is able to be manipulated it is low the energy is much better and easier to control. Refining the energy also takes quite a large amount of time.
The third option is to only absorb spiritual energy that is of the same attribute as one's own. This means the energy will be much more familiar and easier to control, but it means that it will be much harder to find energy that one can introduce into their body.

These three methods are known as combine, refine, and fortify. The second I absorbed the foreign energy my mind instinctively knew these were my options. If I were to tell this to any saint or deity expert they would be dumbfounded as most have to spend years of research to even begin to grasp an understanding on spiritual energy. This is the strength of the divine manipulator class. Basic understandings of spiritual energy and it's manipulations is inherently understand, and learning more advanced subjects is exceptionally faster.
I decide to refine this energy rather than absorbing it because it's chaotic nature could cause extreme backlash if handled poorly.
I focus my mind into an internal sight and search for the source of my spiritual energy, my soul. In mortals the soul is typically stored within the head or within the heart. A soul's location is often dictated on one's personality. The soul grows as a person ages and whether they decide things based on their mind or their heart is what dictates the soul's location. A soul is not completely set in stone of course, and it can be manipulated by a number of factors.
I direct my internal sense to my heart where I believe it to be located. Within my heart my soul produces a number of conflicting energies.
A slightly translucent golden orb floats around two less opaque orbs. The golden orb produces a warm glow and seems much more flexible than the other two. One of the smaller orbs is a light blue orb which produces a stinging cold sensation. The second orb is a dark red orb which produces a chaotic fear inducing feeling. These two orbs are both attempting to devour each other and produce a bizarre sort of electricity. The golden energy is the highest in quantity and is what I previously used to spread my spiritual sense. The light blue is the energy which was expelled when I froze Esmir, the golden snake who guarded the tower door. This dark red aura is what I just fed the foreign energy source to, it feels extremely chaotic and is the least powerful of the three.

Having multiple types of energy is rather common as people are not of a single nature. Someone may be extremely kind to their friends, but extremely vicious towards their enemies. This person would have two different energies of different quantities and qualities. If someone were always nice they may just be repressing their other nature and forcing out their nicer one.
I focus on the red and black orb and begin combining the two energies while expelling excess energy. The orb begins to shrink while it's transparency begins to disappear and turns opaque. The colors begin to combine and turn into a sanguine color. Black and bright red energies are released from my soul and expelled through my pores into the world.
I stand up and stretch popping the joints in my spine and toes, then popping each individual finger using my thumb (for kaneki of course).
"Time to get going." I speak out loud to myself again and head down the amethyst cavern. I spent a number of hours siphoning and refining energy without realizing, but school is nearly over so I don't mind getting less sleep.
The cave begins to rumble and the symbols engraved in the walls begin to glow as well, but rather than the strange energy I expected to appear a number of specters appear.
"Ooouuughhh." They all release incomprehensible moans and begin to glow in a black and red light similar to the energy I was attacked with previously.
"Hoo, so it was you fools who actually dared to attack me earlier? Too bad for you such an attack is utterly ineffective against me." I decide to taunt the bizarre humanoid figures.
I first decide to attack with a material attack to test whether they have any sort of physical forms. The strange amethysts that make up the walls, floor, and ceiling are unable to be manipulated, so I release a wave of wind to see if it disrupts them in anyway. The wave of wind kicks up dirt and dust from the ground, but does not affect the specters in the slightest.

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?

Soul Core Online
Soul Core Online was a game that few people were interested in until after it was released, due to its odd way of handling character growth but this soon changed as people started to realise just how different this game was. Unlike many of its predecessors the NPCs in Soul Core Online acted in a way that was indistinguishable from real people and the world felt alive because of this instead of the empty and sterile cities we had come to expect, even walking down the street could give you insights to how these people lived. In my case this was the world that I had always wanted to visit and I soon found myself embroiled in the constantly changing world that is Soul Core Online.
